I'm n00b, so I'm not really well informed on mafia and such, and I haven't read through the threads much, but has anyone madePost-Nuke Mafiayet? I guess that could be great, you know, survivors don't know who the scavengers are, scavengers go nightkilling for water rations, etc. Perhaps peace-keeping forces or soldiers instead of cops, you know, and can be varied with water rations, like everyone has their daily rations, and if somebody steals it, they die of thirst, and... whatever, maybe this is lame after all.scumchat never die- Korts

I like this idea. A bit like "Ten little indians."
Basically, every day, a person is voted to become the Prosecutor, majority rules applying. The prosecutor has a fun job of their own, which is to choose someone to press charges against. The plaintiff will then be put on trial, with the jury as everyone except themselves and the prosecutor. All players may bring up their own evidence in order to prove the plaintiff as guilty (of being scum), or innocent. Once a majority vote is obtained for one or the other in the jury, that is the verdict. If the verdict is guilty the Plaintiff is killed. If he is found innocent, however, the Prosecuter is killed.
Has anyone done a Dick Tracy Mafia yet? I have a pretty clear idea, been thinking about it for days. Multiple cops, less town, more scum, fun galore.scumchat never die- Korts

About this Shakespeare's Villains Mafia, I had an idea of a Montague vs. Capulet Mafia. In my mind it should be nightless, and the Capulets have to get Romeo killed while the Montagues' goal is to see Thybalt dead. I have a hazy idea of each family picking a player from the other family, and letting the two chosen players duel somehow. That's how far I got.
Edit: This has the problem of not being interesting to the players who are not Romeo or Thybalt. Also, a family would also win if the montague:capulet ratio reaches 1:2 or 2:1.
Edit: Also, Romeo and Juliet would naturally be lovers, if Juliet dies, both families lose. Also, Mercutio would be a Bodyguard. Also, there could be a third party with Friar Laurence and the Apothecary and some others, Laurence's win condition would be that Romeo and Juliet be alive at the end of the game, the Apothecary's win condition would be that they both die, so on.scumchat never die- Korts

Awesome. Just awesome.Adel wrote:Rock Star Heroin O.D. Purgatory Mafia

All players are Rack Stars that died thanks to the big H in their veins.
Each day takes place in a different terrace of Purgatory.
The informed minority are the angels who send another Rock Star to heaven during each night cycle.
There is no Heroin in heaven, and the Rock Stars don't want to go.

You could mod one of these in the Mish Mash forum, I think. But I don't really know, I don't play there much. If/when Gangs of New York runs, please send me a PM or something. Sounds really awesome.Wall-E wrote:
Wow you actually read them.Korts wrote:Gangs of New York sounds awesome, but it's not a game of mafia as such.
Also awesome is the Timewolf, but that also differs from a game of mafia in many ways.
Yes, the forum I started on had a much looser definition of werewolf ('s what we called mafia) and so themed games like this were the rule rather than the exception.scumchat never die- Korts

Mountainous, but every player has a PR: everyone is given a poetic form in which they must post, i.e. shakespearian sonnet, petrarcan sonnet, villanelle, acrostic, etc.
I'd love to play this.

No, that wasn't like that, if it's the game I'm thinking about. In that game, the mod, Dragon Phoenix, was just like any other mod except neither faction could win until they lynched the mod. I think. I only read the last couple pages of that game, though.forbiddanlight wrote: EDIT: Wait...never mind, I think this has already been done . I doubt it'd be possible to communicate properly when the PR is "each post may and must contain a single "<meaninglessword>", no more, no less. No quoting, no multi-posting." Voting and FoSing are allowed naturally, but I'm not sure they'd be able to communicate their intent adequately through only that channel.Mr. Flay wrote:
Codes and breadcrumbing will kill this pretty quickly. Someone once used a restriction that made them post only in smileys to communicate plenty of information. Never assume you can limit what a player does meaningfully, especially if what they are trying to do is help their faction.Korts wrote:

Even if I restrict the number of <meaninglessword> in a post to one and forbid multiposting or multi-voting, you think the player could get around it?Mr. Flay wrote:
That's also easy to get around (someone's had a votes-only restriction before). They started to use the names of the people they were voting as part of the code. Takes place at a motel in the middle of nowhere. A group of couples have gathered for a week of fun and games (orgies and partner swaps). Days take place in the lobby. Nights take place in rooms that people have drawn keys for.
Rooms with two people may night talk. Most likely ~half the people end up in the orgy room and are too "busy" to talk.

Advertising Mafia
CEO, Creative department, Account Services Department, day-talk within departments via quicktopic, CEO can communicate with all departments.
Creative teams etc.
Maybe even briefs.
EDIT: also, Smalltown sans role rotation (if that's a standard Smalltown mechanic at all), since everyone in an ad agency usually knows who's from which department and what they do.scumchat never die- Korts
