Yo Tierce?
You know that lovely post you got to make? That everyone is raving about?
You can thank me for that.

I know. I realized that after I posted it (and if I had realized so before, I would have asked for a massclaim of guesses and you would have been conftown). I'm not discounting your help there, LLD.

Indeed. I remember when I drunkenly stumbled outside the night before I got sick off my ass and yelled NUWEN, I'M GOING TO GO DOWN IN A BLAZE OF GLORY, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME.
Also: GI defending LLD. That's cute.
Nuwen played this out masterfully, Tierce made us all squirm with that deadpost, and Parama was really useless.
PREDIT: Yeah, I'm burnt out. This was one of my worst games ever, I think that's indicative of needing to take some time off.

Thanks for the kudos n'stuff.
Tierce gets MVP this game, although my scum team could have reacted a little better to her reads. They outed themselves with their responses, I think.
My
real
complaint about the dead talking wasn't about reads. N1 action resolution was pretty unclear at that point in the game, before GI claimed out his N1 block on Spyrex. Knowing that Staeg was DEFINITELY the nightkill was information the town shouldn't have had so soon. Town should have been forced to share more data with each other to figure out that Staeg was shot.
This is the first time I've played with a deadtalk mechanic. I'd have to see it play out in more games, but I think sticking a bunch of full-reveal town in a room together and giving them PoE on an ongoing game might be a little too powerful if their communication with the living isn't restricted
severely
. For example, I'd try this mechanic and allow dead players to only quote x things that have been posted (no editing, no molesting). We killed Tierce for a reason: limit the new perspective.

Oh, the balance: I think this was a town-sided game. If we hadn't gotten a playerlist full of lurkaderps and 2/3 of the best players as scum, town might have even sweeped with a lucky D1 lynch.

I don't.
Remember the scum should have had 2 extra kills thanks to the redirector/vig application, but they got RBed two nights in a row.

Yeah, but that's because the RBer made the vig claim.
Now that I think of it: what were Nuwen's and AV's roles?

To be fair, town was confused as to what had happened N1, and only figured it out by Staeg's postmortem non-action claim.
The deadtalk could have been considerably more powerful. Say you had killed SpyreX N1 instead of Staeg, for example. Compare the hypo-results there.
Many players, regardless of alignment, stop caring once they die. This kind of mechanic keeps them engaged (considering I tend to die early, scumhunting in dead QTs becomes a bit of a hobby, but that's me being me) and participating actively--but it is still, apparently, not enough to prod them to the same level of interest players generally have while alive.
I think this hinged majorly on Reck and Parama's reactions to me. RedCoyote, also accused by me, never even acknowledged the dead post. Most others didn't, or nodded and carried on. Town doesn't care about the dead. Very few people bother doing NK analysis, very few people bother questioning wagons, and almost everything is chalked up to WIFOM--which lets the scum team get off scot-free in glaringly evident circumstances.
One of the reasons I love playing VT is that I get to focus on
these
aspects of nightplay, not on what the PRs are doing above my head.
Possibly a swingy setup, though I don't know much about balancing games. Nevertheless, it was a fun game to watch, albeit a frustrating one toward the end.

In the meta I'm accustomed to playing, this mechanic is just too powerful. Questions about NK motives, action analysis, and nightplay are BASIC and SHOULD be part of every scumhunter's toolkit. This isn't a question of stylistic difference; anyone who ignores data because it
could
be under a layer or three of WIFOM is an idiot. If someone has a clear motivation for doing something in one way and no incentive/negative motivation to do things another way, acknowledgement of WIFOM
does not mean the former is any less likely to occur
(most of the time).
The dead have no incentive to lie and have a complete/shared set of results up to that point in the game. I don't remember most of the specifics, but I recall an old MD study that compared the scumhunting accuracy of neutral spectators vs. in-game players. In almost every case among a small sample of ~5-10 games, the spectator QT outed scum quicker and with greater accuracy than the playing town. There's a LOT to be said about collaboration with people you KNOW you can trust. I would never want to see this mechanic in the hands of a full attentive, non-apathetic town.
The setup was very swingy and depended heavily on nightplay, which is just how I like my closed minis. You'll never see a game quite like this one ever again.
The scum team had a potent set of powers:
Parama - redirector
Reck - Godfather, bulletproof, could "mark" a target to lower its lynch threshold by 1 the next day. He lost this ability D2 when we couldn't mislynch CNH.
Nuwen - Conditional strongman, "mark" a target and receive a strongman the following night if that target is lynched
AV could make himself lynchable and could have p much be confirmed town. The game would have gone VERY differently if we had to expend a kill on a slot we considered mislynch fodder.

Luck could, each night, choose a phase. He would escape death during that phase, day or night.
Freedom could hide behind a target. If that target was scum, he would die. If that target was town, he would become confirmed in the opening flavor of the next day.
Chance could choose a target, he would take one of four actions on them and be notified at the end of the night, Protect, Jailkeep, Roleblock, or Bodyguard.
Gamble could kill and guess an alignment, if correct he would gain another shot.
Death could mark a target each night for death. If that person was lynched the next day she would gain a one-shot strongman the following night.
Destiny could redirect a target to a new target. He could redirect people to themselves.
Fate enabled daytalk, he could also choose someone to mark, and they would take one less to lynch the next day. If that person is lynched, he will regain use of this ability. It has no effect during a lynch or lose situation.

Staeg's role did not provide him immunity to night kills.
That's why I uh... had trouble flipping him.
Why would there be any pattern to chance?
