I'm also glad I can assert my gender on people. But, I was quite fond of the little icons, any chance those willl be coming back again? I don't know if there was a transgender one on the old boards, but if not it probably wouldn't be hard to create one.

Ah sorry, I should've read the thread properly before I started posting in it.

But while I'm here, I have something to add to the wishlist that I don't think has been suggested yet. Would it be possible to update the vote tag so that it displays as something more unique? Like how the quote and code tags create formatting that wouldn't be possible to replicate otherwise.

The current vote is easily replicable:
VOTE: Player

VOTE: Player

Which also means it could be messed with by fake-voters trying to exploit strict rulesets ("Votes must be made in a particular format or they won't be counted"), as discussed in this MD thread. If there was a voting tag that makes it very easy to see if the vote was valid or not, then mods who want to be strict and players in their games wouldn't have to worry about checking for fake votes. And mods who are more relaxed about voting methods can continue as before.

(or something similar), but not everybody does. It'd be a limited subset of formats, but there's a couple different ones people prefer already out there "in the wild". For now, though, a bbcode was easiest to get up and running, and get people used to the idea.

Also, there IS a difference between the two you posted, it's just not obvious. Hover your cursor over the 'right' one...

Well there's something I hadn't noticed

For me I don't mind what the text phrase is, visual clarity is the key. I appreciate that some players have their pet phrases to make searching easy, but I think your choice of VOTE: is plenty good enough for that. The real problem is that currently, not many players are actually using the tag (my spot check found about 1 in 10), and so some will still occasionally type

VOTE Player

or

VOTE; Player

, and not notice, because that looks practically the same as the official version.

If it put a little box around the vote, or a coloured background, or something like that which made it visually distinct for everyone, then I reckon more players would:
a) notice that there is a tag,
b) want to use it, to make their votes look like "proper ones", which might
c) reduce the grey area over what is considered a vote or not, and maybe even make vote counts easier for mods.

Although this is definitely a non-urgent request, don't get me wrong.

Personally, I'd like a link to the forum main page at the bottom. That's usually where I want to go when I'm done reading a thread, rather than just 'Return to Help'.

Would it be possible to copy something like: 'Board index › Administration › Help!', as well as the other stuff that you mentioned?

Also, YAY on the new vote tag formatting! It's been a while, but I never said that.

Actually.. now I've discovered the "View your posts" link, I am using that a lot more than the main index

I use the unread icon all the time

Uhm, it is down there and has been since Day One, I swear to gods. Bottom left, same line as the "Subscribe Topic" link... you're not the first person to miss it.
