Honeybee and Thesp, I thought you two played fairly well. I believe Thesp made the correct play, because if he hadn't CC'ed Boons and let Boons get cleared, I would probably have pushed a lynch on him. There were several reasons why I would have (including his results). Him CC'ing Boons practically condemned Boons to die. Still, well played, and I wish this could have played out differently.
Jake, I'm sorry I didn't fight your lynch. But you said it yourself, it was proper play to lynch the unCC'ed guilty result (which you were advocating). I had a strong townread on you this game and I was rolefishing Gottemer as it was before Thesp ended the day. I'm sorry that happened, but I don't think it's fair to blame me when you were the one advocating your own lynch and shooting down requests for a CC. If I had it my way, I would have checked for the CC (we already had half the CC checks, we might as well have gone through with it). I thought you played really well this game before you got screwed.
No words for Borophil. That play was just unacceptable for a Newbie game.
Boons, I'm not going to come down as hard on you as the others because you're a new player and you still have a chance to improve and learn from your mistakes. This is called a Newbie Game for a reason, so I hope you really take this game as a wake-up call and learning opportunity. You can't fakeclaim guilties on players because if you're wrong, you're going to put the town in a hole and piss the majority of them off. You especially can't claim a different investigative role in a closed setup like this. You trashed your own credibility so you could burn one of our mislynches for personal glory, and that's not something that can easily be fixed. There is a time and a place for gambits, this wasn't it. I think there's potential for you as a player, just clean up your playstyle and realize that trolling isn't an acceptable playstyle for the majority of the community. It's something people deal with, not something people embrace.
Maestro, yeah, I'm a little clinical in my play. I took a slightly different approach than usual this game because I was a doctor and this was a Newbie Game. But I feel like I was playing pretty well until the fake guilty came in. My protections were pretty bad, but I think I can learn from them.
Yeah, I realized it at the end of day 2 it was bad, but at that point I'm not going to just give up. I came off as genuinely town, who just made an epic bad play, to Bins. I just couldn't get Brian to believe that, and that is where I messed up. I could have played it better, but I fell asleep, and when I woke up the hammer had happened. It was a trial experiment. I have no regrets in it. It was a different play style by me than normal, and I did actually enjoy it.

@Bins - You played well. I appreciate you seeing the genuine town I had and accepting I made a bad play. I apologize for putting you through that. haha.

Bins and I say it best.
Thesp makes good points, but none of them come from the perspective of somebody with a stake in the horrible play that happened this game - Thesp's statements stem from the perspective of somebody who (like an insurance salesman) is reveling in the misfortune the whole time it's happening.
Thesp: this was mentioned in the Dead Topic, but if neither of you had claimed either PR, I believe it's likely you would've had a much
EASIER
D3, not harder. By positioning yourself so that from Boon's PoV you were confScum, and WIFOMing Bins (the only VT around enough to be truly invested in the game) you drew out the Day when you could've just waited for Boon to burn himself out and get voted, and then quicklynch him. Regardless (and this was also mentioned) Honey bee played well enough and Town was lobotomizing itself well enough that I'm confident he could've pulled out the win even if you'd gotten lynched... but your claim was extra information for Town that would've made that a
LOT
harder.
BoroPhil might get referred for a game ban. Apologies to the Newbies for having to deal with that in a game.
And Boonskiies..... my last post in the Dead Topic and on this page says it all. I highly doubt you've had a Mafia experience that was positively influenced by your
EXTREMELY
selfish, trolling behavior when you're Town, so I'd let it stop here if I were you. This game was single-handedly lost by you, in my opinion. Thesp vs. Jake on D1 would've pointed a heavy finger towards one or the other once one of them got lynched normally (on a side note, this also meant that your investigation of one of them wasn't the ideal play, even if you did end up being right); your destructive and WIFOMy arguments right before and during LyLo did nothing but muddy the waters and disinterest people in hoping the game could turn out well at all.
PEDIT: Cheery Dog makes another good point Boon: if this is how you consistently act in-game, you'll see a lot of people become wary of playing with you at all (or allowing you to play in their games), and you can and will be Policy Lynched a lot more often than you'll get to play. It's up to you to change a shit playstyle if you want to contribute positively to games that aren't "Vengeful" or "Bad Idea" Mafia or "We Need a Fifth".
If they had both claimed Vanilla, wouldn't Brian be able to automatically assume scum was in Bins/Honey/Thesp?

I play Mafia FtF more than online, and I'm still working on the transition.

It would have cleared both of us. So yes.

Form a spectators point of view...
I knew Thesp was scum. His only defense was a "Lynch all Liars" policy and the logic of "Why would town do this?" He never defended himself or made solid, logical accusations against Boon. That being said, I'm not saying Thesp didn't play well, because I think the scum team played excellently. I'm just saying Thesp's Day 3 play looked to me like opportunistic scum taking advantage of a stupid townie - an
easy
mislynch.
HOWEVER, if I were in a Townie's shoes, I honestly don't know who I would have voted.
If I voted Thesp (my scum-read) and he flipped Scum, good for Town! A win! But it teaches Boon that faking a guilty is and ok thing to do, and I really don't think lying town should be rewarded with a victory like that (especially in a Newbie game).
If I voted Thesp and he flipped Town, well then gg town, you fell for Boon's stupid fakeclaim TWICE. Eternal shame.
If I voted Boon and he flipped Scum, well... no real glory in that win. And plus, I really didn't think he was scum.
If I voted Boon and he flipped Town (what happened), it's a loss I could have taken without feeling at all sorry about a lylo mislynch.
idk if anyone cares or if I'm just saying what's on everyone's mind, but just wanted to get my two cents in
Good job, scum!

In one sense, I rarely "defend myself", and I couldn't imagine that anything other than Lynch All Liars would be necessary for any reasonable town. In another very real sense, if it made other people think I was scum, I need to re-evaluate that approach.
Thanks for sharing!

I guess I should make some statements or something.. my boring commentary incoming lol.
I want to say that I am very impressed with bin's playstyle and capabilities as town. I feel that if she was with any other town that wasn't bent on destroying itself, she could pin down and lynch mafia easily.
I think brian's performance was good as well, but I feel that last vote was a bit hasty. I think bins had a good point that boonskies guessing that this setup was 2 instead of a was farfetched, and if I was partners with boon I would have to claim doc.
I also feel that jake's play was decent, and was sad that Jake didn't persue the thesp lynch longer day 1. Wanting to end the day early and abruptly is always scummy in my eyes, and Thesp did this twice.
Thesp did well to keep on his feet when he was the center of attention (although I would have tunneled him so hard as town).
Boonskiies, You had the potential to destroy us but you messed up with that fake claim. The 2 setup is the most powerful in the matrix 6 for town, yet the lying ruined any authority you had. I'm not even sure we would of roleblocked you again if you hadn't proved to us you were a power role, and maybe you could have gotten an investigation on me or thesp which you could of used for a better gambit.
I really don't think it is wise to throw around town reads (or have town reads) and observing myself this game reaffirms my belief. I felt I was just unobserved day 1; no one investigated my reads, yet people followed my suspicions to a degree. I'm not sure what quality my posts had as a town, but I felt like my reads were really weak in some ways. My comments to thesp lacked any sort of goal, and I often seemed to be ignoring a lot of information (jake and thesp fight, any of boonskiies posts). So while I put a lot of effort into my posts, my content wasn't great, and if I was paid attention to maybe people could see the cracks in my act.
I probably would have acted the same day 2, that claim looked so fake..
And I didn't really intend to claim day 3.
post 492,
post 494, and
post 496 only exist because I was just trying to indicate to thesp I was online and ready to hammer. I was so thoroughly confused that thesp didn't choose to vote in that first post (like he said he would) and that he suggested to massclaim (like he said we shouldn't) that i just chose vanilla townie to keep myself posting about something.
And for reference, any of my statements I made weren't me lying. I really do have a distaste for nk analysis.
Anyways, good game y'all. This thing was an emotional roller coaster for me.

Ha! I saw those posts and was thinking, "Come on, vote, and I can vote and we'll end it!". I'm a bit gunshy from having quicklynch opportunities pulled out from under me by the existing voter. I also thought that if I came out of the gates voting after Bins had already been doing the same thing, it might look bad. I suppose I should have coordinated how/when to do a quicklynch a bit better beforehand. Oh well. In any case, I was very glad you have you as a partner, and would gladly be on a team with you (or in a game with you) anytime. (That also goes for most players in this game.)

Well, Honey, you did claim day 3. You claimed VT, and at that moment it's when I was certain that Bins was town and you were scum. And I for the most part I was really hoping one of the scum would make a mistake day 2 because of the known role keeper on scum, which again, Honey Bee was super suspicious to me on day 2, but I had to wait to do anything, and by day 3 Thesp would have been the one needing to die. Anywho, like I said, it was all based on my ability to regain Brian, and I couldn't. Simple as that.

Poking my head in here as well.
There is a time and a place for town players pulling gambits. A semi-open setup like this? Not one of those places or times.
If you truly want to advance a gambit-heavy play style, there is a niche for that in the site, but it's not going to earn you many friends or favors in the newbie queue.
For example, a good town gambit that recently just won a game is natirasha's claim of survivor in mini 1580.
A good town gambit has a failsafe, and doesn't harm the rest of the team should your gambit backfire.
You essentially did one of the cardinal mafia sins here: You decided your own opinions were worth more than the entire rest of your town team's.

Thanks, Cabd! <3
