This is a bastard game. Lynching the Mod often has desirable effects in bastard games, especially when they are modded by old-timers like MoS. And we already know he's recording the votes.
When lynching the Mod has no effect in a bastard game, it normally just resets the vote count, so it's benign to try for it.

To be fair.

While the action is often benign, the alignment of the suggester is quite often not. Last bastard game I was in, I was scum and made the suggestion--it allowed me to not antagonize any players in the RVS, it allowed me to hide from players who're otherwise decently-skilled at reading my alignment, it allowed me to look relatively pro-town, and it allowed me to essentially in-thread lurk by not giving content but watching content develop. And I did in fact ultimately go on to win that game as basically my first solo-scum win ever.

...Granted, it was a micro game, and I mainly coasted on the towncred of hardcore bussing my scumbuddy D1 and my reputation of not-bussing being much stronger then than it is now, butstill. A benign suggestion can be carried by a malevolent player.

We can't get any real counter wagons on players or any logical reason why lynching the mod is good.

Just saying, there's been a wagon on me for basically the whole game, even pregame, so it's fair to say that I AM the counterwagon of sorts. Also, Iece kinda...just gave good logical reasons for lynching the mod right above your post that you ignored.

What is the site you are ferencing Mastina?

The site I host my webcomic on. (I don't cross the streams much.) Sadly, though, mafia over there is beginning to die out thanks to mass-apathy inducing vegging on a game-killing scale.

To give you an idea of how bad it is, we used to run 30-player games with little difficulty; we can barely manage half that now. In a 20-player game, we used to have 15-18 active on the first day; now we have at most 10. Getting worse with each day, of course. (Needless to say, mafia wins have become increasingly common.) Oh, and even hosts (including the effectively-listmod-host who is the site's equivalent of zoraster for running awesome games while keeping the queue running!) have been having difficulties. Days/nights are

supposed

to be 24 hours long, but are slipping to be 36, 48, even 72 hours long. Which is sad; they've been running games since 2009 (actually, might be early 2010 but close enough--technically started as Werewolf, but same thing) without pause or hesitation; at one point, they had two games running concurrently. (One mafia, one werewolf.) As one game ended, the next started signups, filled within a week (or in some cases, within days! At least some games filled in under 24 hours!), and ran to its conclusion. Now, it takes two weeks to get even close to that 15-player range. :/

So basically, the game's dead for the time being. I'm more reminiscing about the glory days. (That site is as much responsible for me being the me I am now as MS.net is. If not moreso.) You'd probably not be surprised to learn my reputation over there is mainly for walling, analysis, excessive usage of ":P", and masterful scum play. (I've not been there since the very beginning, but have been present for more than I have been absent, and was there near the beginning and have continued being there for the majority of games, performing fairly strongly in basically every game I wasn't lynched early. When I'm given the chance to do the analysis, I'm generally considered one of the strongest players on that site for town. But other than that, from my descriptions, where I die early be it lynch or nightkill, things I'm known for, and whatnot, I think it's fairly obvious--different name, different site, but oh so very much the same me. )

There, I spent excessively-long amounts of time and effort on games, analyzing them to death and trying my hardest to win them even after my demise. It was stressful, and...frankly, I was a bit of an arrogant prick.
But way back in 2012, I managed to figure out that the game is much, much more healthily and easily played casually, and that it'd be good for fun. The analysis still got done, mainly privately in my head through mental calculations, but was not done as intensely as before. Yet my play didn't suffer from the change; I was about as accurate as I was before the change.

Now keep in mind the here and now in 2014, where I've [mostly] managed to take this approach for MS.net. Games where I spend excessively-long amounts of time and effort in tend to destroy my life, without giving me reward. Whereas by playing casually, I avoid the stress yet am just as accurate if not moreso. My 'analysis' is mostly done inside my head with subtle vague hints in-thread, which I can elaborate on if needed but mostly lazily choose note to. Plus, I've [mostly] lost my arrogance, making me an all-around much more fun player to be around. I was considered an elite veteran on that site back in my 2010 days, but I wasn't LIKED until the change in 2012; people didn't start liking me on here until I started being humble. Still not considered an elite scumhunter on here, but oh well. I do try.)

Oh, and most of the people I know are Australian or German, with a side of Ontario-area Canadian. (Oh, and a decent number of the more arctic countries. Finland, Greenland, you get the idea. On Wednesday, spent literally all day preparing.
Went to bed at 3:30 am.
Woke up at 4:30 am.
Since I'm traveling with family (all of us departed in a singular astro van), coordination took 'til 7:30 am for us to leave. (Plan was for 7:00.) Picked up my sister in Montanna at approximately 5:45 local time. (4:45 our time.) Continued traveling via rotating drivers for 24 hours--during the night, we had a driver and a spotter, with the spotter to keep the driver alert. (I was a spotter, but never a driver...in part because I wasn't doing great as a spotter.) Arrived at destination Nebraska at 5:00 local time (3:00 my time), making total travel time be 28/30 hours. Went through a TON of construction, each stop we made cost us lots of time, and though I slept more than any other person, I clearly didn't sleep well. Also, neck pains are a pain.

Soyeah. That's vacation so far. And guess what, on Sunday we get to do it all again! (Joy, eh?)

All listed as modifiers, if it's relevant. I apparently started with 1 of each in stock, though MoS hasn't been telling me since then what IS in stock. When I asked about my role PM, he clarified that what's in stock may or may not change, but given that I've yet to be informed of a change in stock, again, thinking mod trolling.
So basically, I have three anti-town abilities, with a false promise of me being able to give out more pro-town ones.

Going by this, I'd say most likely scum are in {epm, Axxle, Cupcake, amanda/B-bomb, B-bomb/amanda} in that order, approximately. Levi could be bussing with the whole "nacho is mod-confirmed scum", but I don't really think so. The only other possible scum there are Molla and Cupcake. I don't think Molla's scum, so if there's a busser, it'd be Cupcake.

EPM just in general looks a bit scummy. The Titus wagon as the alternative wagon to Nacho (I forget which came first and which was the counterwagon) is obviously a little bit sketch, and Nacho's not above bussing, 'specially if he thinks he's going down. (Then again, he's also not above encouraging a scumbuddy [e.g. levi] to hardcore bus him. ) And Axxle's posting hasn't been that town, either. Go ahead! Right now, I agree, it's not ideally formatted. I formatted it that way to throw the page onto the wiki, not sure what to do.

(I'm fairly competent at writing MD articles and placing them on the wiki; basically every article listed here has gotten my touch.)

Speaking of which, my computer death killed my MD work, but I should really reboot the effort. I STILL have at least two or three articles that I think can be written and useful. (For instance, I really want to stop having to brag about my scumplay inside games and to demonstrate my scumplay methodology in an MD article, since scumplay's what I've gotten to be better at. Or lategame play as town, butstill.) Plus, I kinda really want to write a joke (well, semi-joke) article or two about me, yet I can't have my fun writing them if people are expecting my next MD work to be serious. So I need to publish something serious before I get to do those small in-jokes.

By the way, never responded to this. Saw them, and thanks for them. Will be trying to do the formatting on them when I get around to it. (My to-do list is a bit long.) I think I can work a lot of magic on 'em, adding in guest speakers and whatnot, since I did have plenty for the articles. (And for that matter, the academy. One article is situational awareness as scum, AKA the "how mastin plays scum guide, 2014 edition". [The slightly in-depth guide to scum being the 2013 edition, with a slight augmentation in the form of the Tips to Scum.] Another is the town counterpart, situational awareness as town and why circumstances/context is key. A third is on my more relaxed, casual take on the game, the theory behind it and why it's healthy, productive, and better overall than a super-serious take on things. Then there's the fact that I STILL have sthar8's conversations, and THEN there's still the fact that I owe ETL's thread a thorough review and commentary. That's just what I can recall off the top of my head. I had a full list on my now-dead computer.)
