I saw How To Train Your Dragon while babysitting and I was suddenly struck with inspiration for a large theme. Seriously, it was a magical moment. All the roles just came to me. Would HTTYD Mafia be something you guys would /in for?I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.- Umbrage

Town A and Town B
Mafia A and Mafia B.
Town A wins when Mafia A is eliminated
Town B wins when Mafia B is eliminated.
Mafia A wins when Town A cannot win
Mafia B wins when Town B cannot win
The inspiration was old style D&D alignments
Lawful Good and Chaotic Good are the two towns
Chaotic Evil and Lawful Evil are the two scum.
I tried creating a setup like that. Only I had all kinds of alignments. The scum would be the four corners of alignment, each wanting the others gone. Then there were players in the middle: so a chaotic character would cooperate with CG and CE players, but would want any lawful character dead. Chaotic Evil characters want all lawful and good characters dead.
I couldn't work the concept into a viable setup though. Maybe someday I'll dig it up again...I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.- Umbrage

This is close to being completed. The setup's been reviewed, but I'll probably make a few minor tweaks before launch. 30 players, bastard theme. Just need to polish off the role PMs before I enter the queue. Feel free to spam me with PMs reminding me to work on it.I'll explain it to you. OK, I just came up with an idea a few minutes ago. Apologies if this has been done before.
Modkill Mafia
It's nightless and vanilla. The key is that there are a set of rules the mod creates before the game. These rules are random post restrictions, forbidding certain words, or ways of voting, all things that players do in a typical mafia game. The scum know what these rules are, the town does not. Each player has a set of lives, around 5 or so. Every time a player breaks one of the rules, they lose a life. If they lose all lives, they are modkilled and removed from the game. Players can lynch normally. When a player breaks a rule, the offending post is pointed out, and the number of the rule is stated, but not the rule itself. A player can only lose one life per RL day, no matter how many rules they break or how many times they break a rule.
The town has to figure out what the rules are and who already knows them. The scum have to look like they're figuring out the rules and try and get the town to break as many rules as possible. Standard majority win conditions apply.
What do you think? Could something like this be balanced?I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.- Umbrage

would there be interest in Dishonored Mafia?
planning a large game with abilities that can be gained or upgraded via Runes and additional rules introduced based on player actions (via a Chaos meter that measures player aggression)
so if players change their votes a lot or lynch early Chaos increases and the game becomes more random and deadly, and if players take their time and unvote frequently the game stays at a less crazy level
same thing with player abilities, if you get enough Runes you can turn from a VT to a JoaT, and you can (for example) choose whether you want a kill or roleblock shot - which in turn affects the amount of Chaos in the game
in effect players determine how bastardly the game is
have there been any similar games I can draw inspiration from?I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.Copyright © MafiaScum. All rights reserved.
