I'll start with Ghostlin. The way he went about the hammer looks town (probably enough to ignore him today) but I still have reservations. While Fuzzy's logic is all wrong (you can't explain why town might do something and then insist that scum wouldn't try to do that, because the whole point of scum is that they want to look like town) I think it's fairly obvious that he believes what he's saying, so I find posts like this hard to understand.

On this:
In post 643, BROseidon wrote:VOTE: TMTOL

Anyone else see it?
...my answer has to be 'no, not something specific in that last post'
but
, assuming for now that the masons are telling the truth, I find it difficult to imagine a scumgroup not containing TMOAFGKAMLDXP at this point. I'm happy enough to call Fuzzy, DV and Saint town for the time being and that does narrow things down a fair bit.

Amrun, you haven't actually spoken about TSAPTERASA today despite the early vote - could you summarise why you're voting him please? BRO, could you explain the quoted post?

Sure!

Basically, crazyletters has been playing very timidly, even accounting for being a newbie. He's being timid in a particular way I find indicative of noobscum: scared to commit, backing down immediately when challenged, etc. And when he DOES finally take a stance, I generally find it inaccurate and weak and I can't relate to it as coming from a town perspective.

One of the worst single incidents was when he was asked to explain a "strong townread," and his answer was, "It's not strong anymore." This doesn't read genuinely to me AT ALL.

Add to that refusing to put Angel at L-1 yesterday DESPITE her being a professed scumread and letters reads very much like "cautious scum" to me.

And as for your thoughts on fuzzy, I'm conflicted. As you said, he's obviously wrong, but DOES he believe it? I flip flop on it. One one hand, he SEEMS convicted enough, but on the other, his explanation makes so little sense that I can see it coming from scum who's being doggedly consistent even after putting forth a stance that doesn't quite make sense. Scum are often worried to back down on their word and appear inconsistent. Either way, I'm not eager and jumping to lynch fuzzy today, but as I said, my straight town read on him is retracted.

As he walked down the corridors, Harry Potter was faced with stares. He was faced with stairs too, considering how tall Hogwarts was, but it was mainly the stares from his peers that bothered him. Also the whispers. The pointing. The giggling. He just felt like turning around and saying "YES I'VE GOT A FUCKING SCAR AND I FUCKING DEFEATED THE FUCKING DARK LORD, BIG FUCKING WHOOP, FUCK OFF," but as this is Harry Potter and it's supposed to be a kid's book so instead he just walked past, ignoring them.

The mutterings got more and more severe though as rumours began to spread. Rumours like "oh he doesn't even go here" and "too gay to function," and he didn't know how to deal with it. After all, his two friends had the emotional range of the tea spoon, his head of house had been killed, and his family were dead. In the end the pressure got too much for Harry and he started to go a bit mental. General muttering to himself to begin with, but eventually it got to the point where he became too dangerous to live. So he was collected by a lot of people and they strung him up from a floating chandelier in the Great Hall.

Shit. I guess there's no more books then.

"Yes your bloodiness, I'll leave you alone now," Peeves muttered to himself, as he gesticulated rudely at the back of the Bloody Baron. He sighed as he zoomed off, trying to find somewhere else to make mischief. He decided to listen out and see if he couldn't hear Mrs. Norris somewhere, she would be game for a laugh to wind up.

He floated down the corridors, keeping an ear out for Filch, until he found Mrs. Norris prowling the corridors near the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Preparing his loudest fart noise, Peeves put his hands to his mouth and blew. That was the last action he took, as the next morning his body (somehow) was found.

Cut out of the films, and now removed from existence.

I'm not normally one to do this but I had the urge (and the time) just now and I think it could help. I went back and had a look through the vote counts to see if there was anything to be learned.

I put confirmed dead town in green and myself in blue and that didn't illuminate an awful lot but, when I put the masons in purple (as I don't think they're lying), it looks more interesting.

The main things I took from this were two:
  • Amrun and Ghostlin vote together a lot.
  • If scum were on the ArcAngel lynch, they came to it late. I will have a look back at that lynch as a matter of priority - Ghostlin's hammer, which I thought was town at the time but stands against a few scumdar pings, needs reevaluation.
I'll go and do that now but I think I know where I'm going to be voting at the end of it.

Ghostlin's 531 (pre-supersaint claim) has a weird language dissonance. He says "Let me give it to you slowly: We. Are. Not. Lynching. Claimed. Masons. Today." which sounds like the sort of thing you'd say as a last chance, get-your-shit-together-or-I-vote-you thing, but then he just votes her anyway. Seems like a best-of-both-worlds scum post.

Yeah, I feel there's enough there that Ghostlinscum would have believed that Arc was faking for some reason and be confident enough to hammer. I mean, we all knew Arc was faking, it was obvious bullshit, that's why she was lynched.

Also worth noting: Jake wanted Ghostlin dead pretty badly and he died N1.

Meanwhile, BRO's 523 looks like scum keeping hands clean in expectation of Arctown while encouraging pressure.

1) No. She was being stupid and insisting Mhork was going to hammer a super saint claim. We don't put masons in danger because you've got a boner of a fake claim and you want them to hammer you as supersaint. It doesn't happen. It was scummy.
2) Reading this sentence it essentially reads, "Ghostlin was secure that Archangel was scum and willing to hammer because Archangel's claim was bad." This ignores two facts: Town or scum, I wouldn't have necessarily known AA was bluffing. I would have a lot more to lose as scum being correct than Town. Fact two: this reason is a bunch of cognitive dissonance masquerading as a valid reason to vote. I could of been equally secure of AA's claim being fake as Town but wanted to test it. I could of been holding out on my own flip. Fact is, bad claim, volunteering to hammer for town because Town insists=/=scum.
3) This is WIFOM and you know it.
