I actually have a really cool idea for an open set-up Chess Mafia.
The Kings are actually playing a chess game with the other 30 players.
The Kings just need to checkmate the other King, while the pieces just need to kill the scum randomly distributed within them.
I like it because the Kings and town are both trying to influence each other to kill/lynch certain players/pieces.
Kings would be unlynchable, unkillabe, of course.
And the Bishops, Knights, Rooks, and Queens could all be power roles.
Thoughts?- iLord

Oh clarification time.
Checkmate does not end the game.
The pieces on the chessboard double as players. To the Kings, they are no more than pieces. To the players, the Chessboard means nothing, other than noting who may be in danger of being captured/killed in the game.
So the thirty-two pieces would all start off in their starting places. Every two days, the kings alternate making moves. Meanwhile, the town focuses on finding scum.
When a piece is captured in the chess game, that respective player with that role dies in the game. When a player is lynched, his respective piece is considered captured in the chess game.
The twist is that the town and king are both trying to influence each other to accomplish their seperate Win Cons.
Sorry for the confusion.- iLord

Chenhsi, for the last time, that set-up was not broken:

Scum winning Night 2 was because of a weak town, and an easily swayed vig.
Generally, both townmasons should have submitted the same target. This actually increased the power of those roles because they had "two lives."
The only control the scum had over the power roles is how skilled they were at convincing the other mason. If they submitted a different action and nullified the power, they should've been under instant suspicion.
Unfortunately, the town played pretty messily (some people didn't even claim their list before being lynched), messing up night actions and the such, and the scum were able to easily win, explaining your skewed opinion of the set-up.- iLord

Not to copy you, but that actually sounds pretty cool.Korts wrote:News Mafia
Famous real and fictional journalists fight an unknown gang of reporters writing under an as yet undisclosed alias who take all the good scoops and stories. Possible roles include Photographer, Editor, Field Reporter.
Some Ideas I've been throwing around.
Stock Market Mafia!
Complete with bidding money on players instead of votes!
Berserk Mafia
You can turn Berserk for greater power - but at what cost?- iLord

Election Mafia?
12 Players are Presidential Nominees with abilities and political parties.
Everyone else (Anybody who is reading along or wants to in the MafiaScum community) gets to vote for President.
President decides lynch and has two roleblocks.
Political parties get a bonus when another member of their party is president.
