It will be a Mini Theme with 8-12 players (6-8 Resistance [town] and 2-4 Combine [mafia]). Then again, it could turn into a Large Theme.

Any questions/suggestions?
I was thinking of doing something similar. Maybe u could add some Xen too? (Im hoping that this will be a large themed.)

Anyone interested in The Dangerous Days of Daniel X mafia? (based on the book by James Patterson.) I'm thinking of doing this but am not yet sure.

Im think of also doing and Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion mafia. This will be a huge game, with plenty of factions (Dark Brotherhood, Guards, Townspeople, Daedra, Fighter's Guild, Thieves Guild etc.) On top of doing 1 big grand game, I'm also thinking of doing lesser games based on events in the game (Battle for Castle Kvatch, Guild quests, Blades, Daedra etc.)

Anyone interested in these games?

RayFrost wrote:Far Cry, I'd be interested in the oblivion one. Would you mind explaining the mechanics in more detail? As it is, it's too vague to really get an idea of what would go down in-game, IMO.
I'm still designing the game and making up ideas. I'm just wondering how many players I should have.

I'm probably going to have major players in the game in my game (i.e. Martin, whose role I haven't though of yet, Jauffre, who will be the head of the Blades, which might be a mason/vigilantie group. I might also have Hannibal Traven, head of the Mage's guild, which can be a mason group etc.) I'll try to keep you updated as I come up with ideas.

@RayFrost: I might also do a lesser event or questline in the game first, pehaps like the Battle for Castle Kvatch, to get a feel of how the game will roll.

That was perhaps the worst book I ever started reading, and I include
Breaking Dawn
in that statement.
I'd agree with half of that. Breaking Dawn (and the whole Twilight series) sucks.

Dangerous Days of Daniel X was simply an extremely strang book in my opinion; however, I thought it would make a good subject for a mafia game.

Well, if you guys don't like it, I won't do it.

I know. I have to wait until the 15th until I can mod, and then will have to mod a few other games before I move on to my other ideas.

I'm also thinking of a pickpocket mafia, a crime-based mafia, a black market mafia, and the real mafia mafia (which will involve a structure similar to real-life mafia.) I might even connect the game together. I will try to elaborate more on my ideas, but I have a lot projects and homework at school.

Thats an interesting idea. I suggest you do it. However, you should elaborate more.
~Jordan` wrote:I've wanted to base a mafia on a disease (choosing between Plague, Black Death, Swine Flu, etc.), but I'm still working on balancing the disease and the townies...

It'll be the win condition of the town to stop/survive it. There will be minimal mafia...but its still uninformed majority vs informed minority (town wont be able to ;earn the ability except by trial and error)
Another good idea. Elaborate more when you have put up the finishing touches.

~Jordan` wrote:the main issue is not making it seem like a computer code to simply crack rather than the game of mafia. Instead of making it a self-propelling disease, i could made it a regular mafia with the disease at their disposabile, still contagious ofc.

The basic disease: anyone w/ it will die in 3 Days, townies are unable to read the ability, and the ability is spread like a disease.
Interesting idea. I hope it comes through.

Sorry if for going off-topic here and not saying something on Demon's setup, but I have the following ideas that I would love to mod (note: I don't have much laid out in them.):

Team Fortress 2 (ooooh, am I excited to do this one)
Wolfenstein (note: this one will be based on the new 2009 game)
Oblivion (an old idea of mine.)
StarRisk, Ltd. (a book, info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Risk,_Ltd.)
Command & Conquer
Splinter Cell

These are just a few of my ideas, but there's no way I could possibly get them all down. Any of you interested in any of these?

RedCoyote wrote:Far_Cry, I would love to play a TF2 themed game, especially if it had some neat, team-based mechanics to it. Keep me posted. Not really interested in any of the other ideas personally.
Yes, TF2 was really one of my top ideas. It's probably going to take sometime, though, because I hope to include all classes, and have each player select a custom loadout for the class they get.

Again, forgive me for not having many details to present to you guys, but would anybody be interested in a Command & Conquer mafia? It would be based on the Tiberium universe (and possible Red Alert and Generals in the future.) I would use GDI, Nod, and perhaps Scrin. Units, vehicles, and special ablilties will probably from throughout the whole series (though then again, I could base it only on one of the games.)

@AurorusVox: I would love to see a Diablo game (I'd most surely join.) Plants vs. Zombies and Geometry Wars are interesting ideas though I'm not sure how you can execute them....

I have also finally come up with a Peggle idea though - every time you lynch scum, you get another lynch that day. Lynching a certain number of scum in a row gives you increasingly good PRs for one or more of those people on the scum wagon. Scum are mostly "orange", one of those is "pink" (it changes each lynch) which boost your PR level, and one is always "green" which gives you some sort of super PR if you lynch him, regardless of the combo line. Bonus points for going from a colour to a colour without hitting any blues :p

I have no idea if it's feasible, but I was imagining VTs make good "blues", and just seeing that little pinball bouncing off the scum made me chuckle >:)
This seems too confusing. I suggest your pursue one of your other ideas.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've just become obsessed with Peggle atm >_>"
I'm not one to go into casual games (don't like them; I prefer hardcore gaming.) But I know what Peggle is and have heard it's quite addicting. However, considering I'm still the hardcore gamer, I'd perfer Diablo.
