A random vote is one that is made randomly, without reasoning or justification.

hp [leaves] placed his vote and gave a reason. Therefore, it isn't a random vote. Whether or not you like his reasoning doesn't matter. Whether or not he's already changed his vote doesn't matter. You're misrepresenting his actions (see the italicized quoted part) in order to justify your confusion, or misunderstanding, or whatever (see the underlined quoted part). The point is that you're trying to call his actions into question, but you're pushing too hard on it. This seems forced to me.

hapahauli wrote:While this is my first game on this particular site (and I'm not as familiar with RVS as most), your statement above can't be right. In the "RVS" stage here, people frequently give random/bullshit reasons to vote people all the time (see ac1983fan's vote for someone being "french" or whatever). Those votes are clearly considered "random."

The problem with HP's vote is that it is critical of random voting while being effectively a random vote. And it's early Day 1, so that's as good as a reason to prod someone for more information as any.
If you construe hp [leaves] vote as random there is nothing I can do to change your opinion, as we have different interpretations of the term "random vote." To me, his vote was not meant as a joke.

To rephrase it a bit differently, I find the fact that you "find <<what hp [leaves] did>> scummy, or at the very least something worth pursuing" is pushing to force an issue that's simply not worth it.

...did you just vote me for trying too hard?
I never said you were trying too hard. To clarify, I am voting for you because I don't like the way you are going after hp [leaves]. I feel as though there is nothing there to warrant going after, and your pushing on it and questioning is unsettling.

Either-or fallacy. My vote stands.

Can anyone briefly explain what "headclaim" means and why or why not it may be ethical to ask of someone to do? This is my first game on mafiascum, and I have never heard the term anywhere else.
hapahauli wrote:Sometimes that involves forcing things. Usually everything on Day 1 is forced to some extent, until it reaches the point where you can leverage *actual* suspicion on someone.
I am all for prying information from someone, but only necessarily if they do something genuinely suspicious or questionable. It seems as though you are admitting to "forcing things", albeit for the sake of generating information... so, along with the fact that you are generally being proactive in regards to activity, I will

for now.

Can I be the one to officially say it??
We are out of the RVS stage of the game, and we have been for a while.
Chalking up statements and votes to "jokes" and "antics" just keeps dragging on the notion that we are not playing seriously yet, and it provides an outlet to fall back on for bad play.
Cheery Pie wrote:Just this mean I actually have logic with my vote on NicCage?

Well is it after his sheeping of GCBC and other lack of contest so far.
If you are talking about your first post of the game, 1) I detected sarcasm, so I believe that it was a "true" RVS-vote 2) If it wasn't sarcasm, then it certainly held no logic. Regardless, I am comfortable moving my vote there as well.

There has been a lot of development since I last checked, and while I would like to give my two cents on some things, I have an exam at 9 AM tomorrow (and to whom it may concern, I have an exam every day this week as well).

So, I will condense my post to several things that stuck out at me while reading/skimming the last few pages.

@NicCage, I am voting for you because I think you're scum. You're initial reasoning for sheeping GCBC is poor. Jake from Rainbowdash responded to your "safe vote" argument precisely how I would have.

I think the interactions between hapahauli and CheeryDog discussing the lurkers/1-posters are equivalent in helpfulness to a couple arguing about curtain color.

hapahauli's wall argument against Toomai seems to carry some weight, however I will need to re-read and analyze it completely another time.

I find Varsoon's posts to reek of wishy-washiness, fence-sitting, and noncommittal attitude.
Strong FoS: Varsoon
. If I wasn't voting NicCage, I would vote Varsoon.

Note for reference: Varsoon's post listing all his reads and who he would like to flip is particularly scummy. Scum often like to group two names together when giving FoS'es, one a townie and one scum. This is a safety blanket. If Varsoon is scum, and because I personally believe NicCage is scum, GCBC is probably a townie (who I had a slight-town read on anyways). Likewise, because I personally have a town-read on hapahauli, Toomai might be scum (not sure on this one, yet). I don't understand why Varsoon would list out his lynch-pool and not place a vote in the same post, only to weakly continue on and place a parrot vote on Toomai anyway.

Posting because I got prodded, even though just skimming the most recent posts hasn't really changed my opinion on anything. More scummy posts from Varsoon, namely #213 where he says the NicCage isn't a good wagon even though he had just included him in his lynchpool a few posts earlier.

I have a final tomorrow and I'm studying all night and through the morning. After getting drunk tomorrow and waiting for my hangover to go away the next morning, I'll have plenty of time to return to the game properly.

Whenever I get prodded I come and skim the most recent posts that I've missed. It's usually 2-3 pages. The only new thoughts I have are that Varsoon is incredibly annoying and anti-town, and I can see why someone would want to vote him.

I'm about to hit the gym, I promise a more substantial post tonight when I get back.
