I'm not sure if this has been done before, but it was a weird idea that came into my head the other day.

Mason Madness Mafia
(Name subject to much change shall it become a real game)
16 Player Game, including 4 Scum, 1 SK, and 11 Town roles (roles could be distributed, I didnt make any possible role setups yet because this is only an idea I wanted a few opinions on the actual them first).

Heres the catch though. There are 3-5 pairs of Masons that are randomly assigned once roles are sent out. These pairs can talk between each other during night, but do not know the identity of the other.

This grew from the idea of possible setups on a 9 hour plane ride the other day when I was wondering how fun it would be if the SK was a mason with a scum, but each thought their partner was a townie.

Could this work, or am I just filled with crazed thoughts that could not work?

I like the fact that roles could change based on the random order of days, but I dont think all of the roles should be based on the day #. Also, what about the possibility of a role that can change the day number (ex: chooses to move ahead 1-3 days each night).

I also don't agree with games that look like normal games but end up being something different. While themes are fun, sometimes I (and others) want to be in a normal game, where the theme is easily figured out (in normal games it is simple: there is none).

I was more referring to the post NabakovNabakov pointed out, how Adel wanted to run a theme game but try to hide it with a flavor theme (just flavor, no theme), or have it a normal game.

I dont like the idea in general of having pro-town roles knowing for certian the identity of a scum. That, and Im not sure about the number of roles requiring certain actions to happen (it might dissuay players if they spend almsot all the game without having a faction to be on).

I would be interested in both rap battle and geocidal mafias. The first is a very unique idea (though I would suck at writing raps though), and the second...well...I like the flavor.

I have been thinking of doing a Pulp Fiction based Mini Theme once my current Mini Normal is finished. Would this work as a good idea, and has it been done before (I would think so, but I can't seem to find a record of that).

I'm not sure what I shoudl run for my Mini Theme I want to run soon:

Ideas I have:

Alchoholics Anonymous Mafia (Basically, a bunch of drunks realize that they want to revolt against the bartenders for overcharging them. They're drunk, it makes sense)
Delusional D-Bag Mafia (Everyone is quite delusional, or something like that)
Internet Mafia (You are the internet, now you must lynch your fellow websites?)
This Role Sucks Mafia (I found a bunch of roles from the Worst Roles Thread...that I really want to use. I'm thinking of half balancing out them, and half...sort of bastardized).
Nocmen Hates His Life Mafia (Me and my friends that played mafia IRL thought recently of how our personalities would fit into roles. Some of the inside jokes are lost, but my friends are very fucked up, it could work out).

Any comments on my ideas, and/or which one I should try and use ?

Damn it Flay...I had an idea that involved Jurys in Mafia, but it was a twist between Mafia, Jury Duty, and a bunch of other messed up stuff.

# of players unknown, I was thinking a 12 person with 3:9 mafia, but it would be best if this was nightless, so 12 person nightless would be really long. Maybe 2:6 or 2:5 as the ratio to test this out.

Basically, every day, a person is voted to become the Prosecutor, majority rules applying. The prosecutor has a fun job of their own, which is to choose someone to press charges against. The plaintiff will then be put on trial, with the jury as everyone except themselves and the prosecutor. All players may bring up their own evidence in order to prove the plaintiff as guilty (of being scum), or innocent. Once a majority vote is obtained for one or the other in the jury, that is the verdict. If the verdict is guilty the Plaintiff is killed. If he is found innocent, however, the Prosecuter is killed.

Would this work? It's not straight Mafia, but it was an idea I thought of today in government class while talking about trials, and thought it would be fun to play with mafia, as people would have their own reasons for making someone play either role.

Something else from my mental void last week:

Let's Make a Deal...Mafia style.

Starts off as a normal with probably a 3:9 or maybe 2:10 balance of Mafia:Town. Each day, I have a set of doors, each with a "prize" behind them. Normal lynching applies, but each day the players also decide on the contestants for who will get the "prizes". It would then be played like Let's Make a Deal, where the contestants get their prizes and then the night occurs.

Would it work? Feedback? Should the "prizes" be made public to all players, or just the contestant?

As I've hinted at in other threads, I am probably looking to host a sequel to my Alchoholics Anonymous mafia in the coming months. I'm adding a drinking system, making actions change on how much you've drunk, and ways to change others drinks / spike them, etc. And some really fucktarded roles too.
