Maybe because my homesite is a Pokemon forum and I am used to seeing Metapods and shit like that as power roles.

What makes you so confident this is going to run like a Smogon game? I knew you were from Smogon, I'm not familiar with their game meta but if Smogon is your homesite I imagine you'd be at least tangentially clued up on the competitive side or the in game side of things and what mons are good and are meant to be good, are you really not even slightly trepidacious that certain mons are more likely to be better PRs?

Actually my homesite is Serebii. I might play on Smogon as well. but I originate from Serebii where every game was Upick.

It is moderator wifom to tie power roles with the ability of the Pokemon.

I am telling you that in any sort of decent game design a Moderator will not let the ability of the chosen Pokemon have any bearing on the level of power that Pokemon has.
