The problem with Essence Reaver on Jayce is that it is too expensive for when the mana passive is useful (early-mid) and then just underwhelming by the time you get it. Muramana allows you to abuse the crazy AS on Hyper Charge and gives you enough mana to still be relevant in the laning phase. Sure, 700 on mana does put you back in terms of item power early, but the fact that you're ranged with strong poke and disengage (Thundering Blow) makes up for that.

I'd say my endgame Jayce build is probably: Boots (Lucidity/Merc/Tabi), Muramana, BT, LW, IE, and BC/Ghostblade.

I'm pretty sure it still gets the bonus crit damage, the stacking combat text just appears instead of the crit.

That's an issue. One-trick ponies exist for a reason; Comfort on a champion is basically the most important thing.

Yes but the problem with Vi players is she becomes a glass cannon in the late game. Which means you may as well build warmogs after Tri but getting to that point makes it hell for you

Which is exactly why she isn't a laner.
