Brawl 7: Jeopardy!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Wed Sep 28, 2016 2:01 pm

{ROUND 07: BRAWL}

Jeopardy

Jeopardy! is a game show that's been on the air for decades, and it is no stranger to Mish Mash, run most famously by doctorwho from 2013-2015.

RULES:

Both players in the Brawl will face a board of 30 dollar values among 6 categories. Each category has 5 clues ranging from $200 to $1000, in $200 increments. A coin toss will determine who selects a clue on the board first. Once the clue is revealed, any of the contestants may post to answer; your response MUST BE IN THE FORM OF A QUESTION (such as Who is Abraham Lincoln?). Get it right, you get the money and get to choose the next clue, get it wrong, you lose the money. If nobody rings in within 3 minutes (or everyone passes), the person who got the last clue selects again. Rinse and repeat until the end of the round, except for...

THE DAILY DOUBLE:

The contestant who finds the one clue with the Daily Double can wager any or all of their money (but the amount must be at least $5). If they have less than the top value in the round, they can wager up to that much. Correct answers add the wagered money, incorrect answers take away the wagered money. Whether or not the response is right, they then select again. You have 3 minutes to provide your answer for the Daily Double.

DOUBLE JEOPARDY:

Pretty much the same thing, except the dollars are doubled ($400-$2000) and there's TWO Daily Doubles on the board. At the end of the round, players with at least a dollar to their score advance to...

FINAL JEOPARDY:

One more category is revealed, and the contestants submit wagers between $0 and their current score (which they'll send to me by PM). Once the wagers are in, the final clue is revealed, and the contestants then have 10 minutes to PM their response (still phrased in the form of a question). After that, we reveal the responses and the wagers; as in a Daily Double, contestants who provide correct questions are awarded the amount they wagered; contestants who provide incorrect questions (or fail to phrase the response in the form of a question) have their wager subtracted. The player with the most money wins, while the loser is eliminated from Clash of the Mash.

OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE BY ANY MEANS IS PROHIBITED FOR THIS GAME.

The rookies and veterans will compete in separate games, and the matches will take place live when both players are available.

Even as a spectator, I am hoping that this question is not heavy on American pop culture. Wheel of Fortune (the Brawl that I lost) hit quite an exact level.

Man, if it weren't for the fact that this would have to all be done in one sitting (a scheduling
hell
for me, but I've made my stance on that clear via past challenges), this would probably be something I'd not only enjoy, but be really good at. Like, looking at the list of rookies, I don't think there's a single one who I wouldn't at least be a challenger for. If not a winner in. But, yaknow. Scheduling nightmare (would be very, VERY hard to find the right time), the fact that I'm this confident I'd win means I'm a poor choice to make, etc.

I LOVE Jeopardy. Watch it every night, am very good at it, to the point where I often do better than half the competitors and even when they answer before I do it's only because they're faster on the buzzer than I would be.

We picked questions knowing that not everyone playing would be American (and in this case, Felissan isn't) :)

The thing is, it's pretty tough to find a couple hours that are free time for two students in different timezones.

We've come up with a way to do this without both of you needing to be online. You'll play individually, picking the categories as usual, and you'll have a minute to answer each question, with wrong answers counting against you. The player with the higher score will win.

Since you don't need to be online at the same time as the other person, please shoot me or xofelf a PM as soon as you're available.

Both players have (expired on 2016-10-08 18:53:05) to at least let me know when they think they will be free.
