Rules, blatently stolen from myself twice, and MeMe before that:

  • DON'T PANIC

  • Nights will last around 3 RL days. The deadline will be posted. If you need an extension, just tell me, I might need one someday myself.
  • Days will last as long as they need to. If discussion lags, I will impose a deadline. If discussion picks up, the deadline will be rescinded.
    ONCE
. If I have to institute it again, it’s permanent.
  • Votes must be in
    bold
. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted. If you are not counted, you do not exist. If you do not exist, you will miss out on the spankings.
  • Once a player has reached the necessary majority to lynch, the day is over. Unvoting them will not save their life.
  • No lynches are allowed, they require the same votes as a lynch.
  • The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread.
  • Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. You may only quote Shakespeare after you’re dead.
  • Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts. No matter what stupid thing you've done.
  • Feel free to quote PMs from me. Go on! Have a blast.
  • If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. The first time you miss a deadline, no choice will be made. The second time you miss a deadline, I will make a choice for you. This usually involves you walking up to the ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal and giving him a wedgie.
  • If you're going to be gone any amount of time, let everyone know. Please.
  • Mass roleclaims day 1 ENCOURAGED. *evil cackle*
  • The mod is god. Any mistakes such as inaccurate vote counts are
    obviously
YOUR mistake. Please point out your mistakes so I can correct them. And if I ask you to stand on your head until you pass out, youre response should be “WHICH WAY SHOULD I FALL, MOD!” Sacrifices of small woodland animals accepted.

EPISODE IV – A New Beginning

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, a Rebellion has formed against an evil Galactic Empire. The Rebellion has won its first victory against the oppressors, but the Empire has constructed a superweapon, the planetkilling Death Star. These events break in on the life of young Luke Skywalker, a farm boy on the desert world of Tatooine. As he is drawn into the swirl of events, he decides to join the Rebellion and become a Jedi knight, like his mysterious, absent father. But before his training is complete, Luke and his Rebel friends must confront the power of the Death Star.

This is not his story. It is, however, the ongoing story of a rather remarkable book, which Luke had never seen, and which in fact makes little or no appearance in this story. However, it is theorized that Luke would have appreciated the lower cost of the Hitchhiker’s Guide, and would undoubtedly have been pleased with the words “DON’T PANIC” printed in large, friendly orange letters on the plastic cover.

In the beginning, everything was a big mess. Then bits and pieces went wonky, and things generally went downhill from there. Most of the beings in the universe were dedicating their time to figuring out how not to do anything anymore. One particular race was above that. They spent all their time figuring out how to obliterate all those beings that were trying not to do anything anymore. They got very, very good at destroying, until they decided they wanted an Ultimate Bomb. Small, efficient, totally effective, it would wipe out the universe in a jiffy. Nothing would stand a whelk’s chance in a supernova of surviving. They also developed a computer, named Hactar, to doodle, design, draw, draft, debug, and eventually deploy this ultimate weapon… but Hactar was shocked at the idea, and installed a flaw in the bomb. The beings weren’t pleased, and vaporized Hactar, then proceeded to obliterate themselves, which meant their race didn’t have to worry about settling down and trying not to do anything anymore.

However, eventually, Hactar’s spirit tricked the people of Krikkit to carry out his destiny, which he shirked originally. The people of Krikkit created robots to destroy the universe, and two thousand years of war later, the planet of Krikkit was locked in a slo-time envelope, to be unlocked at the end of the universe, so they could enjoy solitude at last. The key was magnificent, three wickets and two precious bails between them. However, and the gate-locking ceremony, a Krikkit warship appeared and tried to sieze the key. The warship was destroyed, and so was the key, vaporized into non-existance, and the universe considered the Krikkit race locked away forever.

But things come back.

Earlier today, a strange “whop” appeared in the courtroom of Argubuthon, and some white robots stole the Argabuthon Scepter of Justice, a rather ugly plastic knobby scepter, that most sentinent beings would not have used to unplug a clogged loo. The Krikkit robots now had possession of one of the five parts of the Key! They must be stopped! (Unless, of course, you *ARE* a robot of Krikkit, in which case you really don’t want to stop yourself).

And the night passes uneventfully. Well, on a deserted asteroid circling a planet called Dragoon it passed uneventfully. Throughout the rest of the galaxy, major things were happening, a few of the most major having to do with this story.

The first event involves the immolation of a mattress. Given the quality of this mattress, it might have been suitable to have served Eccentrica Gallumbits for as much as sixteen hours before needing replacement. HOWEVER, this destiny was wiped out during the night by a beam of death. Stewie, The Mattress, was destroyed irrevocably. Only the familiar sound of half-crazed etymologists calling distantly to each other remained on his swampy planet.

The second event was just as dire. The starship “Bistromath” was on its way to protect those trying to get the parts of the Wikkit key. Slartibartfast, also known as Carmine to family, friends, and certain creditors who would now never find him, had just finished making sure a trusted member of the universe was safe. Then a beam of pure, radiant, even scintillating destruction entered the picture.

There was a horrible, ghastly silence.

There was a horrible, ghastly noise.

There was a horrible, ghastly silence.

Never more would there be arguments over tips and fumbling for billfolds with nothing in them but holes and pence... the Bistromath and its lone occupant were gone forever.

Never one to end on a depressing note, two items of news appeared on the horizon to make the remaining protectors of the universe take heart---

First, no other piece of the Wikkit gate has fallen into evil hands tonight.

Second, forty gajillion members of the Galactic Navigator’s Alliance Pilots saved an average of sixteen altarian dollars per year by switching to MegaGeicomatic Starcraft Insurance.

Stewie, The Mattress, town, killed night 1
Carmine, Slartibartfast, doc, killed night 1

It is DAY 1. 10 alive, 6 to lynch.

I keep looking in my sentbox, but don't see any PMs I mailed out today in there. Anyone who had a night choice with a result, please PM me so I can make sure they were received.

It looks a bit unclear to me. The story mentions Stewie as being dead and the dead name Wacky. Maybe Werebear let them get together on the mattress and some horrible mutation evolved that is both Stewie and Wacky  .

vote: Wacky
for not knowing if you're a mattress or not, that seems quite suspicious! But since your name is on the deadlist, I get the feeling, you are indeed the mattress, thus making a pointless case.... so I will
vote: Stewie
for either being, or not being the mattress... or let's just say, it's a random coincidence.

Bah, when I posted I didn't read the death scene. Yeah, I'm the matress, and I thought that Wacky is another mattress that died. However, the deathscene mentions me being destroyed.

I'll wait unil werebear posts, and then do the mandatory bah post, or move on with the game.

Tonight on Larry Stinger, When Spreadsheets Go Bad

Stewie, The Mattress, is dead.
Wacky, who is not The Mattress, but who has been mistaken for one occasionally, is not dead.
The Mod, who has been mistaken for a bear skin rug occasionally, is not quite dead yet.... but is getting in the cart. :)

The first posts have been fixed. Apologies to all.

Ah, me=idiot. Wacky's post asking whether or not hes a mattress made a lot more sense once it's clear that the opening post has been edited. How benightedly unitelligent of me. In any case, it's still weird that Wacky asked, so...

Just to remind everybody, that was vote number three on Wacky. Rather quick for a bandwagon, isn't it? A small
FOS: Mathcam
becuase I don't really think Wacky's mistake is nessesarily scummy.

It seems this game we have a SK (or a very foolish vig). For the life of me, I can't think of what character would be the second killer. Has anybody who has read Hitchhiker's Guide recently have any leads?

Secondly, I am mildly surprised that the most experianced players were not targeted by the killers. This coudl mean more than one thing though:

1. The experianced players are scum (I am somewhat part of this group also)

2. The killers figured the experianced players would have doc protection and what after lesser known people

3. The killers are clueless and chose a target randomly

Thoughts?

Stewie DOES have a very large post count which might be taken for experience. FOS: bloojay and Lain.

Vote: Mathcam
. For starters, he isn't dead. For seconds, Werebear mentioned my name twice in the key sections whereas Stewie's was buried somewhere in there. Thirdly, no-one ever takes me. What's more stewie started posting (etc.)

Darkblade wrote:Wacky's mistake
What mistake? Wacky asked a very sensible question given the circumstances. In fact, the question was probably rhetorical, and just a way of telling Werebear he has made a mistake, allowing for the fact that in an unusual game like this, there is a small possibility that the paper will differ from the role PM, and Werebear hadn't made a mistake at all. And now, after Werebear admitted his mistake, can you continue to pressure Wacky?

Vote: Mathcam

FOS: God
, since he claims it was only random.

Well here's a problem...everyone who is in this game has a pretty good sized amount of experience (except for Carmine to some extent, but she died).

Thirdly, no-one ever takes me.
Werebear mentioned your name precisely 0 times in the opening post, and I'm not even sure what that second sentence means. Recall that I didn't see the opening post before it was edited. Maybe if you were around for the whole mistake, seeing the opening post before it was corrected, then Wacky's post doesn't look suspicious. I don't know, but many of you seem to think so. It's still going in my notes as suspicious stuff Wacky as said, but there's enough of you who seem to think my vote is misplaced for me to
Unvote: Wacky
. Then let me
Vote: Bloojay
for being 3rd on a bandwagon that I happen to know is anti-town without giving any explanation.

On other notes, Stewie is very much non-newbie, both in post count and in number of games played. Carmine was pretty much our only resident newbie. As for who died, Darkblade's hypothesis is certainly reasonable, but with the level of experience in this game, I think it's even more likely that the killers chose randomly.
