Scum is anyone considered a dirtbag with the intent to harm people on a personal level. A serial killer is just crazy or needs attention, whereas a mafia group have a vendetta against the townsfolk as their reason to commit genocide over many day phases.

Actually, calling someone scum makes it seem like they're a raggedy individual. How do we know they don't shower every 6 hours to stay fresh? We should stick to calling mafia a group of gits.
