Well - I'm definitely not scum.
DJ - I'm sorry you feel that way, but playstyle arguments only get you so far. If you find yourself constantly getting lynched because of your playstyle, I'd argue it's not a very effective playstyle.
Having said that, I think the gulf between yourself and AFC isn't as high as you think it is. You don't seem genuine in your sucmhunting or in your confusion - something that townies suffer constantly. AFC didn't either so much in D2 and D3 but then claimed his later days were due to not being around/apathy, which - as irritating as that is - I believed.
I think Xtomx's point about not voting duckduck after ruling out me and AFC crowned that point for me. Genuinely frustrated and confused townies (such as myself), when they finally have something concrete, they push and push because they are finally on firm ground.. os to see you make the breathrough that allows a safe vote for duckduck from your perspective and then unvote is a shocker.
Of course, all this analysis now makes me look stupid if we've got it wrong.
Wanna let us know if you're scum, DJ?

Awesome!
I'm glad I solved the puzzle correctly
Really, I found you a lot more scummy than AFC. That's why I chose you. I understand you feeling bitter, because I think you'd have won if TC had been here.

Ah, simulposted.
Grats town!
Yep - well credit to Xtomx for making the observation that blew it open for me. Saved the game for us, no doubt.
AFC - I gotta say, I'm really frustrated with you. If you'd put in half the effort that the rest of the town were putting in, I think this would have been an easy win. Part of committing to the game is committing to a decent attempt at playing properly and helping your team and I felt you just didn't deliver on that front.
I'll tkae credit for duckduck, but that's about all I did this game.. little under par overall I think, but I'm happy with the result

I think she knew the mafia, but they didn't know her, or that she existed.

That was my assumption as well but did she count as a mafia for win condition? So if there were 6 people including duckduck and don and SL, would that be a mafia win?
If that's the case then yeah, we could have been in lylo on D2 (forget aobut the SK).
But that reminds me - thank you mods, especially alex who took over and dealt with my annoying PMs every time a hammer vote was cast and I was deathly curious to find out what had happened.

sorry, but i had to own it. i'm not bitter at all. i play for fun. i keep track of my record as more of a conversation piece. eventually, though, i'm going to need an alt. xtox read well.
kai: i considered not killing you, but my second choice was obviously tcorp. i guess i could have gone for serial, but i was waiting to see which way the winds blew. honestly i thought my unvote was going to help me, but it backfired.
honestly, SC is right, i should have busted out some better posts towards the end.

I actually had all intentions of making a decent case against DJ in lylo and making this a fun game on the last day. However, i haven't had much time to put forth for this game as i have been spending most/all my free time with my girlfriend as her aunt just passed away friday. So i had been in the hospital with them the whole week prior, and the viewing and funeral this weekend.Xtoxm wrote:Iwouldlike to see a wholesome townie post from afatchic.
Great job Xtoxm to come in and take control over this game and get a win for everyone who put there efforts in it.

I figured that was what DJ was attempting to do. Since i wasn't in any other games at the time, i would have been the only person you couldn't prove was on the site prior to day starting again. I was amazed that wasn't pulled against me.Kairyuu wrote:Whooot!

Haha well done town! woohoo! that would be my first ever completed game :p yay for win!
For the record I didn't use my one-shot vig at all (damnit! was looking forward to that) and I self-investigated N1 for sanity (turns out sane >.>).
Which definitely leaves me puzzled about magnus' death :p

Well honestly, up until the next to last day i had. Not really sure why, but i did lose interest. It was an interesting and upbeat game for the most part, but i just couldn't find the time to get back into it. I did intend to reread though, and make a decent case against DJ, knowing he was the last scum, but them all this came up with my g/f and her aunt kinda quick and i didn't have time.SerialClergyman wrote:AFC - that explains a lot. I'm sorry for my reaction, but as you can imagine given that I didn't know that, it just looked like you'd lost interest in the game or similar.
I would definitely still call it a fun game, though, so don't worry too much!
And yes, i can completely understand your frustration, as i have been in your position before. However, a general rule of thumb when playing with me, If i am lurking and don't replace out, im not scum. I hate when scum lurk through the entire game and win it. The only time i actually started a game with a scum role i replaced out about halfway through because i fell behind.

I have heard of that quite a bit.SerialClergyman wrote:Odd choice to self-investigate.. is that common? For one thing - it only rules out paranoid, it doesn't rule out naive... seems like, for me, I'd be more likely to just risk it, or work out sanity after a mislynch..
For instance: You investigate yourself N1: Inno (Your either real, naive)
You investigate Player X N2: Guilty (Your Real)
You investigate Player X N1: Guilty (Your either real, insane, paranoid)
You investigate Player Y N2: Inno (Your either real, insane)
So now you know one is scum and one is not, but your not a whole lot better off.
Generally i think self investigation is great, but only if you make it a couple days into the game. However, i don't think many mods actually let you do it anymore.

Yeha, still have no idea about the magnus kill. Unless shaved/killed were actually inverse? I just assumed a falvour mistake (and thought alex's flavour reference to burning the d3 lynch was a toungue-in-cheek reference to the fact that we were overly caring aobut what type of killing it was)
I agree in the situation you outlined AFC that self-investigate is better - if you get inno on yourself and guilty on someone else you've determined sanity and guilt. But you get 1 less investigation on the town at large.. our biggest power role, with the ability to kill someone and investigate, ended up getting one innocent on himself and then copped it!
Maybe magnus self-killed to determine sanity?

Oh god. That is BRILLIANT. magnus used to talk alot about a gambit he wanted to run that involved drawing a doc protect and self-targetting as scum. That must mean he actually tried it.
Because, no matter how you dress it up, that's what the world is. A community of idiots doing a series of things until the world explodes and we all die.
BAHAHAHA gold :pSC wrote: Maybe magnus self-killed to determine sanity?
Yeh in retrospect it would have been handy if I had of got more out of the role. I figured I'd save the vig ability since guilty investigation + one-shot vig seems like a handy trick, no need to claim, no need to convince people to lynch so we can focus elsewhere
I wonder if I would have died if we didn't have a confirmed town TC though (I'm assuming the logic was "TC will be doc protected for sure so NK someone else") Any word from our resident scumpair?
I'm also interested in the opinions of some of the veteran players as to the optimal level of towniness a PR should really display. I've been mulling over it in my mind and its pretty much untownieness = higher chance to be lynched, less chance to be believed at role claim (whether at L-1 or claim to give a guilty investigation), townieness = higher chance to be NK'd, higher chance to be believed at role claimm, and higher chance to be able to push a wagon on a guilty without needing to claim.
