How about I do you one further than flavourclaim and claim that I'm a miller?

BoL, do you have a specific reason for assuming this game is badly designed enough for flavour claim to benefit the town more than the mafia? I'm not referring to role based stuff, more mod and general mini theme knowledge. Is it still normal for this to be the case?

I don't get why ScumMathDino'd think "I wasn't given a false claim, I'm just going to go into the thread and suggest that massclaim would break the game" then "softclaim" a couple of posts. If anything that seems the action of a scumguy that definitely has a falseclaim and wants to out power.

quiz update: Finished midtable, new quizmaster and he was pretty poor. I posted that I wasn't going to be here because I thought this was going to be a fast game and that seemed like the right thing to do at the beginning when the game is generally quick regardless.

I think the flavour claim is a poor idea in this game more than other similar games and we should stop doing it, and from this point on, not just do it because others have.

SMP is scummy because his reaction to hearing someone else might have claimed his role isn't "Who do you think did it because we should lynch the lying scum if so". It's a very casual reaction, like he knew that that probably didn't happen.

Mathdino has claimed softclaimed power, and I think that the dissonance LLD claimed and I agree is there is because of that and reasonable from town.

If he has a strong flavour claim, it makes sense for him to think flavour is useful and come out with that early. It also makes sense for him to not to want to claim his role whilst wanting others to claim theirs (because he knows his is strong). That's the dissonance, imho. He's is (or was) in favour of it generally but knows that it doesn't benefit him on a purely selfish level while putting it forward because he thinks it might benefit the town generally.

That what I see in his initial behaviour and reluctance to claim originally. I wouldn't speak as to what he's thinking now regarding this.

Also fwiw, I'm inclined to believe he's overextended town rather than mafia playing a gambit. I think mafia would be more inclined to drop the safeclaim rather than invite the pressure.

The implementation of the rule is to eliminate the need for replacements. I fail to see the difference in replacing out vs. forced replacement. Another modkill incoming.
It's fine if they knew that was going to happen and they were going to be modkilled when they made the decision. Otherwise you're dicking them over. I personally don't really care, this game could still be fun despite it, though I have downgraded it in my personal estimation as not really counting as a proper mafia game.

Anyway, I'm going to do to a bit of a reread with this in mind, though I don't think anything really changes with these reveals.

Hilariously there are benefits now to a D1 NL, not that I'd recommend it. What a mess.

@BBT: Good on your lad jagielka. Also yeah, but which one? If you pick one based on inevitable shaky evidence, I'll try and do the same.

I'd lump abr in there too before kcda and SMP. Which is half the game assuming you count those latter two.

Heph and flames are the most obvious "need to be giving reads"ers.

Also, DukeC, who I missed, who hasn't even posted yet and will presumably be modkilled/replaced if he doesn't post in the next few hours.

I would also add I think SMP hasn't been especially inactive (he's probably said more of substance than I have).

On the flipside, if we dominate this game and get all the scums in a row now we'd probably be in with a shout for a scummy.

TBF, if the mod was going to make up a new rule (like he did), he wouldn't include the caveat for non-posters (knowing exactly who that would relate to) unless he was going to replace DukeC.

Yep.

By the way, any of the non-posters who want to turn up and post *just* about these events without also looking over the rest of the game at some level should not do that.

SMP wrote:I must have missed something here, why would math scumflipping mean they don't have fakeclaims? Because he hasn't claimed anything yet?
No, I don't get this either. If he claims something awful then gets lynched as scum, sure, but if he doesn't?

:/
Would've been better to see what they did and scold/reprimand/vote them afterward.
Fuck them turning up, doing that, then not posting for two days, tbh.

Yeah, roles like that generally are a crapshoot and its success depends entirely on who gets it. You'll either get someone who loves it, hates it, or lurks because it's hard for them to post. It's nice when you get the former, but the latter two are more likely.
