I keep looking at this over and over again as the pages go by. I was doubtful at first, but I've got a gutwrenching feeling about it ever since. Yeah, it is more my gut than anything concrete but that's usually the best I get day 1 without anything slapping me in the face.

@Sven: AA's point to Vifam is valid, and the "harsh" tone of it doesn't strike me as odd. The mod expressly says that posting outside of the Hydra is forbidden and action will be taken at repeat offenses. You might not have remembered the ruling right away, but AA's obviously would being a hydra themselves. Modkill's and the like are never a good thing, so AA'a actions come across as weak town in that regard, but I'd do the same thing even if I was scum in the interest of fair play and fun, so it is kinda null too depending on the person. More town than null though.

What I think is odd about the post is hard to articulate, but asking "Why do you post on that accoun?", or whatever it was, implies to me that the person "knows" he is on the wrong account, and the question becomes about the reasoning for it. I dont think thats the intended interpretation of it but it is just wierdly stated, it feels fake and made up to softly push heat in someones direction.

Oh god yes. I fully expect people to scrutinize me too if this happens. I also never said I'd be going for Arc, only that I'd certainly be looking over their posts again with e fine tooth comb. Only obvious thing to do, and I'm fully prepared for that repercussion of me following the same path as them. I'm just saying that I'd be suspicious of Arc. If I were you and this happens, I'd assume the whole town would be coming for either my head or theirs and you have every right to your suspicions. I say I didn't like the speed of the wagon initially, but after the initial heat and bandwagoning has passed I'm a lot more okay with it at the moment. My vote on Nero is because of this:
His vote on Skull without any reason given was what really gave me my first scum vibe on him. And his eventual reason for this would be that he was "f***ing around". Which doesn't feel right. Nero would then show concern at putting me at L-5, yet he didn't bat an eyelid at putting Skull at L-3.
His peculiar knowledge of Zachattack when they've never played together before was also worrying, as well as his remark when questioned on his first post that it was "all a joke", yet he would provide reasons about his Zach stance. Why do this when it was all apparently a joke anyway?
He also doesn't seem to be paying much attention to the thread.

I played 3 or 4 games of Mafia in the past, but not on Mafiascum and they were a few years ago (2010?). I stopped posting on any forums at all for a few years. Missed playing Mafia the most so when I found out about here I was eager to start again.

Back on topic: I'd be willing to throw down a vote on either of those three candidates. Really, as long as it's someone I feel is vaguely scummy I'm comfortable lynching them day 1. It's really hard to do much else day 1 without the information from a flip.

Your style seems really "buddying" to me, but I have nothing to compare it to so I will actually give you the the benefit of the doubt for now.

Regarding who I feel good about lynching, I have 2 people I dont want to lynch, thats AA9 and now you. I feel much better approaching this game "backwards". So I am currently "more or less fine" with 18 lynchess. Offcourse that doesnt really speak the whole truth, for example I give people diffrent amount of attention because I cant focus on everyone and I tend to value quality over quantity when it comes to reads. So you will see me bounce arround and zeroing in on people.

I also favor getting rid of low volume poster over high vollume posters. There are a few reasons but mainly its my belief that its harder to be scum with increased volume, so in my mind a person who is active actually gives me a chance to solve the game, as in that I can make a read on him, while someone lurking is playing a very easy game as scum, and making my life hard.

I'm not going to deny any possibilities, even if they're currently detrimental to my life expectancy. Just don't always expect me to be the one to point out the points that may get me killed myself

Otherwise, I'm certainly not going to ever claim my flavour role or if I have a power role or not unless I feel it's time. That always seems to be detrimental to town unless you've figured out someone who is scum, especially early game. How to spot my roles is a question I can't answer because I don't even know myself. I've actually only ever been a townie in my games. I'm looking forward to a game where I get to let my evil side out someday, but this game is not that game

All I can really do to help you is to say look at my posts and the reasons for my actions. Do they come across as town or scum motivated?
Also it's helpful to take a look at the people on my wagon and the reasons they have given (if any). Do any votes seem they like they are maliciously motivated?

You dont get what I am asking. If someone asked me the same question I would answer that as town I am probably more reserved, I have fewer reads, I ask more questions. These are all symptoms of me being unable to approach the game in the same way regardless of alingment. Its a very hard question to asnswer, I know that.

Well, consider the possibility that you two are approaching stuff from diffrent angles, or making diffrent assessments on the the subject.

I agree completely about bouncing arround and approaching null reads, but I think that mixing in people that you can bounce ideas with does alot of good. It helps against tunnel vision, as in you might see something one way but someone you trust sees it another way. It also forms cohisiveness and bonding and a good overall work atmosphere.

Regarding Nero, I am at the point where I feel comfortable calling him town. I dont remember how many that makes but he is like one out of five so far. But that makes like you, AA9, Nero, Krabs, ... I am forgetting people.

Well, I don't have much of a meta to speak of. This is only my second game on Mafiascum, and I would not recommend looking up my first game since my play was pretty horrendous there (just ask Nacho).

I've played a few games before coming to this site, though. I've only been Scum twice before, and in both games, I was really paranoid and defensive the entire time because I was so afraid of being caught. If you see me being unreasonably defensive about anything, call me out on it. Aside from that, just see if you notice me acting like I know more than I'm saying. I try to be as transparent as possible because I have a terrible poker face, so if it looks like I know something but I'm keeping it to myself, call me out on that too.

Yeah, so he apparantly doesnt take the early stages seriously. In a nutshell I´d say a null tell, but the way he does this echoes concern to me. And that concern is towny. He tries to be a kind of medietor, explaining why people could be overreacting "its early, random votes and shenanigans" and then asking them to stop it in a towny way. He could have said "stop it", or he could have taken sides between the parties involved, but he dont.

This is all a bunch of bullcrap.

He was just asking about a possible breadcrumb, because scum will use that later if they can and want to. Removing that possibility druing their play makes their claim less believable. I actually think that that is pro-town.

I belive this to, usually scum will do one of two things when having an unpopular opinion, either they cave and change it, or they go balls to the wall, screaming that they are right. This post could offcourse be read as the prior case, as in "I still think I like my vote", I can see a case made for that statement leaving an escape from the vote. But what strikes me first is genuine concern and doubt in his vote, but he is still voting, probably because this is his top suspect, but the faith he has is that of a towny, he simply isnt sure.

Dont like this. I mean I can buy that he missclicked and iso´d raven by mistake, why ? Because its too stupid off an reason to come up with as an excuse to move ones vote. Can you elaborate a bit on why you think Krab is a bad lynch choice for today? You do say on page 13 that you're adding Krab to your Town pile, but you don't really go into detail about it and everything after that is just "Don't lynch Krab; I've got a Town read on him." I'm also not convinced that Post 637 is a good reason to avoid lynching someone. As others have pointed out, emotional outbursts can come from either alignment. The fact that he also hasn't posted since then makes me think that perhaps he's angry about being caught, so he took his ball and went home.

I do still have you as a Town read, Sven, so I'd like to know where you're coming from in regards to Krab.

I´ll have to check, I did add Krabs to the town pile but that was awhile ago and there is alot of doubt on him. I think my read on him right now is close to null, my strong objections are because I feel that there are better lynches. Like GCBC, AA or Malcolm.

So if it clears stuff up for you read my objection as me having stronger scum suspects. I dont have Krabs in a top 5 town position right now.

raven, to get your questions answered people has to feel like they have to... even townies. Most are just polite and answers anyway but with some there has to be an incentive. The best incetive is that when your voice carries weight and you are a consencous townie.

So, some tips, be as open as you can and speak your mind, if you are town thats how others will get the same idea.
When formulating questions in which you have suspicion you should make that known, say that you didnt like a post with reasoning and you decide to ask "why did you think that". Instead, first explain that you find it scummy, explain why, and then ask the questions in sucha a way as for you to get insight into his decisions.

Serious vote. I have a hard time beliving that this is the great nachomammas town game, it just isnt. Its identical to the amnesiac game where nacho and me was scum. He posts short message, replying to everyone, never sticks neck out with a read, never probes other players.

I have read some of nachos town games,... some (like street racer) are just so different that its comical. In that game he posts lists, exlpains thoughts in long ass posts, interogates suspects and just roams arround being a badass. Then there are games where he seems detached, but he still has that stinger when interacting with others.

Keeping my vote where it is for now. If Krab Bucket really is a PR like he soft-claimed in 624, I want to say that he'd have fought a little harder to diffuse the wagon on him.
