They were trying to simulate how idols are replenished on the show. Russell Hantz did a similar pick up the idol immediately after he played it in Samoa.
If there was ever a question of how many idols is too many at least we have quantifiable numbers?
I don't know if I'd call the merge predictable, Ani did write a slightly incorrect prediction list around the F7... :P

As a pre-merge I don't recall the post-merge being that bad.

We all remember our first, yours just happened to be as exciting as watching someone watch someone else make copies of blank idols

"slightly incorrect"

Also, similarity to Samoa is not a great thing to strive for lmao. I was a mod of Eon and during it we had conversations about how including so many idols was a mistake

It sounds like there though the idol was only planted after he used it, and there probably wasn't a sign saying "There is an idol here" before it was there. I think I theoretically could have used the link I did to find the idol a day or so earlier, and I probably would have been told there was no idol there, which in every other game means it was already taken. After I played the one I had, I would then not have gotten it back, just because I found it too early. To me it wouldn't have ended up mattering, since I never got to play it the second time, but that possibility just seemed really awkward ever since then.

I will say that everything else about the game was really good, from the challenges to the playerlist to the format, which at least, as was mentioned, made it for for the players. I don't want to take away from that.

344. Donkey Kong (SensFan) - Mushroom Kingdom

"A few hours in, and I've been approached by a short, fat, ugly man that no one likes, asking me to ally with him. Here's hoping
Russel
Wario continues his terrible play when it comes to the jury."

that was the only thing he ever wrote

343. Master Chief (TenHaven) - Destiny Islands

Image

"No way would I do that without knowing what the "hidden" is, it could be crap for all I know, my closest ally will probably trump it anyway"

I actually called this player "the most oblivious player I've ever met." There is
NO
talk of strategy. There is
LITTLE
talk of his allies. For christ's sake, he has no idea what this hidden thing is (duh... it's a HII). It's an utter trainwreck. Master Chief was saved numerous times in TCs thanks to inactive players (or wonky ass TCs) in which Master Chief had little to no say about.

To follow it up, I don't think his own allies (if he even had any...) cared whether he existed or not. Instead of the typical power player early merge boots you see, that was delayed to boot Master Chief, and oh boy were there power players.

As touched on earlier, Master Chief's power was he could lose his vote to send his tribe to TC. Not a really good one.

But it's a BAD trainwreck. It wasn't a fun train wreck to watch.
