I think I'm at my best when I'm borderline to obsessing over a game. I get to know the thread almost by memory, and can generally get a pretty good idea of how people think. I used to have a really good track record for finding scum, back on my homesite. (It helped a lot that I knew everyone there pretty well, though, and played a bunch of games with mostly the same people.) I'm still learning some of the ropes here, though.
During my reread of the thread, it was like all of those posts were coloured threads in my head and I could see which way people were pulling things, who were untangling and who were derailing the untangling and at the start I felt like I could memorise the whole game and I didn’t quite succeed but even a month later I’ve still got so much of it in my head that whenever I see someone say something I think “oh that’s just like what ___ said in WDPT!” So many examples for things that scum can do and say that I learned from this game for helping me with scumhunting in future games. And so many phrases that stuck with me for future use.
Anyway, it seems like we approach the game similarly, Vyse. Definitely contact me after your break is over, I think we could work well together.
