Hi All.

I kinda wanna keep the setup Open.

Just as a procedural note, is there a reason to have this review in secret? If it's an Open, there are no secrets to spill, and having it in public would let other people chip in. (The main reason to keep it secret would be if you were potentially considering converting the setup to Closed. I guess you might also want to keep any strategy advice from the reviewers secret from the players.)

I believe that this is the town's optimal strategy:

• Day 1, the Even-Night Doctor claims.
  
• Night 1, the Doctor protects the Even-Night Doctor.
  
• Day 2, the Doctor claims.
  
• Night 2, the Doctors cross-protect.

and play as normal from there. This effectively gives the town two confirmed innocents, that they're likely to be able to maintain alive all the way to D3. (The only ways in which this could be disrupted are if the Doctor gets lynched, or if the Doctor gets nightkilled N1.)

Assuming that the plan doesn't get disrupted, I calculate the EV at 54%. Accounting for the (fairly unlikely but still possible) disruptions, this puts the setup pretty close to balanced (it's slightly more townsided than our usual standard for an Open, but our usual standard is probably scumsided). As such, I'd let this setup run. (There are wording issues that need to be fixed first, so not approving yet, but the only changes needed are minor.)

There is zero purpose to putting an Encryptor into an Open with a 2-member scumteam. It's equivalent in every way to giving the scum daytalk, except that the town don't know they have daytalk. You may as well simplify things by giving scum daytalk outright.

Your scum role PMs seem to be screwed up. You've told the Encryptor that they're a Goon (whilst giving them daytalk), and the scum need a link to a PT in their role PMs somewhere or they won't know where to talk to each other. The Doctor role PMs give away that the setup only has one kill per night; in a Closed Normal I'd force you to change this, but in an Open Normal there's not really an issue with that because the setup's known anyway.

You confirmation rules are a very old style which I hardly ever see nowadays. I don't have a problem with them, but your players might be confused; you might want to explain in more detail in your "all role PMs have been sent out" post.

Your prodding rules are also pretty unusual but I don't see problems with them (either in terms of legality or how they're likely to work in practice) and they're well explained, so I see no reason to change them.

There's a markup error in the rules about voting.

That's about it. This is one of the easier reviews I've had to do. Normally it takes pagefuls, but this one I may only need to make two posts (this one and a subsequent post approving any changes).

I think you have more rules than you need and are possibly creating headaches for yourself by doing so, but if you want, then go for it.

The few things I was going to say are already addressed above.

While I'm not certain town will play out the optimal strat that CFJ describes, even otherwise the setup is a slightly more scumsided tracker+doc vs. goons (the matrix6 setup) as I see it, particularly due to the daytalk. Even so, the fact that it's fully open and not semiopen puts that in town's favor still, so... pass on the balance.
