In a twisted manner, I have to thank the scum for their hammer of Smithereens.
The whole of D1, I was debating to myself.
"Which of Smithereens or Murdercat do I save?"
After all, as my god-tiered townreads, both were equally obvtown and good saves to make.

And then Smithereens got lynched.

So that made things considerably easier! (Was probably gonna save Murdercat anyway.)
Just so there's no ambiguity whatsoever: I'm a N1 doctor.
I saved Murdercat.

My secret scumread was, and still is, SirCakez.
But we're still lynching one of {Transcend, Dunnstral} today, period, end of discussion.

I like this post, tend to believe it, and am lightly town-reading Ranger through the 10 pages I've read.

BUT, I just want to note that a blatant fake claim like this is something scum!ranger would totally do. Just remember this if two days from now we haven't hit scum and nothing seems to make sense.

It's very early in phase and you were only at L-2. Why did you think this would help town more than scum?

I read every post, I consider every argument, and I try to say something when I can, but I'm not nearly as capable of investing as much time as Dunn has in this game.

Given that he's been able to invest 3x more than I have and I found it very likely he would get it done the same way my kids try to get things done: thoughtless nagging.

I can't post that much right now either...but I wouldn't have any fear of going from L-2 to lynched without a chance to claim this early in phase.

This is DixC's second game on the site, and I am pretty sure his first game is still ongoing. So I don't see this as a scum indicator, I think it's just his playstyle from the previous forum he played on, where town players were a bit more rash with hammering and waiting for a claim almost never happened.

Dunn gives reads with no explanation. Further, his reads change, sometimes after relatively few posts, and again with no explanation. I've asked him for reasoning on reads in 1355 and 1357 and got no response. I repeated those questions in 1408 and 1409 and got no response. Now he's self-voted. This is all very scummy. Where do you get off saying I'm not doing anything?

In the just completed Open 644, chip made 348 posts in the first 2 game days. In this game, he made 87 in the first two game days.

Looking at it from a RL perspective: those 87 posts were made from 6.18 - 7.14 (my time). In that same period in Open 644, he made 206 posts.

I can say though that I don't put much store in claims in this setup and maybe that's why I didn't recall their being cop claims on the table. My thought was just to protect the most confirmed Town we had. But, given Dix's flip, I guess you are right and I should have saved Dix.

Penguin makes sense as a town investigation target - he was up to L-1 at one point, so a lot of people find him suspicious, and transcend was on the wagon himself.

Scum fake claiming prefer to go with doctor, as claiming cop creates a conftown.

Penguin does not make sense as target for a scum fake claim. As noted, he was already at L-1, so he's a potential mislynch. You don't fake conftown someone who you see as mislynchable. You fake conftown someone who you think you'll need to NK anyway.

That doesn't make sense. Unclaimed just tend to be the players with PRs later in the game. Anyone, Town or scum, is going to claim under pressure. So in the end there will be no unclaimed to lynch. And we don't necessarily want to force claims in advance, even just Cop/Doc without giving night, because it makes it easy for scum to pick off the remaining cops who haven't yet used their powers, given that their is no guaranteed Doc coverage on any given night.

I don't really give a shit that penguin claimed N3 doc or podo claimed N5 cop. You're correct that, by themselves, those are meaningless. However, I do care that others have claimed to have innos on those two.

I give a cop claim with a result some respect because it's against scum's interest to produce conftowns.

I generally wouldn't give a doc protection claim any weight, but on a night with no kill, as with Ranger/Murdercat, it gets some respect.

I don't give chip's N2 doc claim any weight, because there was a kill. In fact, his claim goes against him, as MC was a ridiculous target when we had two cop claims for than night.
