Not allowing this would essentially force people to lie about the reasons for their reads, IMO (especially people whose teammates have better reads than they do). If my teammate who can read X like a book checks in and says, "Omigod, X is playing to his scum meta!", I'd rather not get lynched for saying, "Uh, I know I said X looks townish, but suddenly I changed my mind and want to join this wagon. VOTE: X"- Mina

I'm very offended by this post...
...because of its blatant misinterpretation ofLes Miserables, since Javert is in fact the anti-waffler, to the point where he would rather die than be uncertain.- Mina

That's crazy. Why would you waste all five tokens on anyone being town when you start off with 4/5 odds of drawing the preferred alignment? You're practically guaranteed to draw town by using only two or three...

(Well played in Twin Trap. It must have been hard for scum with all the VTs except for Alchemist townreading each other on D1 and all the mislynch options claiming PRs.)- Mina

But Team Mafia is unique in that the people on your "team" in an individual game are also your competitors in the tournament as a whole. The format doesn't work unless it forces everyone on a faction to work together and win. A system based on individual performance would skew the play toward showy behaviour like bussing, or lurking to avoid a nightkill as a VT. And also, do you really want whichever team signs up the four most reputable players first to win before it even begins?
Besides, why does Team Mafia need to be THE PINNACLE OF MAFIA ACHIEVEMENT and THE HIGHEST HONOUR ON MAFIASCUM? The Scummies are there to reward individual performance. Frankly, I'd predicted that with twenty teams and six games, whoever won Team Mafia would be whoever got lucky, not whoever played the best. No one player*cough* who's not a vig *cough*can singlehandedly carry a game, or control how every single member of the rest of his/her faction plays. - Mina
