I like a lot of those ideas but it's a pity you can't sign up for them all. I have an idea for a 'nothing is as it seems' mafia but knowing my luck it's going to end up similar to Chaos, improbable roles, etc.

Anything about a card game, I'd be interested in.

Me too but it's unlikely we'll get to play along with all the other good ideas going unless it's a full game.

I'm starting a game of Clubs&Socs Mafia on another site.

Basically, it's set in the college where there are many rival clubs and societies, and each player plays the role of one club/soc each with there own agenda, powers, allies/rivals, etc.

Must be plenty college students here. I'm thinking of running a game based on based on the clubs and societies that one would normally find in a college.

Would a set-up where none of the roles would be from the roles list here, but otherwise normal mafia be considered normal or themed?

Games without good and evil can work. If everyone had their own alterior motive rather than to just survive/kill off all evil. Of course you would have some people who can help you achive your goal and some that will hinder you, even though they also have their own goal to keep in mind, and for the most part, you won't be able to tell who is friend or foe immediately.

Also, make most of the goals really hard to achieve so the game either takes a while before someone get's theirs or after a set period of time, the person who came closest to completing their goal wins the game.

I might run a game like that sometime. Of course it will deviate from the basis of mafia quite a bit but not too much, and I'd make sure everyone knows what they are letting themselves in for before the sign up.

It's a very interesting idea and I think it just might work. Though, if a lot of powerful town roles landed in the same house and they managed to confirm each other's innocence, then they are in very good shape.

I'd also be interested in what happens if 2 mafia end up in the same house, and how they will get on with and prehaps manipulate the third.

Just because you mention something to do with a religion, doesn't mean people will be offended by it. But I'm not sure how you're going to make roles out of it. Just becuase there are twelve of them, doesn't make it a suitable theme. Well, maybe you have something in mind, and if so, go for it.

I thought up a good theme last night as well, but I forgot it  . I'll post it when I remember it.

Go for it! Being based on the bible as a whole, rather than just the 12 apostles, would give you more scope to work with.

As for my idea, I propose the theme:
The Wrath Of Nature
.

If it was smaller (~15 player), I'd play.
