I think, in general, people have a very hard time distinguishing behind "scummy" and "not super town". If something is scummy, it means there's inherent scum motivation/anti-town motivation behind what they're doing. I fail to see where anything I've done in this game specifically has inherent anti-town motivation.

My "throw my hands up and say fuck it" mentality that has plagued my town games recently have noticeably only been with town teams who refuse to engage in a dialogue about things. I can't remember the last time I had a case presented against me as town. Most of those games, when I ask for cases/points for me to debate, someone (*cough*FATE*cough*) starts screaming about how asking for points/cases to defend myself against is scum motivated and I should be lynched immediately. You'll notice, out of everyone who has passively or actively attacked me this game, literally only one of them has tried to present any valid reasons against me. That person was Axxle, and his one reason he cited ended up falling to shit when I quoted a post I had already made to provide context. He even unvoted me afterwards.

Here's a log of the people who have attacked me this game or said I'm scum:

- Triforce: "One of Reck/Fate could be scum?" No reasons, no points, no foundation for that belief.
- Fate: has screamed for my lynch due to "lack of enthusiasm". That's it. He has yet to explain how that makes me scum.
- Eleven: "Don't actually believe Reck's claim". Ok... why? Nope. Nothing.
- UT: "I don't like your reaction to Fate catching your scum meta". Tried to engage, he dodged the question and is just putting it off until tomorrow
- Axxle: "Your reads are wishy washy" "How?" "Like this." "No I explained that context" "Oh ok unvote"
- Nuwen: "Reck is scum" ???? Just mentioned off hand with no fucking context or reasoning
- Eleven: "I could totally see Reck being an ActionDan buddy" ??? No reasons or points to be made just idle speculation
- Gamma: implies that if Fate dies overnight he'll go after me the next day. that's it
- Cheery Dog: "we're lynching Reck tomorrow" ??? no other post or anything even hints at a scum read on me

I think I missed a bunch but you see my point. Two people have presented any reasons for me being scum whatsoever: Axxle and UT. Axxle, upon actually engaging on that point, realized it was not valid and backed down. UT just plugged his ears and went LALALALALALA and ran away from it all. Everyone else has just idly tossed out a scum read or expressed willingness to lynch me with no reasons at all. I have no interest in or ability to defend myself against a wagon built on literally nothing tangible. And this happens over...and over...and over...and over again. On the rare chance I get a town willing to engage me and present reasons, I'm more than happy to engage and fight and discuss. But when most games go like this one, with a wagon built on nothing? Fuck it, why bother, they're clearly not.

This is deliriously fence-sitty when I feel like Recktown would have a stronger opinion either way on something like 'do we lynch a claimed survivor on Day 1?'. It's a policy question, and I don't buy that the claimed doc protect made such a difference to his thinking as to create such noncommittal confusion.

Why, as scum, would I have any sort of hesitance about pursuing a lynch on a survivor one way or the other? If we had a vig, they could take them out, and if they were telling the truth about their role, it could greatly benefit town. The "policy" isn't exactly as black and white as you make it out to be... this isn't "should town lynch a known survivor", it's "should town lynch a survivor with a compulsory ability that can help town greatly"?

Then there's the claim. I dunno. I certainly don't think it makes me lean town on them particularly but I can't make a convincing argument to myself that it makes them scummier. It's plausible-ish (tbh I don't really remember Magua getting constantly lynched on Day 1 as a thing but presumably there's a good chance someone submitted it as nobody else has freaked out) but I am entertaining the thought that a mafia beloved princess might be a nice bonus for a scumteam who were facing a town with two vigs (essentially three, given Ythan). I am also entertaining the thought that the only thing better than a Mafia Day 1 beloved princess in that scenario is an any-day mafia beloved princess. That much is definitely a long shot and I'm not going to treat it as any more than such but if anyone is the sort of player who would make up that kind of role/gambit, Reck would be my nomination. Of more mundane concern is the fact that the BP claim is kind of convenient given the hammerer role (bear in mind that, in designing both of those as town roles, you would have to expect both to end up claiming on day 1 because claiming hammerer is the best town play for that role).

I can't really defend myself against setup speculation/design so... okay.

Something I noticed... Dan's self-vote was very weird and forced and Gamma piled on quickly afterwards. My gut read is that Dan was playing the long game of trying to win AtE town points, which means Gamma forcing a lynch via Iece hammer would be counterproductive. I have this nagging paranoia that Gamma has just fleeced me this entire game but my heart says he's town.

I have more people I think are town than people I think are scum. Prior to wagon analysis, there was a whole blegh pool of players that all melded together and were the same grey brothy goop of null-ness in my head:

Magua, Jordan, Ythan, Antihero, Pie, Cheery Dog, Axxle

By breaking people up into different categories based on potential scum behaviors, it helped me to process it in bite sized bits. I have no interest in going back and reading the thread to try and find something to fit my theory because that's how fucking confirmation bias happens and it'll likely not help. I'm much more interested in optimizing our chances at hitting correctly.

Axxle -- Never voted for scum. Day 1 play was pretty disgusting and icky. Has gotten slightly better since then. Belief that Dan was bussed seems pretty convicted/genuine?
Magua -- CDB replacement. I didn't even want to look at CDB D1 because I never get to play with him. Some dead people though CDB was scum. Magua's replacement into the game was rather worrisome. I dunno.
Ythan -- My theory: he's a serial killer, or some kind of third party, or he is a mafia day vig who counterclaimed the shot on Triforce to add some "complexity" to his role. "Scum would have a day vig but they wouldn't have a mafia day and night vig would they?" This is mostly paranoia than an actual scum read but it'd make me feel safer if he was dead

I'm lacking any super strong convictions right now but I'd say Pie & Cheery Dog are my top two preferred lynch candidates.

I know that I, as a mod, have never done it. I know the people I've co-modded with have never done it. I know the last AP modded game I've played in has never done it. I know I can't think of a game in recent memory that has ever done it.

It's generally frowned upon to straight up give the scum fake role claims because that SHOULD be an ability you get by playing scum (figuring out the best claim for a given situation) AND it leads to too much blame on the mod if the claim goes belly up.
