Likely not, his remarks seem to be sarcastic and actually intend to be a judgment against his own words, whereas unless I misread you are genuine in what you are claiming. Or am I wrong? In post 700, Dunnstral wrote:I wonder if mob mentality will attack post 697 like they've been attacking me

Hiiii just wanted to say that trying to make this place more welcoming for future generations is as important as appealing to people who's already here! If you don't see anyone who feels offended with the word "lynch", is probably because they already didn't feel welcomed and left! I really don't think there's someone in this entire site that would be offended by NOT using the word, that I'm certain. And if you are offended because of this change, because you feel it's unnecesary and the mods are messing with mafia history... well, I hope you can stay and see that this change won't affect mafia's gameplay as you think it could be! Because that's why you care right? We're still talking about the game, right? If not, I don't get why you could be bothered."Your intentions are not defined by how things went, but how things could've gone." (Ball, 2019)- Porkens

Don't use the word lynch in mafia anymore. The inconvenience of this is nothing.

Yeah. What a jerk that guy is. How dare he.
Like wtf do you mean Dunn?
And what, might I ask, is your problem with "Died"? We've let you know our issues with "Lynch" so please, respond in kind.Half meme, Half real, All Aristophanes ;)- JingleAri has appeared way too competent for me to even pretend to know what they're thinking

I don't think this is true?In post 651, Lycanfire wrote:It comes from "lynch law" which was vigilante justice carried out against blacks.
Wikipedia (which in and of itself isn't 100% accurate b/c I think many ppl can edit. ) says "n 1782, Charles Lynch wrote that his assistant had administered Lynch's law to Tories "
tories are colonists that stayed true to the crown.
tories were not all black.
now true, it also does say
"for Dealing with the negroes &c".
in a way, this last part doesn't really make sense to me and seems just tacked on? I think that depending on your POV one will read this as "this is how the delt with negroes!" but that would contridict the first part that it was administered to torries. The first time I said it, the way I read it as "this is how they punished the torries that had delt/dealings with the negroes.
As for the other guy
"Lynch was not accused of racist bias. He acquitted blacks accused of murder on three separate occasions.[8][9] He was accused, however, of ethnic prejudice in his abuse of Welsh miners"
So he was more racist toward whites than blacks.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Aaaaalso my suggestion would be using Pokémon lingo because it's kinda cute
"Pink Ball fainted!"
That way nobody dies and when the game ends we're all healthy again and ready for our next adventure!
(Also if you're so concerned about the lack of lynch terminology, you can always shout out loud "hang in there, X!")"Your intentions are not defined by how things went, but how things could've gone." (Ball, 2019)- AniX

@Nero
I went over this when House brought this up in the original thread
This was my response
In scenario A it would be argued that we would be "vigilante justicing" someone but we all know what we're really referring to is hanging them per the scenario B meaning.I said it may or may not be more credible that it was attributed to Charles Lynch
There's two cases involved
A----------------------B
Charles---------------William
Vigilante justice-------killing
If A, does "lynch" actually mean hang or kill, as it does in the context mafia uses it? In my opinion, no, as vigilante justice is a vague term. It could be applied to any crime. See theft for example: it could mean something like seizure of goods or loss of hands, both common punishments for theft in this time. If B, it was certainly directed upon a slave population. Even assuming Charles Lynch never used this "justice" in a racially charged manner, I argue it doesn't really make sense as a word, and made it's way in because somebody, just like myself, didn't understand the term, and it stuck. I'm not saying anyone has done anything wrong, I just don't think it makes sense to use.Even ifthe original meaning came to be from Charles Lynch "vigilante justice" isn't the most sensible term to use in place of what we refer to as "lynch".- xRECKONERx

Like I'm not arguing against the name change I just didn't like Lycans butchering of the history of the term lynch.Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
