I was under the impression that Mastina's earlygame claims are to be taken with a pinch of salt

I mean.
Yes.
But usually the claims are made deliberately and meticulously and thoroughly planned out in advance.

You can

usually

trust sporadic-in-the-heat-of-the-moment early claims to be true because that sort of whimsy isn't something I plan out. I just...get the idea that it's the right thing to do, so I do it, consequences be damned.

If I'm not explicitly claiming it from pretty much my first post, then it's probably not actually fake.

I'd 100% vengeful a mason to get hard confirm elsa and put someone who actually knows how to play effective mafia in a position of power. I'd argue that it's literally the most pro-town thing that I could do. So please, help me help town.

Yeah the problem with that is multiple-fold.
1: Vengekills are a shot at hitting scum. By deliberately aiming at town, you're deliberately avoiding playing to your wincon.
2: Vengekills resolve before the night phase. Guess what happens once one mason is vengekilled? You go into night. Guess what the mafia have? A nightkill. End result? Both masons dead before the end of the night. Don't fucking think this game wouldn't have a fucking strongman, because Krazy absolutely gives scum a role like that every single game, pretty much.
3: The mason claim is self-resolving. Scum literally

can't

let us live forever, so what will they do?
Oh yeah.
On their fucking own.
Without a vengekill.
Kill us.

Panzer's not a fucking moron.
He knows all of these.
So he fucking knows better than this.

Ergo.
His threat to vengekill a mason?
Empty at best, gamethrowing at worst. Unless of course he were a scum vengeful, in which case absolutely yeah vengekilling us is the correct play.

It's about as blatant a scumclaim as you can get.

Give me 2 nights. If the power of Dark Cookies cannot resolve it, then we react.

On the one hand.
I wouldn't expect Alchemist to be this lackluster as town.
On the other hand.

I also wouldn't expect Alchemist to be this terrible as scum?
I've SEEN him be scum; he did much much better than THIS. (No seriously, check his scumgame. It's not this terrible.)
I've also seen him as town, and he also did much much more than this. (Basically any towngame. Not this lackluster.)
So.
Alch's ambivalent, for what it's worth. I don't know what to make of him here because regardless of his alignment I'd expect something better than what I'm seeing.

I do claim, then my claim's out in the open and exposed.
