What do you see as the difference between a cop that divines roles and a cop that divines alignments?

Others have kind of touched on this, but Role Cop has a much higher utility for scum than it does for Town. Town does NOT generally want to out a bunch of Power Role information early in the game (or really anytime pre-massclaim). Town's most powerful weapon (the lynch) generally doesn't care if a particular scumbag is a Goon, a Blocker, or a Godfather... Scum on the other hand REALLY WANT TO FIND POWER so they can kill it at Night. Power Roles are very difficult to lynch (Governor and other negative-utility roles being the exception).

A regular (Alignment) Cop, on the other hand, is almost the most powerful role Town can have. For scum it is useless except in multiball games, which this almost assuredly is not at 10p. Pair that with the utility of comparing flavor information on any given claim, and the Role Cop becomes nigh-useless for Town, very dangerous in the hands of Scum. Hence, the lack of a derailed wagon.

well I saw the "case" on NS from Kid and it's pretty lame. Darox didn't post one and neither did Gor. Kid's case basically came because he was forced to, it wasn't a natural progression of wanting to scum hunt, it was an "oh shit I am getting lynched, quick better try and look town"

this quote totally seems like something scum would say. I can easily think of 3 other investigative roles that would work. Regular cop, tracker, and watcher. boom


bottom line is you have been scummy, you tried to gain town cred by pushing on Darox but you started avoiding questions and you never actually scum hunted. You tried to mess with the bull and got the horns and now I am getting you lynched. The kicker is like what flay pointed out, you start asking people questions when you have ignored questions. Also what I pointed out, you didn't start scum hunting until you got attention on yourself.

ok so basically I found 2 main things from you

1. he was defending TIP - This is 100% null, even the fact that he was hard core defending him, it's really null. Having played with players (rainbow dash comes to mind) who hardcore defend their town reads all the time, there isn't anything scummy about it AND I don't really see scum intent.

2. You liked Kid's case on Notscience - imo that case by Kid was horrible.
