Hey folks, quick skill testing question
do you think scum get to see what the mechanics of the 2 artefacts they have to choose between are before they ship them?
If yes, is there any downside to me hardclaimign the full effects of the artefact?
If no, is it worth hardclaiming it in certain circumstances anyway

It is unclear but I am leaning towards them not knowing.

I would ~assume~ they did get to see the mechanics of both artifacts, and would ~hope~ they had to make the choice blind.
And from there, I'd decide whether to hardclaim based on if I think the value of town having the info outweighs the downside of scum knowing.
With a mason buddy, it seems like the full info gets to town by day 2 either way? So, weigh the value of knowing now vs knowing tomorrow, too?

I don't think you should claim what the artifact does. I can think of better plays to make

Glorified prod dodge. Most likely won't get a chance to post again until tomorrow evening.
Kinda read some bits here and there in between grading today, but not really.
Don't have a read on Dunnstral. Gonna be a bit more careful with that read after popcorn.
Do like some of the bell posts I read today.
Agree with 702's take on the artifact.
Oh Prism - I like mechanics, but I do not always really understand mechanics or the best ways to use some roles, especially ones I'm unfamiliar with.
okay tomorrow tomorrow

Rules are pretty clear they don't know what an artifact does until they receive it.
Being given a choice among two is not likely to meet the definition of 'received'
My guess remains that the scum team had to wiki the two artifacts and decided based on speculation on what they do which would be best to pick.
It's also more fun that way and fits the flavor.

I shouldn't worry you unless you're scum
in which case
you should be very very worried.
but not really cuz I am a lazy bear who is going to take it easy in his semi-retired old age

What Bell said, really doubt they get more info about the artifacts than we do.
Keeping the mechanics of your artifact secret vs. making it public is very dependent on the artifact itself and I don't think anyone else can make that call.

The "factions" casting was also weird given that most of the LLD voters were more anti-Prism than pro-LLD, but there was plenty of crossover between the "factions" to begin with. Me being anti-LLD lasted like 40 real time minutes. We're also spread pretty evenly on Dunnstral, I'm skeptical but neither me nor LLD are voting there.
I don't think Bell is scum and I guess thinking in groupings can be a tool but seeing clearly is important.

Dunn I've asked before -- please elaborate.
Specifically, whose reads, and what makes those reads weird?

Thinking more on this game as possibly being in part an evolution of the midscummer night's dream game, scum knew no more than town did about the three dreams presented as choices each day. Maybe the artifact design of this game doesn't change that.
This speculation is probably just about worth what you paid for it.

I'm going to need more from even a semi-retired bear to have a comfortable read.

i'm townreading too many people and i liked titus's interaction there but titus could very well be a weak spot.

Playstyle it's nice to have diversity.
This read because it seemed like townreading someone too fast

Why go after the sangres townreads in aggregate as opposed to going after me specifically?
716 kind of explains the "aggregate" element but it's clear you didn't like my read specifically so the fact it took sangres asking to get you to pursue this concerns me

I don't think the read is scummy, I just think you're jumping to conclusions too fast.

Why don't you find that scummy?
FWIW My read on sangres is a very specific bet on ffery as a reaction to two recent games with me-one that she modded, and one that we played together.
