RING:
- SPY rings are a thing.
- Ring of FIRE is a thing.
- Rings have HOLEs; both Rings and HOLEs are round.

FIRE connects to both Chariot and Ring; HOLE connects to both Cheshire and Ring. (Counterpoint: the one thing that connected to both Cheshire and Chariot was wrong.)

Ring doesn't strike me as a super-obvious connection for any one item, so I don't think it's meant to be a 1-clue.

Just between those three, without regards to any other clues, HOLD = FIRE > SPY.

I kind of think we should do hole and fire, circle back to some of the earlier clues, and then go to spy later if we feel we run out of options. since we don't know how many fit into ring, I don't think we should go too far into this clue.
