Site chat issue

I'm unable to send or receive private messages through site chat.
the lobby works fine. No idea what I'm doing wrong.

to go into detail:

every time I receive a message, an empty box pops up, with the name of someone sending me a message.
sending messages give me the same result basically, the box stays empty.

Apparently people are getting my messages though??
