This has been modified from the set-up used during the recent Marathon game.


More detailed game set-up information:

Spoiler: Game:
One and Done! (inspired by a Hanasawa Skype game, critiqued by LlamaFluff, Faraday, BBmolla, and KittyMo)

Basic premise:
All players have a one-shot PR. Scum get an advantage in selecting the first role and the member of the team to receive it and in influencing which of the eleven are left out of the game via eliminating one. The remaining players are then randomly assigned one role each from the remaining pool of nine, with the last unused role discarded.

Scum killing mechanic:
Scum get access to one-shot {kill, poison, treestump, arson, PGO} for killing purposes. Only one used per night. Theoretically the arsenal would refill if all the methods were consumed over the course of the game.

Kill is straightforward.

Poison is exactly one night delayed; target is not informed.

Treestump lets the person keep posting but no longer voting or using an unspent PR shot.

Arsonist is minimum one-day-night cycle delayed. Once primed, any surviving Mafia can ignite him at any time, day or night.

PGO is one-shot. Scum arming himself takes the place of a killing action that night and is used starting that night on the first person to target him for the rest of the game.

roleblocker, JK (protects against kill, arson), doctor (protects against kill, poison), paramedic (protects against poison, arson), tracker, self-watcher, neighborizer, commuter, gladiator, hider, back-up

Welcome, X! You are a Mafia Goon with your partner, Y, Mafia Goon, and you have the following one-shot non-killing powers available to you:

You also know that the One-Shot TBD is not in the game.

Day Power:

You may post in the game thread and vote for whomever you want lynched

Night Power:

You may communicate in this QT at night and during pre-game.

You and your partner will each have a one-shot PR. You may send in an attack and use the power on the same night. The two powers will be described above in the final role PM.

You and your partner may make one attack per night. You may choose from the following list each night without replacement:

Kill: Shoots one Town player at night, resulting in their death before the next day begins.

Poison: Poisons one Town player at night, resulting in their death at the end of the next night phase.

Arson: Primes one Town player at night. If this power is used on Night X, the player may be ignited as soon as the end of Night X + 1 by any living Mafia member.

Treestump: This attack renders the target unable to vote or use any remaining powers for the rest of the game. They may still post in-thread and will have their role and alignment flipped as normal.

PGO: In lieu of attacking another player, this allows a Mafia member to arm himself with a one-shot PGO. It will remain activated for the remainder of the game unless that player is targeted by an action at night, at which point the first person to target the PGO based on NAR will die.

If you use all five attacks during the game, on the next night the supply will refill.

You win with the Mafia when all town players are dead or nothing can prevent that from happening and at least one Mafia member is still alive.

You and your partner need to pick from the following list of one-shot powers: roleblocker, JK (protects against kill, arson), doctor (protects against kill, poison), paramedic (protects against poison, arson), tracker, self-watcher, neighborizer, commuter, gladiator, hider, back-up

Once you have selected your one-shot and decided which of you will receive it, you must select a second one-shot power that will not be included on the list of powers distributed to town.


Spoiler: All One-Shot Roles
Roleblocker: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to roleblock. That player will have any night actions fail.

Jailkeeper: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to jailkeep. That player will have any night actions fail and will be rendered immune to the Mafia one-shot kill and one-shot arson for that night.

Doctor: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to doctor. That player will be rendered immune to the Mafia one-shot kill and one-shot poison for that night.

Paramedic: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to treat. That player will be rendered immune to the Mafia one-shot poison and one-shot arson for that night.

Tracker: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to track. You will be told who that player visited, and your result will either be (a) player name(s), none, or no result.

Self-Watcher: Once during the game at night, you may choose to activate your self-watcher ability. You will be told who visited you that night, and your result will either be (a) player name(s), none, or no result.

Neighborizer: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to neighborize. If successful, you and that player will be given a QT where you may communicate privately at night.

Commuter: Once during the game at night, you may PM me to activate your commuter ability. You will be rendered immune to all night actions and will be considered absent for the purposes of any targeted roles.

Gladiator: Once during the game during the first half of the day, you may PM me the name of another player to challenge. You and that player will become the only lynchable players for that day.

Hider: Once during the game at night, you may PM me the name of another player to hide behind. Any actions that target that player will also target you, but you will be immune to any actions directed at you. If you choose to hide behind Mafia, you will die.

Back-Up: You will receive the role of the first player to die and will be given an explanation of the ability when your back-up status activates.
