WELCOME TO THE LEGAL SYSTEM FOLKS!
Here, things aren't done the way you usually do them. We don't just hang people anymore. They get a fair trial, and THEN we hang them. Yes, we have a court system in place. With courts come lawyers, and with lawyers come many many cases.

Recently, there has been a crime spree. This crime spree has lead to a large increase in court cases. So many in fact, that judges started limited the cases they would take daily. Here you are in the middle of the court system, and things are about to get chaotic.

Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright have decided to make a game of this. They'll participate in cases, swapping between defense and prosecution every day. The one who wins the most cases wins the bet. Simple really if you don't mind the justice system becoming a farce.

NOTE: THIS IS A 3:9 MOUNTAINOUS SETUP

^ ignore
But the actual way this game'll go is:
The new mechanics are as follows.
*Choose three people you want to see lynched (presumably "three" will go down as the population does)
*The three people who show up the most in peoples' lists are the only people who can be lynched that Day.
*Vote vote vote lynch lynch lynch
*Scum NK
*Repeat
*When in doubt, make stuff up

Rules:

General Rules:

1) Do not troll. This is my damn town, I can kill you.
2) Don't try to outguess me.
3)
Red
and
Dark Blue
are my colors. Touch them and I will scalp you.
4) If you need to contact me about something like a post I should fix, please by all means use
Mod: Please fix my awful posting habits!
or something similar. Sometimes I may just respond with a hard "No"
5) Don't be a dick, I'm the only one allowed to do that.
6) If I make a mistake, point it out, but don't be cocky about it or I will crush you like a vitamin pill.
7) No game-related communication outside the thread.
8) Lynching for the most part is to your benefit. No lynches are not recommended but if you all make it clear that's what you want I'll consider it.
9)Bah! Posts are allowed.
If you exceed one short Bah! then I will remove it

10)Enjoy the game and remember: I make the rules.

Activity/Prods/Replacements:

1) I will prod you twice. After this you get a small grace period while I find a replacement. If you do not return, I remove you with the person I found. Don't whine.
2) You may ask to be replaced in the way I stated to communicate with me above.
3) If you do not post for 3 days I prod you.
4) If you are V/LA please communicate to me in the way stated previously.

Special Game-Specific Rules:

1) Actions MUST be submitted by the end of the last day phase.
2) You must READ all my instructions at the beginning of each phase. THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
3) Deadlines are generally NOT flexible.
4) During specific phases where you are asked not to post, DON’T POST.
5) If I forget something, you can ask and I will update the rules.
6) This game, as mentioned earlier is a 3:9 Mountainous setup with TWO third party roles that do not contribute to balance.
7) After death, you will remain active in jury matters. It is against your best interest to reveal your alignment.
8) No flips for the purpose of supporting the above rule. Deal.

Special Mod Rules:

1) I love baseball, three strikes and you're out. I modkill your ass.
2) I will fry you with great pleasure if you try to screw with me.
3) I am thy lord, smiting is my specialty, if I tell you something is bothering me don't do it.
4) Did I say listen to what I say?
5) If you somehow know how to edit posts. DO NOT DO THIS.
6) If your text is too hard to read, you get a warning (not a strike).
7) Do not debate with me, I will add strikes for that.
8) Loophole usage is not acceptable and will result in one or multiple strikes. You know the general rules, if I forgot something DO NOT take advantage of it or I will slice you up into salad.
9) Posts must be readable and in English.
10) If I want to modkill you for any reason. You DIE. Thats it. I can modkill you if you annoy me so don't.
11) Ruining my game is looked down on. If you're really annoying me with it I'll kill you.
12) You may PM, IM, or Email me with anything relevant or simply to talk if you're honestly that bored.

Have fun!

Town Win Condition:
You win when all threats to the town have been brought to justice.
Mafia Win Condition:
You win when you outnumber the town or nothing can prevent the same.
There is no generic townie PM as each of your has a different character and thus a different PM.

Any questions you have please PM, IM, or Email to me.

The role PM isn't that vague, its flavor mostly. Read above. This is an open setup.
The lack of flips are for the purpose being able to actively participate after death.

Not having this information prior to the game is poor modding. The fact that we KNOW it's a 3-9 mountainous, combined with not even getting info from flips puts this most decidedly in the scum's favor. Scum have been shown to win EVERY SINGLE 10-2 mountainous that's been run on this site except for 1-2. Taking away flip information skews it more in their favor. Also, this whole "participating in the jury" thing is very vague. Clarify please.

Every member of this game participates in the jury. Also, I'll link you to this:
http://mafiascum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14921.

It says no flips.

I think I have an idea of whats going on ish and that -may- make it balanced.

Definitely more balanced than 3:9 would normally be. Also madness.

For the record, I don't know how this can be a bastard-modded game if it's mountainous.

Hrm:

9) The setup will be a 3:9 Mountainous (12 of the 14 players) with two third party roles
that do not factor in to balance
(2 of the 14 players)

Guess I was wrong. Fffftthh

Balanace Schmalance.
Town win 3:9 mountainous = awesome.
And then we have those two random 3rd-party's peoplez.

ilolatmodschniponKai
Wait, I thought this wasn't bastard and just mechanic heavy or something.
Mechanic heavy with mountainous?
Kai, I think it'll be like that liar game game we were in or something.

ruleset is clearly copypasta from all his other games, which are bastard.

Which was a copy from my MPM game which was not.

PHASE CHART WITH CLARIFICATIONS:

Day Start

Discussion Phase - Up to FIVE days.
-Discussion continues until everyone has sent a selection of SIX people they would like to see on the chopping block. ALSO: They must send the name of ONE person they wish to decide to be the casemaker. The casemaker not only decides the order of the cases but also gets to select which of the most voted players will not become a case.

Casemaking Phase
-During this time, the lawyers submit the two cases they wish not to take (cases such as immediate obvscum). This information is relayed to the casemaker who may or may not take this into account while choosing the three cases and the order in which they will be tried. Cases that are denied do not count as a win for either side, but may be used in determining later factors.

Case Phase
Trial 1 (During the trial unless specified in a discussion period, Jury will speak in a given QT)
Opening Statements
-1 Post Opening Statement
Discussion Phase - Up to THREE days
Cross Examination Phase
Closing Statements
-1 Post Closing Statement
Discussion Phase - Up to THREE days
Deliberation
-This phase contains the jury speaking privately in the given QT and voting Innocent or Guilty on a given case. Majority Vote will be a decision.
IF the trial ends in a lynch, END DAY
IF the trial does NOT end in a lynch, continue to Trial 2 and so fourth...

So what you're saying is:

So basically:
*Players complain about six people
*Players send in one casemaker to pick out which arguments are most worthwhile
*Lawyers amplify the case for sykedoc's amusement (and possibly the edification of the other players)
*Jury bickers about whether the complained-about player should be hauled off to jail - if called Guilty, that's what happens; if called Not Guilty, basically nothing happens

That's how I understand it.

Name claims would be good right about game start(due to the no-flip thing).

Should at least give us some idea about who is (dead) lying scum. No role claims though.

Agree/Disagree?
---

What the hell is a mountainous?

Also, do the lawyers have wincons of their own?

VasudeVa wrote:What the hell is a mountainous?

Mountainous - no power roles
This implies that the only thing done during the Action Phase is a scum nightkill.

The lawyers have no clearly defined Win Condition. I think if there is one, it's "whoever wins the most cases". Which IMO means that the case managers decide which lawyer wins based on how they schedule who gets prosecuted and who gets defended.
