There were 5 town power roles, not one investigative or protective. Four of them turned confirmed town, one was lynched.
Town had 5 mislynches and 1 miskill, and 4 mafia lynches.
Town needed to mislynch 9 times to lose.
They needed to lynch correctly 4 times to win.
The pool was 4 mafia 5 town power roles and 16 vanilla townies.
Without town investigative or protective power, mafia needed just one person who was townish enough.
That didn't happen though, so they lost.

Well actually the kills make sense up to a point
But after Gamma died, killing Hopkirk/Wavemode wasn't the best play, killing Krazy and then keeping only one of me/TBG to endgame gives you a far better shot at endgaming. I think I wouldn't have caught GR until the game didn't end at a 6p mislynch
