This was a town like any other. At least, it was supposed to be. The two mafiosi cursed as they made their way to the abandoned warehouse near the edge of town. They cursed the wet, and then they cursed the cold. Above all, however, they cursed the town's inhabitants. The two of them had been led to believe that this would be a safe place to conduct business. If it had not been for the little bird who had come along to tweet a warning, they would not have known. There it was, the rusted door. The goon nudged it open, and the two of them stepped inside. They needed to plan quickly. Tomorrow, the townspeople would be gathering to lynch members of the mafia.

Activity

1. Prods will be issued to players if they have not posted within a 72-hour period. Players who have been prodded have 48 hours to respond in the game thread before a replacement is sought. For purposes of activity, Saturday and Sunday will be considered a 24-hour period.
2. Players who have been prodded 3 times are subject to replacement without further notice.
3. Players may request that a reminder be sent to a player who has not posted within 48 hours.
4. If you anticipate being away for at least 48 hours, please PM me or post a V/LA notice in the thread with the expected date of your return.

Days and Nights

1. Days will have a deadline of three weeks, and Nights will last 72 hours. Deadline extensions will be granted only in extreme circumstances.
2. Lynches occur through simple majority (50% of living players + 1, rounded down). If no majority is reached at deadline or there is a majority of votes for No Lynch, Day will end without a lynch. Once majority is reached, no further votes or unvotes will count.
3. Votes and vote revocations must be bolded (e.g.,
   Vote: Equinox
   and
   Unvote
   ). Unvotes are preferred but not necessary when switching votes (e.g.,
   Unvote, Vote: No Lynch
   ). Use of the vote tags (e.g., VOTE: Equinox) is optional.
4. All players, including the lynched player, are allowed to talk in twilight phase until the thread is locked, at which point Day ends. Dead players may not post until the game has been officially declared over.
5. Actions not received by deadline will be considered forfeit. Actions may be submitted ahead of time and can be changed as many times as desired; at deadline, the last valid action that was submitted will be used. Actions may be submitted via PM or QuickTopic.

Any situation not covered above will be handled on a case-by-case basis. I reserve the right to add, modify, or remove rules as necessary. I will notify you of any changes in the thread.

Quickly, the mob led theslimer3 toward the tree where they would be judging theslimer3, and they bound theslimer3's hands and feet. theslimer3 looked up at the branch where the townspeople had hung a rope, knotted in the form of a hangman's noose. This was it, then. Someone placed a burlap sack over theslimer3's head, and together the mob hoisted theslimer3 up. Once theslimer3's head was in the loop, they let go, and theslimer3 swung. The crowd went silent, holding its collective breath, as theslimer3 struggled in the air. In theslimer3's struggles, a small object dropped to the ground. In the sunlight, the object shone, a little too brilliantly.

Thus, when the search team recovered a bloody stethoscope that once belonged to Voodoo Lady, nobody was surprised.

Words couldn't describe the level of anger Mutleyddmc felt at these people. Who did they think they were to judge him this way? Everything he had done, he had done for their own good; they were too blind to see it yesterday and today. He didn't know if he could stand this much longer. By now, he was in front of the crowd, his back to the hanging tree, and he saw the eyes, all those eyes, glaring at him, declaring him guilty. He would show them. He would show them all. The people in the mob who were pointing at him couldn't catch him quickly enough. In one leap, he was up on the stepladder, and then he hanged himself underneath the tree.

It was so quiet on the streets tonight that MP5 could have sworn that the place was a ghost town. Well, it could be if things did not change in the near future. The silence made sneaking around on cobbled streets more difficult than he would have liked, but the chance of being spotted at all was slim enough that MP5 had felt comfortable taking the chance of being out at night. The layout of the town's roads were practically a maze, and even the locals got themselves lost on occasion; he would be fine, and he was not being followed anyway. He made his way down the alley behind the medical clinic and past a run-down warehouse... and the upper floor exploded.

MP5 took to the ground, shielding himself from the falling glass and debris. There was another loud boom, followed by loud rattling. His back and his sides felt like they were on fire, and the sharp, rattling rain kept going. It was only when MP5 had finally keeled over unmoving that the stranger stopped shooting. The irony of this fellow dying by an assault rifle would have been worth considering, except there was barely any time for the mafia partners to move out of the way before another explosion came, this time from the ground floor. With any luck, the fire would consume MP5, too, but that was up to fate.

The situation was not looking good for NicCage, but never had he felt so much thrill as he did running from the lynch mob. He wove through the streets. Twisted and snaky as they were, it would not take long for them to lose him, and he was counting on it. The sky was beginning to darken now; they had taken so long to decide that the sun was nearly gone when they finally pronounced NicCage's sentence. He ran past the rubble that was once the abandoned warehouse where he usually met with his partner. At the next junction, he made a left. The noise behind him seemed to subside a bit, but he decided to be careful and take the next turn. The last thing he needed was to be boxed in while running through a maze.

After what felt like an eternity of running, NicCage no longer heard the sounds of his pursuers, and he decided to slow down and catch his breath. He continued down the alley, taking in the scenery. Ahead, he could see the clinic, the door and windows barred. He remembered this area being a popular one during the day; it seemed so shabby now in semi-darkness. That was when he noticed the mountain of rubble to his right, and NicCage swore. The doors to the surrounding buildings swung open, and the mob was upon him, pitchforks and all. There were no heroics that day, only that the rage of one mafioso was finally caged.

After the excitement of the afternoon and the long walk back home, Didi wanted only to sleep. He set his glasses down on the coffee table and made his way to the warm and comfortable bed waiting for him. Whatever he needed to do could wait until tomorrow. He let himself drift away into sleep, and the sleep turned into strange dreams where he was drilling up to the sky one moment and tossing explosives into an abandoned building the next. The boom shook him awake, and he could have sworn that he never set foot near that warehouse, let alone caused its demise.

It took a moment to gather his wits about him again. The boom had been quite loud, but no matter. Didi checked the clock and saw that it was two in the morning. As long as he was up, he might as well change and clean up a little bit. He flicked the lights on, and he saw a shadow flit across the doorway. He grabbed the bat from underneath his bed, ran to the door, and swung the bat down with full force on whatever was lurking in the corner. The bat hit wall, and, before Didi turn around and swing again, the intruder shot twice. Didi collapsed to the floor. As the footsteps faded away, Didi looked at the sign he kept above his bed, and he read it to himself:

"Don't believe in the you who believes in me. Don't believe in the me who believes in you. Believe in the you who believes in yourself."

Tired of the shouting match between frog and Mac, Xiao Long left the square and headed for the residential district. These past four days had been hard on him, and he was ready for all of it to be over. Still, he had a responsibility to make this right, and he had only one chance. He mulled over the options in his mind. The sky was darkening now, and he could hear the rustling of the trees lining the path as though they were the voices of the dead telling him to make his move. No, he told himself. He couldn't rush this. Besides, the relative calm here allowed him to think. It all came down to what NicCage had been trying to do in accusing Mac yesterday...

The sun had set by the time Xiao Long reached his house. On the porch were frog and Mac, and they turned toward Xiao Long as he approached. This was it, yet he still hadn't decided. Now, though, there was no time. Xiao Long took out a coin. Heads, frog. Tails, Mac. Before the two of them could protest, Xiao Long tossed the coin into the air. When the coin finally hit a patch of grass some distance away, the three of them darted over to see. Xiao Long reached it first. He heaved a sigh and lifted the coin. Heads. There was a scream and a thud, and Xiao Long turned to see Mac tackling frog to the ground. No turning back.

What sort of victory celebration could be had with only two people? There was no point to it with everyone else having died or fled. Mac and Xiao Long headed back toward the square. The roads were deserted, the buildings empty. In time, perhaps, the townspeople would return and the city would come back to life, but neither were sure how long that would be or if they would wait at all. The least they could do was spread the news that the scourge of the mafia was gone and hope for the best, whether or not they stuck around to see it. Besides, there were probably other towns that needed a couple of wandering scum hunters.

First off, thank you to everyone for playing this game, and special thanks to all the replacements.

Not much to add here, really, since much of it has been covered in the graveyard QuickTopic. Day 4 need not have lasted as long as it did; LyLo will always feel like there's more time for discussion and more things to examine, but, in this case, Xiao Long just gave himself unnecessary stress for three weeks. To be fair, though, I had hindsight. The ghosts did, as well, so don't take their criticism to heart

too

much. Props to frog for trying as hard as he did to spin the game to his favor. Many would have viewed that situation as a hopeless one.

I owe theslimer3 an evaluation. theslimer3, if I don't give it to you by tomorrow, then please PM me and make sure I do it. At a glance, though, I think you did fine, but your activity was a little lacking from what I remember; you were pretty busy at the time, anyway.
