Salads response of course views things from a very flat angle, i know that spartan wasnt trying to get a quick mislynch. Though i am happy the game gained traction, i cant townread spartan for it because either faction could do it. I think aarons reaction to the vote is also pretty bad, it reads as though hes more concerned on where he is at when/if a lynch occurs rather than getting a scum lynch through. The whole convo reads like TvS and if i had to pick a side i'd say aarons the goon here.
The only situation where I'd be concerned about where I'm at is if I was on the teacher wagon, which again, I am not.

That being said, I do like Spartan's response to my questions. I had a feeling he was reaction testing and wanted to confirm whether that was true. I also agree with his sentiment of anti-town =/= scum.

UNVOTE:

Not really liking Saladman's posts here. In #54 he says that he's concerned about a mislynch happening on Spartan despite the fact that he was nowhere close to being lynched. And if you were concerned about a hypothetical mislynch, then why vote him at all? Early game wagons aren't necessarily a bad thing provided you have a town sensible enough not to quick/self hammer, and Spartan doesn't strike me as the type of person who'd do that.

We are used to thinking of things as having certain elemental properties, of earth, water, fire, and air. But as is well known from Geber, there are isolated substances which are in, between: sulfur and mercury. We also know that there are seven planetary metals, gold, silver, quicksilver, copper, iron, tin, and lead; these are not usually characterized by their makeup in the Aristotelian elements, and that is right, for in fact they stand alone. Even Geber is mistaken in supposing them simply a blend of sulfur and mercury. A metal is not a mixture. What is mixed can, by clever chemical operations, be unmixed; tin can never be divided into a sulfurous component and a mercurial one by any method.

What was the point before? If pressure, why not vote Salad or Frost now to build a wagon?

Any actual thoughts on what people have said?

1. What is your experience at Mafia
This is my first game. But I've a lot of the variants of Mafia.
2. How do you play as town
I'm guessing you gotta just be friendly and deduce suspicious actions
3. How do you play as scum
I'm guessing I have to be secretive and get innocents lynched
4. What do you think gives away a player as scum or town
Scum:
Eagerness to Vote, defending player for no reason.
Town:
Friendly? Skeptical of baseless lynches.

I've been following this thread for the past few days but i'm not quite sure what to gather from anything.

Spartman seems the strangest since he hammered you and almost got you lynched.

1. I know your knew to the site but hammering doesn’t mean putting someone at L-1, it means to deliver the final vote.
2. Spartman sounds like a bootleg version of the Bartman

I like this post, good push, but it could also be a good scum play to try and take charge and seem like you are being townie getting people to answer questions, but I find it interesting getting everyone to say how they play as town and scum, as it both gives opportunities to use that to read into how they play, given from that point on they will try and follow what they have stated is town as close as they can. It also gives opportunity for scum to make them townie plays as described by everyone so I don't really want to give scum too much direction as to how to be very townie.

What I will say though rather than how I play town is what I have learnt from playing town previously where I played town too strong so seemed very LAMIST, so because of that I'm trying to reel it in a bit more and be more direct, before I would pick up on technical errors that were made by both alignments mainly town because there were more of them thus causing me more issues than good. It led me to having big walls of info generally thoroughly quoted with PEA style points, which I imagine through this game I'll end up doing again somewhat.

In terms of my experience on here I joined a game back in 2015 that I ended up subbing out of due to irl reasons, played 2 games in 2017 (1 with our illustrious mod Plotinus) and joined a game back in the beginning of 2018 which I also had to sub out as I had too much going on irl at the time. So it's a bit of a re-learning curve as its been 2 years since I was last properly in a game.

Not as much as I wanted to give tonight but I've been pretty tired from work today so will try and do better scum-hunting tomorrow when I get in.

I want to see more content from yodavader, Chibiie, and GeorgeBailey as I have no read on them at all so far.

Looking forward to Dongempires content that they alluded to in #76 and Merfins content which I hope comes in time with increased activity.

Alright, since teacher's questions didn't really spark up activity levels too much, I'll throw in a question of my own and see where it gets us.

If you had to lynch somebody right now, who would it be and why?

I'd probably lynch Salad. Didn't like his quick unvote after voting Spartan and his vote on Spartan seemed very opportunistic to begin with.

I’d probably lynch myself to follow the “First Curse”. Every first game (First newbie, First normal and now First newbie as SE) I get lynched in the first three days.

If I had to lynch someone right now, I would go after Spartan. I know that he was trying to get reactions but putting someone on the literal chopping block just for said reaction is not very townie.

I dont like the thought lynching one of the two people who is fighting upstream to keep this game somewhat alive.

Im going to need something from Dong pretty soon or thats my preferred lynch. Also open to Chibi or Yoda atm. Spartan and Salad are pretty off the table for me.

I will say we want to be coalescing in around 48 hours, so I will definitely play tonight. Im sorrya bout last night -- the site was being wonky and mod duties come first.

Firstly, apologies for the late reply, I have a pretty busy schedule... I'm working in a corporation, so I believe you can understand why I say "busy schedule"...

1. I play a ton of IRL Social Deduction games, Mafia included, this is my first time playing on such a platform (forum) and the games seem very very long and too little information, also I have to re-read the whole game to connect dots.
2. I usually hide my role as town until I read at least one more Townie and then do my best to show myself to them only, creating a circle of trusted players to work around with... It does happen that sometimes I misread and add a scum in the circle, but 90% my Townie playstyle shines.
3. Pretty much the same as my playstyle as scum, however, I add confusion and try my best to
not
push lynches because any mislynch pushed by someone will automatically put some suspicion on me.
4. Aggressive plays, trying to team up with confirmed players and pushing them into sharing the same vote. Also acting "confirmed" after a scum-buddy is being lynched.
