Insults just breed more insults and froofroos, which then make it harder to look at things from a logical perspective and make cases.

For finding scum:

1. Ask questions including follow up questions. Make sure peeps clarify any vague points.

2. Follow up on inconsistencies, granted townies make them too, but pushing on them can lead to finding scum,

3. Have fun and keep it as a game, do not resort to insults and personal attacks. Instead look for patterns of behavior, check out completed games form meta and so on.

4. Rule peeps out as town reads to help narrow down your scum pile. But do not give anyone a total free pass recognize some players are better at fooling peeps into thinking they are town when they are scum, definitely consider the level of experience and previous games with said player in figuring things out.

5. Look at the big picture, even if you are tunneling on one player to figure them out do not get so tied to tunneling on them, you miss important stuff about other players.

6. Have at least a bit of suspicion about everyone, question everyone and weigh out everything.

us was in general to the player list I have no clue who is scum or town at this point in the game it just started? And like I said half the players have not yet posted.

@ Varsoon is that all you have to say? What makes peeps losers for participating in RVS? Also why the comment about being not being a hydra? As far as I know we have only two of them (mod limit I believe), it is up to the individual mod how many hydras if any they will accept.

The fact that Icebox (even if one of the heads messed up and posted under his main, made a point to let peeps know I was at L-1 also seems towny.

Majiffy's vote of all seems the most scummy, but I have played a lot of games with him so willing to see what he has to say.

Meanwhile as I said peeps have not yet posted and its what page 2? no way is town ready for the day to end yet.

Because it is RVS is one of the reasons (along with knowing Majiffy pretty well from playing many games with him plus having him in a game I modded), is why I have not pushed much on it.

It was the way you had looked at the entire list of peeps that have posted so and are trying to put them into the town and scum piles already, kinda reminds me though you did it a lot quicker than I did, usually takes me quite a while to figure out my reads when I am town.

yeah for now I kinda see him as leaning town the level of emotion about having just one vote on him though seems a bit off, I need to read some of his games though to see if that is a playstyle thing or not.

That part was admiration if he is town, I never can come up with reads that fact, which I guess is part of the reason I come off looking scummy to peeps.

the last sentence was to selikes about her question on Bo It is not just the fact you are grouping them, it is the level of transparency in your post Scum generally post reads based on what everyone else thinks is a good lynch or to bus a partner or buddy a partner or WK someone they know for sure is Town but likely to be lynched, stuffs like that. That post did not feel like any of that, instead it felt genuine and based on what you feel at this time. I grant that most of the reads may change over time due to future posting that further clarifies, and that they are mostly gut at this point, since not much content yet, but still it feels like a town post of reads not a scum post of reads.

well that was a strange response to recognizing your level of experience

Lemme explain here it is nothing against you, easy lynches are something scum look for and jump on to say see how towniy I am, especially if there is already suspicion on that player. I am often an easy lynch in games too so it is nothing personal. Basically you kinda pushed my IC button... I am an IC in the Newbie games, plus just starting to mod my first one.

So say player A is new and makes posts...

3 players go oh yeah scum slips and vote....

then someone else jumps in and votes (especially if it puts the player at l-1 or hammers them). Or just keeps harping on them being scum without ever setting down a vote. That tends to be a good scum tell.

Seriously though ya know I do flip through tabs and just cause I dont respond for a short bit of time does not mean I am ignoring anyone.

Orc is right, I tend to go for a more logical game and not big on throwing tantrums... Maybe partly my personality, partly my age. When you get in your mid 40s, you don't let as much get to you as you do when you are younger I guess.

As far as Jen goes, I have no COMPLETED games with her... That is about I I can say, however should be able to get a feel for her and will meta her.

Did you enjoy your reading of my games I linked for you? I had to really search I don't get scum roles much, frriggen Doc seems to be my most common role I get (not a claim in this game BTW, talking in general from my first game N 1206 on). I have been Doc in as many as 3 games at once plus nurse (later doc) in Medical Mafia.

PEDIT more posing hard to get a word in edgewise around here...
You really need to curb that impatience a tad there Sven, give a girl a chance to warm up a bit...

At this point I need to go look at ISOs and figure out whats what.

Giving Varsoon a bit of leeway (not a free pass though) cause he is new, and looking seriously at those who are pushing that he is scum to see if they have solid reasoning or not.....

Jiffy is feeling much like his usual townie play but need a bit more from him..... He is a slippery one for sure.

I have only 3 completed games with Orc , but I gather he hated how he played in those games, first game with F but it is very clear that you and she are friends, trying to sort out if it is just that or if there is buddying going on hiding under the obvious friends (eehhh maybe a touch paranoid there?)

I know it is not much, but will produce more as I get a better handle on peeps....

Icebox is also a bit of a hydra with two very different heads. Rem seems to be the goofy joking one and GiF seems to be more of a logical player, which is good for me since it is easier for me to read those kind of players.

Need to stalk Bo too a bit I have seen him around the site a fair bit and he was in one of the Newbie games I read when I first joined to learn more about the game. I spent like 2 weeks researching the Wiki and reading up on games before I inned the Newbie queue for my first game. (most of which got lost in the crash). I saw Bo play then replace out but cant remember the game name and I think it got lost anyways.

Saw Jiffy for the first time in those games too....

This is why it does not help having quite so many posts... Someone said give Jiffy more time I thought it was Icebox... I try to post and there are like 5 or 6 pots so I end up Pedidting... Then more posts... finally I get to the point where I dont know if I am coming or going.... I dont want to have to replace out but I may have to if it keeps up at this rate... Majiffy is right about the gif tells there Varsoon. I have seen several players who post lots of pics while playing and it had nothing to do with their alignment.

I would like to see more posting from the other players.

Those of you who are hyper posters keep in mind that some peeps have lives outside of this forum. For example, I work from home and am often on other tabs in my browser.

As for the game that Majiffy is talking about, Orc was town in that game along with the other two where I played with him that are completed, and yeah hyperaggressive dog with bone tunneling is very much his style.

Pedit yeah Majiffy was SK, and only one who could kill in that game, Jacob was the Cult Leader and we ended up lynching Four Trouble as the cop cause we thought he had been recruited plus the fact that he kept saying he got town scum results on his investigations which did not fit with the game mechanics. (There was no scum just an Sk and a Cult Leader).

Well I am a big picture person and if you have been stalking my games like it looks like you have, you will note a few things:

1. Peeps read me as scummy when I am Town.

2. It does take me a while to get in the swing of things, one of the reasons I like to replace in is it gives me something to work with to start with, instead of starting from scratch, also one of the reasons I look so much at meta. Especially if I never have played with the players before. (of course in this game I have not hat much chance to do that since I have been too bosy reading and posting, dont worry though I will go stalk peeps games when I get a chance.)

3. I do periodically have aha moments and I am a highly intuitive person, but I try hard to use logic which takes longer. I also look for patterns like the one I just mentioned about DO taking Bos word for it but not stating his read on Bo? I tend to look at everyone suspiciously especially at first when trying to peg them in a game and I have a town role. It is a holdover from being too trusting in N 1206 when Meta totally went way beyond WKing me to making me unlynchable. He was scum... and I was the Doc. Town lost the game because of me and I learned to distrust peeps who seem to trust someone right off the bat hence the scumdar ping about DO.

I stand by my read on Majiffy, I hope you know my vote on him was a joke vote I did try to make that clear.

I am not sure why you and Selkies are b eing so hard on his case so early.

My problem with you two is

A you and fery are buddying so very hard and she is one half of the Selkies hydra.
B. Though he has since apologized and is looking eslewhere, Orc was so hot on your case for a bit there and he is the other half of the hydra. That level of dissonance was doing my head in. The paranoid suspicious part of me was thinking it was a ploy tween the two of you -- err 3 of you to do both buddying and distances at the same time and make it look like it was enither even thought it was so blantant.

The logicvl part of me says no that makes no sense. That you 3 have been so blantant there is no way you and Selkies are scum buds. I have been pushing a bit on Majiffy and a couple of the other players partly to see the interacvtions tween them and you. So I can resolve the balance tween my logical side and that streak of paranoia. One of you may still be scum, but not both of you. It just does not fit that you guys would be that out there with the buddying. So for now you two are going in my leaning town pile. And I am looking at others which of course is why I am trying to get more from DO and would like to see more from Jen too. I am feeling very much like some of the jigsaw pieces are missing.

So yaeah thougu these are still somewhat tenative reads

I have you Selkes Majiffify and Bo kinda in that pile. Majiffy is the strongest of the bunch, then Bo then you two.

After that we have Varsoon and I am trying to sort out if he is newbtown or newbscum.

DO and Jen are the two I am looking at most mainly DO though at this time hence that is where my vote is. I feel like I am missing some of the other players too. Not sure who I am forgetting though will have to do some ISos. I find that helps me a lot with pegging peeps.

But yes I still stand by what I said about Jiffy.

After staying up ALL night so I could make my very early ENT appointment, having yogurt after, and then riding the bus home, I took a few hours nap. In that time ya all posted again.

Let me clarify...

When I said posting more, I meant in relation to everyone else. I feel like there is so much noise and a total imbalance in this game due to some peeps being so hyperactive at posting.

@ Jen yeah that whole taking several times to get a post through has happened to me too a number of times.
Pbpa analysis?? ok why? I find that usually is scummy. Easy to make yourself look like you are trying to post content without actually posting content. It is one of the things I look for from LS when he is in a game with me cause that is how I usually nail him as scum.

I did however manage to stalk one game of Sven's so far.

I notice that the hyper aggressive hyper posting style is also in that game as well... Am I a stand in for MM in this game for you Sven? I will get ya all the link.

At least I am not a PR this time

At this point I have Majiffy as a town read... as pointed out so eloquently in that quote of mine by Sven that is pretty much my SOP with Majiffy and Thor, Nacho too unless I see something really odd right off the bat. Even if you dont like the fact he suspects you, keep him around abit, if he is still around and it is getting closer to LYLO then lynch him because at that point he is much more likely to be scum. Jmo was really fussing up a storm about it in the Dead thread with me and even got rather vulgar about it..... There are reasons for the flowchart...

Orc/fery is a hard one for me to make reads on because they are so different from each other but kinda leaning town on them.

Bo I still have as leaning town, but need more info from him.

yep DO is famous for slipping in and out but mostly lurking when he is scum. He is a lot better at it than Siv though so often gets away with it. (Yes I know Siv is not in this game, it is just a comparison).

I am still a bit suspicious of you Sven, need to look at more games cause the one I did look at you were scum along with some other dude and you two won the game. From what I read, your playstyle there was very much like here, so yeah not sold yet that you are town.

Icebox too seems a bit harder to get a handle on cause the two heads are very different... but I am leaning town so far on them....

Jen is a blip on the radar atm she has not posted much. That could be a sign of active lurking and she may be scum. She goes into leaning scum at this point partly because it seems like she is pushing my lynch to be "popular" so to speak, than for any genuine reasons. Pluis a bit of PoE...

Then there is Varsoon...need to see why fery is so sold on him not getting any leeway for being new.

I know it sounds odd because Majiffy is hot to trot on Selkies and Sven as scum reads, but just cause I treat him as town at first does not mean I always agree with him on his reads, especially at first.

To answer your question, I am not sure actually. Ya all seem so convinced I am scum. I am half tempted to replace out because I am having serious trouble keeping up with all the posting in here, but I would hate to do that to Bork or to the poor dude or dudette who ended up replacing me. Town still can win with my mislynch.

This ear infection did not help. Without going into too much detail cause of ongoing games, this is not the only game I am in where there is hyper posting and I am feeling overwhelmed. so yeah if ya all end up lynching me its not a a big loss at this point.

It does kinda bother me that you are setting yourself up as kinda town leader here theough Sven, because you did that in the other game too while your scum bud lurked a lot and kinda laid low. And you two ended up winning the game. I am feeling a bit like I am the replacement in this game for MM in that game.... That is a good party why I am not quite sold on you being town.

A PGO kills anyone who targets them, it is not always a town role though can be scum or even a 3rd party role.

There may or may not be a doc in this game setup not sure on that...

Unless there is some kind of modifier, thats all a PGO is they do not have some active role just kill whomever targets them. So claiming is really not a big deal. The main thing is whether or not they are fake claiming... atm I am leaning to not so ...

My point was obviously not clear...

I hate that I screwed up in that game not because of being scum in it, but because I did not do intent to hammer something I believe in and do no matter what my alignment. I would have been just as upset with myself if I had done it and I had been Town in that game. So yeah me stating intent to hammer is a null tell...

Meanwhile I am up all night so we can find out if I have to go to Oakdale in the morning or if that appointment got rescheduled...

totally makes sense too

strongman to overcome doc protection, but only one shot so it does not completely nullify the doc, and of course it would have overcome the one shot bp if had targeted on the same night while using the one shot strong man.

@ Selikes with Jiffy best way to deal with him is kinda like with Thor, figure he is town at first, use his abilities for scum hunting, and if he is still around by day 3 or 4 and definitely by LYLO then lynch him he is scum

BTW A big apology to DGB.. I had no clue what her role in any game was, other than Author Mafia which was finished quite some time ago, I was impressed with how well she did in that game as scum, and I really did think DO was scum who replaced out, because of something that had to do with DO and another game one that DGB was not in. So I was afraid that she was going to pull the wool over our eyes with excellent play. So was asking to watch pattern of behavior. Not stating anything about roles in other games. It really was more about DO. And I turned out to be wrong about the slot. So I guess that is not a good tell for DO after all...

you were considered the most polite next to me fery... most of the yelling etc was Orc but that is his style... I was able to tel you two apart and was surprised others had trouble with it. but this game was super mega active posting in hyperdrive

I came pretty close a couple times to wanting to replace out of this game, but glad I stuck it out. As usual it took me a while to peg things, but was definitely feeling good about Jiffy scum, but I just had a feeling that Jen was the mafia PR... I was right...

I did not know though that she was only a one shot.... Definitely should have saved that one for later...
