Like, I'm not into geriatrics enough to actively sign up or take the spot from anyone else, but they're super easy to catch up in. So if you need a replace, and you think someone else will really want it, go ahead, but I'll be a backup.

I'd like to be added to the end of the replacement queue for any geriatric games.

I did in Chill Mafia in Lylo and maybe the day before
We were running a few fast paced gambits
Let me know what you think- Mathdino

I think it's notable that 765 had typically super active players basically post restricted, while 778 was partially a loss due to lurkers and lack of prompt replacements.
The ruleset is very vulnerable to prod dodging lurking.- Mathdino

i would argue then that the geriatric ruleset is pro-town if and only if the playerlist is normally active
i think the ruleset was definitely helpful to town in Aeronaut's game, since there was less material to get overwhelmed by, but all players were still producing genuine content to the point where it was easy to get reads
it is not, however, helpful if used as an excuse to only post once every 2 days
and i think geriatric games have the unfortunate potential to draw a crowd of lurkers or people who just don't have time to play mafia- Mathdino

I mean is the solution to just policy lynch all lurkers? That doesn't seem much better
I no longer believe spamposting is a major contribution to lowered town winrates- Mathdino

It feels like people have only gotten more anti-policy lynch tbh
I'm trying to bring them back
The most common argument I see is "everyone should get a chance to play"
But we're at a point where there are players who prodge every 48 hours, or who self vote in LyLo, or who fakeclaim PR in opens
Policy fixes that one problem player, not the entire site- Mathdino

One of these days I'm making one of those egotistical MD personal philosophy threads
That literally just advocates policy lynching people
Along with outlining why people are bad at scumhunting in the current climate- Mathdino

I mean it's a recurring theme for me personally
But I obviously can't drive policy lynches alone when "everyone should get a chance to play"
Also along the same lines when the fuck did self voting as town become a cool thing to do- Mathdino

Reviving this due to Reck's game which had town completely steamrolled. In post 480, Mathdino wrote:i would argue then that the geriatric ruleset is pro-town if and only if the playerlist is normally active

The difference, Kmd, is that you're clearly more invested in mafia than I think the majority of people who require the geriatric ruleset to play.
You're also much MUCH more in sync with the current meta.
I stand by the idea that a random MS game, if suddenly imbued with the geriatric ruleset, would shift things for town.
But as it is, a random geriatric game that enters signups is much more likely to create a playerlist that will lose the game for town.- Mathdino

I'm reviving this every time geriatrics complete, KK. I'm invested in the ruleset and have been following all geriatric games onsite. Don't give me that.
The other geriatric town loss was also ruined by lurkers.
The only geriatric game with a town win contained an entire playerlist of standardly active people anyway, who were first to not spampost and get in massive 1v1s due to the ruleset.- Mathdino

i do think the 72 hour deadline in your game made it really slow in terms of getting the necessary replacements, reck
D1 came down to the deadline; it didn't end organically because 2/3 of the day was spent waiting on lurkers- Mathdino

I don't think Mulch is being extremely unfair. There has, thus far, been one geriatric game that hasn't essentially been determined by lurking players or a lurking mod.- Mathdino

mulch has said nothing personal or harassy since i necro'd the thread
like i've been the first person to tell him to fuck off in other threads but this is way disproportionate retribution for mulch's comments so far, which neither of you have actually seriously addressed
also *I* was the one who's trying to make a point out of the 3 games so farbecause i played in 2 of themso if you're gonna be aggressive about that be aggressive at me
because my name IS on the list in the OP- Mathdino

TBM, you neither represent the community nor an objective take on Mulch. It doesn't matter what your preconceptions are. I opened the discussion in an OPEN DISCUSSION FORUM in 554 to revive the topic of "is geriatric townsided or scumsided, and why?" I opened that, knowing that Mulch might have input, and he provided input. This was what I wanted.
Quote the posts since I revived this discussion where you think Mulch turned it into a fight, treated others with disrespect, harassed anyone, or "shitting on" the thread.- Mathdino

And if you're going to be needlessly hostile about the argument that the geriatric playerbase being too inactive is what makes it not work, I'm going to point that there were multiple delays in starting your game, which I'm planning on discussing after that game ends.- Mathdino

I HAVE told Mulch to fuck off before. This was never a question of his character, or of my opinion of him. You brought that question back into the thread.
You pulled quotes from months ago instead of answering my question. There wasn't a single post he made after I opened the thread again for discussion, that was trolling, harassing, disrespectful, or otherwise toxic.
I asked for discussion. Mulch provided a reasonable viewpoint. You, among others, shot back with personal attacks that derailed it again, rather than even addressing the discussion. That is what turned this into a fight.
And if you're upset about this being turned into a debate, again, you should be mad at me, because I've been discussing the townsided/scumsided debate for the past few pages now. The ruleset is vulnerable to inactive mods and inactive players, and appears to be MORE vulnerable than average games on MS. That was the topic.
That quote happens to accidentally include Ari's 354 which, incidentally, I agree with. I don't have a personal problem with you, but you guys are absolutely being the aggressors in this situation.- Mathdino

And he responded to being personally attacked with civility and commitment to wanting a genuine discussion. In post 596, Mulch wrote:

I mean, even if it WAS none of my business, people comment on things they aren’t involved in all the time
But I personally think this stuff is adversely affecting the site as a whole
And I even took time to really flesh out my thoughts/go into detail/do analysis on why recently

I don’t really want to listen to people that are being abusive/rude/mean anyway
To which you've responded by compiling every instance you could of how people hate Mulch, and arguing that he shouldn't be "tolerated" (what?).
Because quoting what other people think of Mulch is definitely how to tell me who Mulch is in a nutshell.Copyright © MafiaScum. All rights reserved.
