Vote Counts And Significant Links

Voting, Lynching, and Deadlines
- Votes must be bolded in one of two ways:
Vote: Your Face
or VOTE: Your Mom’s Face. If they are not bolded, they will not be counted, and I will inform you of your error so you can correct it.
- Unvotes are not required.
- Nicknames are allowed when voting so long as I can easily decipher who you are referring to.
- In order for a lynch to occur, a majority of votes must be reached. A majority is one half of the living players plus one.
- No lynches are allowed. The same voting rules apply to voting for a no lynch (i.e. bolded, majority must be reached).
- Once a voting decision is made, and the final majority vote is placed, no amount of unvoting will prevent this action from occurring – even if I am not online at the time of the final vote.
- If a majority is not reached by deadline, there will be a no lynch.
- Deadlines for each game day are three weeks long. Deadline extensions will only be granted under extreme circumstances. Deadline extensions will not exceed five days.
- Once a lynch has been made, the game enters twilight. All players who were alive before the lynch (including the newly lynched player) may continue posting until I am available to lock the thread and post the lynch scene.
- Once you die, you are no longer allowed to post until end-game (excluding the scenario above).
- “Bah” posts are not allowed. Once you’re dead, you’re dead.
- Nights will last three days. They may be cut short at my discretion.
- Night actions may be submitted via QuickTopic (if you have one) or PM. If you do not wish to submit an action, let me know by saying, “no action” or some variation thereof.
- If an action is not submitted by night’s deadline, it will be taken as a no action.
Prods, Replacements, and Modkills
- Prods will be issued via PM.
- Prods will be sent after a player has not posted in-game for approximately seventy-two hours (unless you have notified me that you will be V/LA). This may be shortened if the activity is slow.
- If there is not a response to the prod in approximately forty-eight hours (may be adjusted to match the prod time-limit), I will begin searching for a replacement. If you respond before I find a replacement, you are allowed to continue playing.
- Once a player receives three prods (i.e. once you are due for a forth), I will begin searching for a replacement. Even if you return before I find a replacement, you will not get another chance to continue playing.
- I would appreciate it if you would post in-thread (even if you have it set in your control panel) or PM me when you will be V/LA (Vacation/Limited Access). If I believe your V/LA will last too long, I will replace you.
- If you feel the need to request a replacement, please PM me doing so. If I consider the reasons very selfish, I may deem it fit that you must find a replacement for me.
- If you break any of these rules, I reserve the right to replace or modkill you.
- If you are modkilled for breaking one of these rules, it will be done in a manner that hurts your faction. (i.e. if you’re town, day will end. If you are scum, day will continue). You will also be turned into a neutral survivor, so you are unable to claim a victory or loss.
- If I make an error that could break the game, I reserve the right to replace or modkill you. If it
is
an error on my part, you and your faction will not be punished.
- The Mafia Scum Rules apply in this game, as well as my own. If any of them contradict, please feel free to notify me.
- Under no circumstances are you allowed to contact a player within this game about this game while this game is ongoing, unless your Role PM states otherwise.
- Personal feuds are not allowed, and if they get out of hand, I will force-replace or modkill the offenders.
- Quoting anything from me (including Role PM’s) that is said outside of this game thread is prohibited. Pretending to quote something is prohibited as well. Paraphrasing is allowed.
Bold
all requests to me, so it is less likely for me to miss them. If the topic you wish to discuss is personal or has to do with a serious mod error (one that could break the game), please address me via PM.
- Editing or deleting posts is not allowed. You shouldn’t have this ability to begin with, but if you do, do not use it.
- Do not use ridiculously small, invisible, or encrypted text.
Navy is my color. Don’t use it.
- I will try to provide a vote count on every page.
- As the moderator of this game, I reserve the right to change, add, or remove any of these rules at any time. I also reserve the right to replace or modkill any offenders, with or without a warning.
- Vulgar language is allowed; however, excessive amounts (to the point where you’re trying to be vulgar) are not. I will warn you if you become unnecessarily crude. If you continue, I will modkill or replace you.
- If anyone has a problem with vulgar language, feel free to PM me about it, and I will make any necessary changes to the above rule in order to accommodate your wishes.
- Please don’t go missing without informing me first.
- If you are getting angry with someone, take a break and relax. It’s just a game. Don’t make it personal.
- Be mature. We aren’t in elementary school anymore. Use your big-boy words if you’re in an argument.
Above all else,
HAVE FUN!

I don't know about you. But I like doctors. They can swing these kind of games drastically in towns favor.
Hi, this is Smashbard. I am a designated SE for this game, but really that shouldn't mean anything to you beyond the fact that I've had a few more games on site than you. I will try to answer any questions about Mafia in case Nacho is not available. As I tend to post really late a night you can expect the majority of my activity to be around that time.
I will ask all of you a small series of questions to gauge where we are all coming from. There really isn't a wrong answer to any of these questions. This is just a way to break the ice.
1) What draws you to play the game of Mafia? What are some of your favorite things about the game?
2) Do you tend to take the game very seriously and become aggressive/defensive or do you take a light hearted approach and just go with the flow?
3) How much do you value your gut reads in comparison to another players reads? Do you tend to doubt yourself or tunnel your suspects?
My own answers to these questions.
1) I'm not sure why I keep coming back, but I suppose I enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Piecing together the puzzle. I hate playing as Mafia. I just feel awful lying and deceiving people that you spend upwards to several months playing with. I definitively know why they call it scummy.
2) I definitely take the game way more seriously than I should. It's a flaw. I tend to get defensive or aggressive with my reads. I'm trying to improve on that, because I know it should be a game about fun and not all about winning.
3) I tend to go with my gut on my suspicions a lot more than holding stock in another players opinion, unless they have proven to me that they are exceedingly protown. The only time I tend to go away from my own beliefs is if somebody has cold hard evidence to suggest I should change my suspicions/vote.
I look forward to playing with you all!

1) What draws you to play the game of Mafia? What are some of your favorite things about the game?
I've maybe played once online....years and years ago...or maybe I read through games, I can't remember, but I'll say I love in-person mafia, I think it is so fun to try and read people, differently depending on whether you've played with them or know them really well or not. I enjoy talking things out and working in groups anyway, the group dynamic is fun for me. Online....I am excited to see how reading people/statements is different on here, and continue with the group dynamic.
2) Do you tend to take the game very seriously and become aggressive/defensive or do you take a light-hearted approach and just go with the flow?
Eh....usually I'm not too serious with it. It is a game after all. My competitive streak is there, but I'm going to be more open with my play and work with the people round me. So i would tend to say I'm more light-hearted. Don't quote me on that later though!
3) How much do you value your gut reads in comparison to another players reads? Do you tend to doubt yourself or tunnel your suspects?
This goes to the answers to all my other questions, I'm gonna of course have a gut read on people, but I myself enjoy weighing evidence and hearing other people's opinions. That being said, I don't know anyone else's position, so I've got to take that into mind when listening. My gut feeling (or educated read) is most valuable.
@Smashbard- Thanks for answering your own questions first! You sometimes don't see that. You mentioned you might get more aggressive in your reads.....does this correlate to the amount (or severity) of your gut feeling? Or would you say you're just generally more aggressive?

1#
What drew me towards Mafia is the fact that it's like a detective game. And i'm one of those guys that loves to prove otherw wrong so it would be perfect for me.
Assuming im correct.
I'm also taking Law in college and this could make an excellent training ground for me.
2#
I do take things seriously, but i know when people are just havin g a laugh and will probably take part in them.
3#
I don't get many gut feelings.
My decisions are usually based on facts and evidence. But when i do, its usually because i have a strong reason to believe them. So i would say that I'm not that indecisive but if i ever change my opinion on things, there must have been some very strong evidence to make me change.
Or as this game goes, i could be lying about every single thing..........

I was talking about the Doctors IRL not as a game role, they are mean <.<
Answers:
1.I find Mafia fun. I haven't really played for long, but so far I'm enjoying myself.
2.That's kind of hard to tell from my own viewpoint, it depends on the game actually, but usually light hearted.
3.I value my gut reads more then other players reads unless there is sufficient evidence/good argument backing them. I might even get to fixated sometimes, but I'm trying to learn and improve on it.

1) What draws you to play the game of Mafia? What are some of your favorite things about the game?
~~~I am drawn to the hunt. I like watching the interactions of the players, and looking for the little inconsistencies.
2) Do you tend to take the game very seriously and become aggressive/defensive or do you take a light hearted approach and just go with the flow?
~~~Very lighthearted. I am very aware of how serious I can get, so watch for it always.
3) How much do you value your gut reads in comparison to another players reads? Do you tend to doubt yourself or tunnel your suspects?
~~~I always trust my gut, but will alter my opinion if someone else presents a well reasoned, well thought out case. But I tunnel heavily on my chosen case.
Pretty much, yes it correlates with the severity of my gut reading. The more I see a guy as scum, the harder I jump up and down telling people to lynch the obvious scum (to my eyes anyway). It tends to get worse if I feel like my reasons are being ignored or not considered properly. But I almost never resort to direct insults or attacking people for not voting my way. I just get very aggressive with how much more I hound someone the more they can't answer basic questions about whatever it is I am suspicious about.
This tends to backfire more often than not. As I have admittedly mislynched more often than been right about someone's scumminess. Thus making me look really scummy in the process. Unfortunately I haven't quite found a different way that is more effective at scumhunting. But being this is a newbie game I will try to keep my ego in check as it's more important to teach people the ropes of mafia than brutally beat them into a logical pulp just because I think they are scum.
Why specifically point out the possibility that you could be lying? If you're town aligned, do you feel it's beneficial to lie at any time? Or do you think it's something purely scum would do?
The best lies are the ones that have some truth with them. With that state of mind, the best thing for scum to do is tell the truth.
I know it puts me on the spotlight. But unfortunately for me, i was always thought to look at both sides of the argument and thats the approach i take for many things in life.
If i am town, i have absolutely no reason to lie. If i am scum, i would have to hide my lies.
There is a possibility that i could get lynched by telling the truth because someone else lied.
And assuming i'm town, scum could kill me off early on for simply telling the truth.
I'll say this now, i'm a vanilla town.
Whether i'm lying or not is up to you.
But if something doesn't add up, then SOMEONE did lie.
I'll be perfectly honest, I have no idea what you're driving at here. lol.
Why claim so early? Scum is already going to know your alignment, and town has no reason to trust a blanket vanilla claim that grants you any sort of townness. So you literally gain nothing from revealing it so early.
