Chapter 4 - The feast

The lunchtime feast brought smiles on the weary faces, and joined their voices in laughter.
But the pure exhilaration of the victory soon gave way to a much baser kind of joy, fueled
by casks of aged ale. It was this drunken haze that would eventually cost the lives of two
innocents, and crush the spirits of the brave villagers once more.

Hana Song was a veteran member of the militia, and though she had slain several of the
undead single-handedly, she was accustomed to a life of luxury and personal privileges,
earning her the affectionate nickname Diva — which she despised no less than she did
ghouls. But the jovial atmosphere on the table easily lent itself to unwelcome jests, and so
Novak, along with R.B. and a few others found the temptation to abuse her patience
irresistible.

NotNova:
What's the matter, Diva? Upset that it wasn't you who killed the last two ghouls?
DVa:
No. I'm upset you weren't one of them.
rb:
Wow, look at the diva getting all bloodthirsty over a joke. She should grow a sense of humour, in my
opinion.
DVa:
How about you grow a fork in your eye?
NotNova:
Geese, Diva, calm down.
bristep123:
If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're just looking for reasons to murder people.
rb:
Wow yeah, that's a bit ghoulish in my opinion.
DVa:
Excuse me?
Egix96:
I'll be honest, you're getting a bit scarier than actual ghouls right now. Assuming you're not secretly
one of them.
NotNova:
How do you know she's not?
rb:
Wow, now that you said it I definitely sense the ghoul in her, in my opinion.

Hana sprang from her chair and slammed her fists on the table. The plates clattered over
the merry jeers and the sudden noise cut them off like a knife. Now they could hear she
was quietly sobbing.

DVa (clapping):
Yes. I am a ghoul. You finally caught me. Congratulations.

No one answered. An apology began to form on Novak's lips, but Hana did not wait for it.

DVa:
What's the matter? Aren't you going to lynch me? Come on, I'm a ghoul.
NotNova:
I didn—
DVa:
Oh. Right. You want proof. As you wish.

Hana looked at the knife in her hand, and within a second sent it straight into Novak's
throat. He only managed to wheeze once before crashing on the floor, convulsing and
spraying blood.

DVa:
What's the matter, great champions? Is one delicate little diva too much for you? FINE, I WILL MAKE
IT EASIER.

They swooped in to restrain her, but she had already jammed the fork in her own chest.
Panicked, the villagers stormed out to seek healers, old wives, anyone who could help
Hana and Novak. Having heard the desperate screams, two nearby travellers sprinted to
the inn to lend their aid, but they were too late. Tentatively, the militiamen waited for
either body to shed its mortal disguise. It did not happen this time.

I'm not saying I think he's town. I'm saying you're trying too hard to fit his play to a meta of exactly one game.

It's not necessary to have a strong townread on someone in order to defend them. I'd defend even a scumread from an accusation I thought was unreasonable.

I also wouldn't really call what DLA did defending, and certainly not hard defending. It looks like he's just questioning and trying to get you to talk more about your read.

Oh, you're one of those ***** that butts in so the questioner doesn't get a reaction to judge.

I mean, I don't think extremely leading questions make good reaction tests...

Is this where I self-vote again?

Also bristep, do you have an issue with that? I support arguments that are logical and make sense, and I oppose those that don't. To support an argument that doesn't make sense just because I happen to agree with its conclusion is pure confirmation bias.

Yes. some people try to get reactions out of scum, sometimes being illogical or unreasonable will put them on the wrong foot. If you wade in and defend them, especially if you think they are scum you're essentially helping them not stand out.

I don't play logically, I play emotionally. Does that make me wrong to you?

The lack of pot/kettle awareness here is kind of funny.

No, but it means I'm not likely to support your reads and reasoning. I wouldn't interfere with a question just because it was meant to elicit an emotional response, but I don't really like the idea of intentionally making no sense to make someone confused or frustrated.

I guess if you want I can refrain from commenting on your questions until you get a response, but you'll have to explain after the fact what information you got out of that response.

Yeah, it's rough when people demand you play differently.
Though...aren't you trying to tell him to play differently also?

I dare submit neither of you are actually wrong or right here.

Let's vote Leodanny some more while we ponder that insight.

@Dunn

Also, I'm currently voting Leodanny, so if you move and Pers votes him, that's a three vote wagon which would make it amongst the biggest currently. So...?

Don’t worry you can just reappear the question, or, better yet, get a question that no one could ever refute.

Meh, Leodanny's flip is going to be as useful as his slot currently is I feel, he was hella lynchbaity in 1898 too, I definitely wouldn't want to this slot to make it to MyLo/LyLo. I think it's fine to take our chances here *shrug*

Persivul, anyone else you're scumreading strongly?

What's your read on RB? Thor, you think RB's slot is iffy, don't you think that flip is better?

Actually stuff like this reads as kind of scummy

And why so? I'm just reasoning my compromise, I did the same thing in Newbie 1900 and voted a non-contributing slot D1. Although that slot went inactive then and didn't claim he was the doctor.

I'm still waiting for Egix's answer on the reaction test thing -- his play so far has been a bit underwhelming, and that's also I wagon I'm currently fine with.

Compromise lynches?
Not interested in an RB wagon.
Your slot I wanted out but I really liked your post, and the wagon was not impressive before the replacement.
Thor, Dunn, Egix, S_S, bristep are all wagons I'd be fine with ATM but I don't think there's enough to actually case any of them.

Let's vote Egix?
