RULES
This rule set is largely original in terms of formatting and presentation (and all errors and oversights are my own). However, it was strongly influenced by reading the rule sets of, among others: Vi, hitogoroshi, saulres and Faraday/Mina. Any good ideas it contains are probably their fault.
(Don't cheat, don't be a terrible person and don't ruin the game for others.)
Spoiler:
1)
Remember that this is a game: treat your fellow players with respect and avoid harassment or personal attacks. PM the mod if you have a problem with another player's behaviour: don't respond in kind.
2)
Insults, slurs or offensive comments which are based on or allude to any other player's culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, mental health, nationality, race, religion or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.
3)
Inform the mod immediately if you are ever exposed to outside information about the game-state that could influence your subsequent approach to the game. Do not post in the game until the mod has responded.
4)
Don't pretend to break the rules, offer to break the rules, encourage other people to break the rules or try to hide the fact a rule has been broken.
Sportsmanship
(Don't try to do anything 'clever' to break the game.)
Spoiler:
5)
Dead people can't post. Not even to say “bah”. Once the mod says you're dead, you can't post in this thread until the mod says the game is over.
6)
Don't hide hidden messages in your posts using cryptography. (Very basic steganography is probably fine, but check with the mod in advance if you have any doubts.)
7)
Don't use any form of provable randomness (such as dice tags). Claiming to have made a decision at random is fine; being able to prove that you did this is not fine.
8)
Don't post links to any external notes or analysis made during the game; don't post links to any QTs given to you by the mods.
Game Mechanics
(How might the mechanics of this game differ from the last game you played?)
Spoiler:
9)
Before the game starts, everyone is asked to confirm receipt of their role PM by PMing the mod the name of their role and faction. The thread will be unlocked and Day 1 will start as soon as all but three players have confirmed.
10)
Votes must be in
bold
and begin
(UN)VOTE:
or
(Un)Vote:
but use of the vote tags is optional. A vote for a name not technically on the living player list counts as valid as long as it is clear to the mod who you meant to vote for.
11)
Each game day will end as soon as more than half of the living players are voting for the same option, or if
two weeks
have passed since the day began.
12)
Between the day ending and the mod announcing that night has begun, anybody who was alive as of the mod's last post may continue to post.
13)
All nights will last
48 hours
. Any actions sent in after this period will not count. All actions should either be PMed to the mod or made in bold in a mod-provided QT. Day begins as soon as the mod announces it has begun in the game thread.
14)
The game ends once a faction has achieved its winning conditions and the mod has posted on the thread to confirm this. Even if you think (or know) that the outcome of the game has been decided, please don't reveal the result or start discussing the game until the final scene goes up.
Activity
(How not to get prodded or replaced.)
Spoiler:
15)
All players should post at least once every
48 hours
to avoid being prodded. If you know that you will not be able to do so, please contact the mod to arrange a V/LA. Any V/LA or prod will be announced on thread by the mod.
16)
A replacement will be sought for any player who fails to respond to a prod within
24 hours
or has to be prodded an excessive number of times during the game. (Players may also be replaced by their own request, but please only request replacement if you really can't continue with the game).
Other
(Mod colour, mod errors and mod clarifications)
Spoiler:
17)
The mod's colour is
purple
. Please don't use it yourself.
18)
If you think the mod has made an error in a vote count or in (not) announcing a prod, please point the error out in-thread (try starting your post with
@MOD
to get the mod's attention...).
19)
For other mistakes, or if you have questions about how your role works, contact the mod privately. Don't necessarily expect an answer, especially to hypothetical questions.
20)
The mod reserves the right to clarify, edit, add to or other modify these rules during the game (but this will only happen if the mod realises they've made a mistake). All changes will be announced in-thread.
If you didn't read the above, you need to know that days last up to
two weeks
, that nights last (a fixed)
48 hours
and that it takes a proper majority to lynch somebody or go to night. And now you do!

Set-Up Information
This is a Normal game. In particular
:
Everyone playing is either aligned with the
town
, or is aligned with a (multi-member)
mafia faction
or
werewolf faction
or is a third-party
Serial Killer
.
There is either a single
mafia faction
and no werewolf faction, a single
werewolf faction
and no mafia faction, or both a
mafia faction
and a
werewolf faction
.
There is at most one
Serial Killer
.
There are no Cults and no mechanism by which a player's alignment can change during the game.
There are no Lynchers, no Survivors and no Jesters.
There are no insane Cops, quack Doctors, blank Vigilantes, or similar. You have the roles you're told you have.
As this is a normal game, there is at least one vanilla town player.
Any vanilla town player will have received the following role PM
:
Welcome to the game,
[player name]
. You are
vanilla town
.
During the day you can read the thread, post in the thread, and vote. At night … well, you can still read the thread if you want? You can't do anything else.
You win once all non-town players are eliminated as long as at least one town-aligned player is still alive.

You haven't posted in the neighborhood QT yet. What's up with that?
1) Have you ever played with DV before in a game?
2) Please explain how "knowing more people" relates to your actions upon entering this game.
Obfuscation is now added to the lack of sincerity.
Very good. I see you have totally ignored my question "Ingenuine
how
?", and added obfuscation, and changed ingenuine to insincere. If you could be a bit more clear in your thoughts it will help me to develop a read on you.
1) Considering your 2) it's strange that you ask this. Because you are saying that having played with people is not game related, or is insincere, or ingenuine (actually I don't know what you're specifically saying because you never clarified just what it was that you found not genuine, but rather steamrolled on with an 'obfuscation' accusation), and here you are asking me to provide *more* information which you apparently find scummy.
The answer is Yes: I've played with Deas (who I think is fun), and mastin (who I see somewhat as a mentor), and Pere, and Smudger, and Nero Cain, and one other player under an undisclosed alt. I also know RachMarie as she modded my first game.
So I'm conversant with several
personalities
in this game, and I think that will aid me in getting reads on players.
2) Probably answered in the above unless you have something more specific or clear to ask.
Perhaps if mastin is town too we shall be an unstoppable scumhunting force.
For someone that burned you as scum, you are letting him off far too lightly which reads as insincere; this was indicated by my question #1 to you and was meant as a form of an answer.
you are asking me to provide *more* information which you apparently find scummy.
You used "knowing more people" as a reason for your entrance post. I still don't understand the connection and you have not explained it; thus it remains obfuscation to me. That and the emotive "yawn" just isn't clicking for me here.
Well this is good news! Perhaps if mastin is town too we shall be an unstoppable scumhunting force.
Or the first three nightkills ><
Rogers, add trying to build a coalition of friends based on past exploits rather than current-game evidence.

Out of RVS
Town reads are easy for scum; no townie paranoia at the OK Corral today Doc.

- Answer my question about what you found ingenuine
- I think I just realised what the fuck you're talking about regarding "MOAR" people, and the reason I mentioned it was that I actually said "Hi!" To Deas, then Pere posted and I hadn't noticed he was in the playerlist (and then spotted a couple others)
- I'm sheeping Deas to get a more solid read on him, and I think his vote on Doc was legit
- I'm also aware of shitting up the thread when only a handful of folks have posted so far, so here's a hint and an adieu: I'm town and you're barking up the wrong tree if you are too.

I answered it in post #17, but to further the point, there is a certain cog-dis in your query of DV (whom apparently you have seen recently as scum):
Instead of pressuring him you RVS vote Mastin as a way of greeting him; you pass up pressuring someone who you portend to be alignment concerned over for a non-pressure RVS "greet vote". You then declare them town for no objective reason and appear to bait the person you RVS voted for into a town bloc.
Because of the above, you were obviously not concerned about DV's alignment (nor Mastin's for that matter). It was only window dressing. Its the reason your entrance post was insincere and its proven by your subsequent actions.
Scum want town buddies and are not alignment concerned.

I got major suspicion on Deas during RVS last time we played together. I wasn't burned at all.
Dunno how you form reads, but I tend to like to interact in different ways with people and assess whether I think their responses are genuine or not, and whether they make sense and are consistent with the gamestate.
Anyway, carry on.

@Talah: Can you please link to that game with Deas?
You haven't posted in the neighborhood QT yet. What's up with that?
Lolz, I'll get on that
In other news I like being out of rvs within 3 live posts. While its sort of forced (what super early day 1 case stuff isn't) I still like rogers better for it.
