Magua mentioned after the last game and IIRC in the dead QT that he was going to make sure this did not happen in the next installment. The signups thread also talks about making transferring less efficient. I combed the Rules with a comb and noticed something in the Mafia role PM – take a look at where it says “Wire Fraud” under the section called “Dirty Tricks”. The mafia have an ability where they must choose a transferor and a transferee. I’m guessing that this is the mechanic Magua was referring to and that this probably means the mafia have some way of fucking with publicly announced transfers of money. I’m still trying to figure out some way around this as I think this game has similar potential to be broken. One of the ideas I’ve been kicking around is to have a publicly announced town bloc but without announcing any transferors (in other words, the mafia won’t get to know where the money comes from). It’s not foolproof but at least it leaves mafia guessing. We could also do this the old fashioned way (and I’m guessing this is the way Magua wants us to do it if at all) by not having any announced town bloc and just privately transferring money to townreads. Open to suggestions here.

4) The items auctioned last night were incredibly shitty and I think a large part of the problem there was that the town overall did not put much towards advertising good PRs. Nacho and I had a similar thought process here – I told him that given the fact that the mafia started with more money than town last game, mafia would probably still have the starting money advantage here and we would have to put more towards actually winning things than advertising it. I even told him that we’d just let the other townies do the advertising for us. By the looks of things, this line of thinking appears to have been common among everyone, leading to a large diffusion of responsibility which into led to the shit N0 auctions. I’m asking the rest of you guys here to actually set aside some money for advertising good shit like BP, doctor, and commuter.

This kind of plan may not necessarily be in place for tonight as no one should really have over $150 unless they did absolutely nothing with their money, but it should work from D2 or D3 onward.

There might be a problem in how transferees can catch scum who give lower amounts than they're supposed to, but idk if that's a good tradeoff for limiting scum's ability to use that wiretap ability.

Pretty much agree with all of this. Nacho and I talked a bit about upside down; he told me was going to try to read it based on Quilford's posting but that N looked good and I agreed.

I think Quilford's only made the one post. He would have made more but he was on his phone and our name has stupid symbols in it that you can't type on a phone (I think that's the excuse he gave me - something about being on a phone, anyway; maybe he was just too lazy to log out/log in. I don't know how to do the symbols at any rate.)

I'm really not okay with the people who have been posting a crapton. It's a great way for scum to
- look town in the early game,
- blow up the thread into 26 pages after what, 24 hours, so that people like me who can't be on all day fall behind and lurk, which makes them prime scum targets, and
- decrease the signal:noise ratio.

I've had a stern word with N, and I'm definitely got my eye on Lost Butterfly, morph the cat, and Pyrotechnics.

On the other hand, it should be noted that as of yet PeregrineV, guille2015 and DoctorPepper haven't posted.

N asked me to take a look at Garuda. I didn't like the Voided and Mhork votes and the Klick vote bugs me, especially in regards to what I've just said above. Also the idea that this is like the only scumread Nacho and Empire agree on ('sync achieved'), I'd think that'd require more content than one post expressing what is a fairly common sentiment at this point (see: my previous post, Seanald, Hermy... as they seem to be well aware.) If I remember correctly, I've never played with Empire, but a one-post read glean doesn't match up with my recollections of Nacho-town. I do think that the intrahydra communication there sounds believable, though, and it's the only real thing that's giving me pause at the moment.

I'm conflicted on Lost Butterfly, because a lot of what Mina has done seems scummy to me (that awful first post about getting investigation immunity, html tags, argument with Pyrotechnics) and a lot of what Faraday has done seems much better. But I've never played with Mina and I can't read Faraday since Gay Mafia II and, I think, Mafiastuck.

Finally, Pyrotechnics has jumped out at me for a lot of setup spec / prior games analysis and not much scumhunting. Also, there's something off about #577 that I can't pin down.

Haven't looked at many others (BBmolla and zMuffinMan read town though); hope to take a look at the current wagons soon. I'm not sure what to think of deadline timing. Need to talk further with N.

I want to lynch Pyrotechnics. They produced too much setup spec and prior games analysis Day 1. Their incessant arguing with other players reads less genuine and more as a means to manufacture emotion. They seem to be attacking people for what they perceive as being incorrect rather than attacking people for what they perceive as being scummy. Also, they're hugely obnoxious.

Garuda still bugs me for the circumstances surrounding their terrible vote on Klick. The line they claimed sounded fake did not, at all, and I don't feel any Nacho-town vibes coming through. That said, they do come off better in their argument with Pyrotechnics.

Nero comes off as town on this page. Mhork's arguments are very bad, but I don't think he's scum. He seems too oblivious to how bad his arguments are.

Even if that whole misdirection thing between 1330 and 1363 hadn't happened, I'd still find this really shitty. For one thing, I wasn't "insisting on what I thought of Hermy" in that post. I was calling Tammy out for a stupid point. If it were some sort of "insistence on using the font", why did you quote the first time I did it when you called me out?
