There are no scum here--only friends and foes.
And probably a 50000 page D1.- Varsoon

I'm really hoping it doesn't just play out like typical multiball where the only winning move is not to play;In post 59, Dwlee99 wrote:Nosferatu!!
On a side note is this setup kinda like serial killer typeish? aka able to scumhunt effectively because uninformed
Anyone who seems too effective at 'scum hunting' and being 'obv town' catches a kill from at least one of the informed killing factions because "That dude will eventually be a threat if he is not already."
At least this setup seems to subvert the usual multiball problem of "Sure do hope that the kills happen to be all on town if I'm scum or crosskills if I'm town, otherwise, due to balance reasons, things will snowball way too hard against me." Typically, in a poorly balanced multiball, town is beefed up to make up for the whole 2 semi-informed kills a night thing, but that can, sometimes in two day phases and one night phase, turn into only 1 kill a night and make the game practically unwinnable for the surviving anti-town faction. Vice versa, sometimes the anti-town factions kill out all the strong town roles very quickly between mislynches and kills and town is pretty much unable to win at a certain tipping point so long as the anti-town factions don't cross-kill.
The real problem I foresee in this game is that, due to being a 27 player game with multiple factions (and on this site), post volume is going to be enormous and take forever to keep up with. This typically creates a very unfair replace-in situation where incoming players have a novel-length game to read if they want to get up to date. Furthermore, it even further pushes a prevalent lurking strategy (which is already effective in multiball setups) to the extreme because no one can usually be held accountable to read that much content. Even if every single player in the game only made a single post every 24 hours, that'd be a whole new page each day and people still wouldn't be responding in earnest real-time to everything that's happening. Most large games sputter out after their first few days because the sheer amount of information in daunting and it's a very effective scum strategy to keep town from wanting to engage with the overwhelming game.
This is why I signed up with apprehension. I'm not saying that all large multiball setups end up this way, but that they trend towards games that I don't find easy to keep up with, engage with, or genuinely feel good about winning in. That said, I want to grow stronger as a player and I want to be a part of games like this so that I can, hopefully, gain a bit more experience and mastery over them. It is a good way to be exposed to several different players (although not very useful for meta since smaller games will often be played differently) and it can be an effective way to experience several different, unique sorts of game states. It's not all bad, but it can be a real rubbish experience, so I'm hoping this game turns out to be engaging, fun, and satisfying.- Varsoon

You're right on the math, beeboy. 27x5x14 divided by 25 = 75.6 pages.
Like I said, trust that if we don't quick-lynch someone, we'll have an enormous D1.- Varsoon

That's cool, just claim loudly in my direction and I'll cross my fingers that you're one of the factions that wins with me.- Varsoon

Obviously, we'll have to cross-fingers to roll on the same side and we'll have to develop and actual plan when we get there, but maybe the stars will align?
Regardless, I can't bring any outside influence to the game, so this entire conversation didn't happen. :3 - Varsoon
