dang, people keep on thinking of stuff that I was thinking of..
So..random themes worked out already in my notebook which people could probably borrow if they felt like it.
Blind Buffy II - blind mafia accounts, but have to hand in passwords.. hmm..
mafiascum 2005 - forum goes down and when the lights come back on there's onyl 12 left, with accounts rearranged. town gets together to ban each other but also to play a game of mafia... (requires 2 threads, only current players (no IS or anything))
shakespeare. King gets 2 votes, publically announced, insert lots of messed up quotes from actual shakespeare texts, uses themes and readings and all kinds of unexpected stuff.
[blade runner - replicants and voight-kampf tests]
[maths mafia]
perfectly normal mafia - roles from front page
perfectly normal mafia v.2 same name, completely different setup, also roles from front page.
[] means I haven't totally finished deciding on setups and stuff.
but since mod lines are surprisingly long, anyone who wants anything is welcome to it. (EDIT: only Shakespeare isn't a mini)
EDIT2: and Whenever there's a Will mafia. Roles passed on in death....whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

Sorry, I got a little carried away (okay, very carried away), but I did post that to see if there is interest, not to hype. Although it is ironic seeing you post that after this:PolarBoy wrote:

The mini moderating sign-ups here are highly regulated to limit competition between mods. I didn't start this thread to promote it. What this is here for is so that you can find out whether or not there's interest in a particular theme so that you don't go to the trouble of writing it for no audience. This way when I say "I was thinking about doing a game based on 'Seabert'." and when I hear crickets chirping instead of a resounding "I'd play that!" I'll know not to waste everybody's time with it.theme
By the way anyone who has suggestions on how I can keep this thread clean while remaining fair to posters would definitely find a ready set of ears here.
I would be interested in School, Austin Powers, Charmed, The Mole, Reality – Not sure what that is about. Star Trek.PolarBoy wrote: Just please do not take this thread too seriously. I mostly put it up as an underhanded way to hype Homestar Runner Mafia. Which, by the way, is going to be Revengeanceful.
So until next time, keep posting your crap, and I'll keep posting mine.
But really, 1. Do people who aren’t planning to mod really frequent this place
and 2. Is this thread really necessary if its only to see if there is interest? One can always just “float” the mafia game and change themes if no one is interested....whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

You should stick the thread in theme park, and give it the title "C&C Mafia - DAY ONE, 10 to Convict!"Prizm wrote:Would anyone be interested in playing Command and Conquer Mafia?
Or something.
I'd also be interested in anything on Feudal Japan. Shogun: Total War was sweet. And was the translation of Sun Tzu's Art of War that I got. As is the suicide mechanic. ESPECIALLY the suicide mechanic, for more reasons than one.
Oh, one other thing. Assassin Mafia would be cool, based around that game that Neo ran on the GL....whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

Sun Tzu was first introduced to Japan as early as 400 A.D.
What we found was nothing less than Japan's earnest efforts in applying Sun Tzu to warfare; the samurai would peruse its contents before each battle. From Takeda Shingen to Minamoto Yoshitsune, they were among the most diligent practitioners of the book's concepts. Thus, it was appropriate to use the Japanese word for Sun Tzu: Sonshi.
Though I first got this info from Shogun: The Art of War.. some video game.
Interested in Cadmium's...whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

How about resolving by:
Dice rolling... you do 3+[6d...rolls a 5] damage. He does 4+[6d...rolls a 3] damage. You kill him.
Or something...
Ninja combat?
And you don't need to have ranks go from 1 to NumberOfPlayers... you could have ti go to NumberOfPlayers + 5 or something....whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

I have 3 ideas for my next mafia game, but not sure which one to work on:
Something based on Diplomacy
Greek Plays (Tragedies, sort-of-sequel to shakespeare)
-> How many Australians or NZers are there on this forum?
Something involving encryption....whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.- Wacky

*Standard "if I have time" clause applies. Which I don't... *
I have an idea for a zombie-themed mafia-esque, ORG-esque (even though I know nothing about ORGs, I'm just guessing), RPG-esque, board game-esque game, but I don't have the time or [probably] the patience.
So basically, I'm looking for someone (or many people) to work with on this. PM me if interested.
Also, I have various ideas for
time travelling mixed theme (but that's done to death on this forum, so that's on hold until scene comes back), and
an anime-themed game with non-standard win conditions.
[I like experimental games.]
But like I said, although I like thinking up weird roles, I'm not really cut out for modding, so if anyone's wants the setup (well, more like a sketch of a setup, I can't remember what exactly I had), or just wants someone to bounce ideas off, PM me or something.Copyright © MafiaScum.
