Mini Theme Queue

Mini Themes can have a maximum of 13 players and are run in Coney Island. Games are considered Themed when they have: (a) an obvious non-mafia theme, or (b) non-Normal game mechanics and/or roles. This queue is for games in sign-ups. If you have a question about a currently running game, please PM me.

Players

Signing Up for a Game

- Please post in this thread to be added to the next game. As there are two Mini Themes taking sign-ups at any given time, please specify for which game you are signing up (e.g., "/in mith's game" or "/in Godfather Mafia") or specify that you'd like to be placed in the game that has been in sign-ups longer.

A non-specific sign-up such as "/in" or "/in for next" will be ignored.

Player Requirements

- There is no experience requirement to sign up for a Mini Theme. However, moderators are allowed to have sign-up restrictions for their games, and they may deny any sign-up at their discretion.

Game Limits

- Each player can be active in a total of only four Mini games (Normal and/or Theme) at a time. Hydras and alt accounts count toward this limit. While it's helpful to keep track of this yourself, the Mini Normal/Theme List Moderators have a list, and we can let you know. If a player dies in an ongoing game, that player is considered released and is free to sign up for another.

You Can't Jump the Gun

- Any /in posted for a game prior to that game taking sign-ups will be ignored. Please contact the moderator of that game to submit a pre-/in.

Bastard Games

- Only one bastard game will be taking sign-ups at a time and will be indicated in the queue post. For the purposes of this queue, a bastard game is defined as a game that meets at least one of the following conditions: cults, mid-game alignment changes, moderator lies that cannot be reasonably anticipated (e.g., godfather, tailor, miller, ninja, and similar mechanics are considered reasonable anticipations; telling someone they are a reflexive doctor when they're actually a paranoid gun owner is not), secret win conditions, un-divulged non-randomness in player role/alignment generation, or direct moderator influence during the game.

Post-Game Surveys

- Players may be contacted after a Mini Theme game has ended for their feedback regarding the game and the moderator(s). Participation is voluntary, and only summary data will be made available to users. If you wish to opt out of all surveys, please PM me.

Moderators

Experience Requirements

- To sign up to moderate a Mini Theme, you must have successfully moderated one Mini Normal or Open Game. If you have experience moderating on other sites, you may request those games to count as your game of experience; please contact mith. You must still have been active on the site for at least three months and have completed at least one Mafia game.

Signing Up to Run a Game

- Please post in this thread to be added to the moderator queue (e.g., "/in to mod"). Posting a tentative game title with your sign-up post is preferred.

Game Limits

- Potential moderators can be in only a single Mini or Open moderator queue (i.e., Mini Normal, Mini Theme, or Open) at a time. Moderators must wait until the game they are moderating is completed before joining the queue again. Moderators are also limited to the number of games that they can run simultaneously. Please see the Modding Requirements wiki page for more information.

Pre-/in Limits

- You may have up to 50% of your player slots, rounded down, filled by pre-/in sign-ups.

Running a Micro-sized Game

- You may run a game that qualifies as a Micro game (nine or fewer players) in the Mini Theme Queue. However, that game will count as a Micro for moderating experience; three Micro games equal one full game of moderating experience.

Sign-Up Time Limit

- Games that have not filled within 28 days of beginning sign-ups will be pulled from the queue.

Setup Review Guidelines

- Submitting your game setup to a reviewer is strongly encouraged but not required. Moderators wishing to utilize the private topics feature for their setup reviews should contact me to receive access. When advertising, moderators should only list reviewers who have explicitly approved the final version of their setup.

Backup Moderator Guidelines

- Having a backup moderator for your game is strongly encouraged but not required. Your complete setup -- including all full-text role PMs, private topic links, notes, and setup information -- will be requested if you do not have a backup moderator. Users who wish to back up a Mini Theme game must be qualified to run a Mini Theme game.

Communication

- Please respond promptly to all PMs I send you. If you do not respond within seven days, you may be removed from the queue as I will assume that you have left the site. When I send you a PM asking if you will be ready to run your game when you get to the top of the queue, assume that you will be asked to run your game tomorrow.

Game Threads

- Effective September 2015, moderators have 72 hours from the time they are given Coney Island privileges to begin their games. For games where the mechanic requires a design phase, games must start within ten days. Your game number should either be in your thread title or in the first post. This is extremely helpful for archiving purposes. It is also very helpful if your first post stays up to date (even after the game is completed) with players who are dead and alive. It helps keep track of Mini limits for players, and we like to have a record of how games have finished.

Post-Game Surveys

- Players may be contacted after a Mini Theme game has ended for their feedback regarding the game and the moderator(s). Summary data is available to game moderators upon request. If you wish to opt out of this service for one game or for all future games, please PM me.

The following rule as been added to the opening post:

You may run a game that qualifies as a Micro game (9 or fewer players) in the Mini Theme Queue; however, that game will count as a Micro for moderating experience.

This is effective immediately for moderators who plan to run any games in Theme Park. Please note that 3 Micro games will count as one game of moderating experience.

Moderators are reminded to list only reviewers who have explicitly approved their setup. They should not list reviewers who have not approved the setup, regardless of the reason(s). This applies even in queues where reviews are not mandatory. Setup review is an integral part of quality control on the site, so please respect that process.

While I appreciate the initiative, the right thing to do would have been to PM me to grab my attention, not gone ahead with creating a game thread. Though not true in this case, there are occasionally things on the back end that can hold up a game being declared full.

That said, you can't run that many games at a time, anyway. You're limited to the amount of games that you can run at the same time site-wide. If you've completed moderating one game, you're limited to running one at a time. If you've completed two or more, you're limited to two. If you want to run three, you have to run it by mith. This doesn't apply to Newbie Games, as those are considered a service to the site.

Moderators may, at their discretion, reject any sign-up for any reason, as long as they are not abusing the system to run quasi-invitational games. In this case, both Netherspite and Titus have denied Anxiety Attack's sign-up, and that is their right, regardless of whether or not their decision is justified.

Jeanne11's Detective Conan Mafia is being pulled from sign-ups. Per the terms of her ban, sign-ups for her game will be delayed until the end of her ban.
