More 'Kids These Days' with hyperactive posting. I'd put myself on the same list, but I'm really trying to fix it lately. I did my best to only mention those who I feel it happens almost every single game for, and I don't necessarily dislike anybody on the list.
I'm lurking to check out what game y'all decide on hijacking, to join it as well.

I also do still think some allowance should be made <24 hours from deadline, whether it's eliminating the limit or just giving more posts.

This is definitely spmething to consider. I mean, ideally we can figure out our shit well before deadline but eod stuff can happen.

Also, is there an allowance for vote changes even if the post limit is exceeded for a period?

No, we're lenient with it. It's allowed under the rules. I think it ought not to be though, as I've literally seen players slip up, post in the game thread instead of the dead thread by mistake, and ruin games several times.

I'm not a huge fan, I think the risk is not worth it.

I've seen this from dead players and mods too though, more often than from spectators.

The main argument against them I can see is that it takes away from your replacement base.

No I'm against the concept of dead and spectator threads writ large. This is literally my point. Allowing people to talk about ongoing games creates slip up potential that can ruin games, from mods, from dead players and from spectators. I think the fact that we allow this thing is perplexing and dangerous.

While I do see your point, deadthreads also get people watching the game and increase enthusiasm for it. They create a place for tips to be said while the game is progressing without ruining the game. They are a fun plave that creates a tighter knit site as we all have a place to come together, comment, and cheer on a game whether we are in it or not!

They do a lot for the site that i think you take for granted.

Scum PTs are so much riskier IMO. I was constantly paranoid last time I used one.

If only game threads had to have approval to post in them!

Mulch, this is a retreat from the overly posted in, less content filled games of late.

When I started playing mafia I modelled myself on a fantastic wall poster from my original site. They got so much info into each post and prompted responses of the same type. It was glorious!

My playstyle has changed with site meta, but I have found it almost impossible to play as there is so much speed but so little content to games nowadays. I would spend hours reading page upon page of games and learn nothing about people's alignments from them. Combined with a busy life I was forced into retirement because I could not keep up!

This ruleset offers players like me a chance to have fun again. A chance to enjoy Mafia like we used to! It is not for everyone, and I would never expect you to play in one. It is not your style nor is it your version of a fun game. But I, for one, am extremely glad it has been created!

I can't inagine so. I mean, say a mini, the most numver of posts should be ~130 and 5 pages is nothing to sort for player postcount. And that is if everyone posts to the maximum amount which isn't going to happen.

I helped backup a pist restricted and it was quite simple! When doing each VC just account for posts and votes.

Fair enough. I just find it to be a bit restrictive- and I think it sort of shames people with a different playstyle. I mean, in all fairness, I understand some people don't have the time to catch up/the want to not read posts. But I also think this playstyle (if it gets too common) could really drive people away from the site considering how harsh it can be. So as long as it stays a "cult" I think it's fine, but if it becomes super common, I think the site could really be hurt by it

I totally get the concern, but this is a small group. Sure people will pop in and out of our games, but unless site meta changes drastically they will never take over.

The hyper posters and those who don't want to be restricted will always exist and will likely always outnumber us. As long as they host games or people host games for them, you needn't worry!

Heck, I will be playing these games, but as a Mod it is unlikely I would run one. I like modding for a lot of people who would never play these games, and while I would like playing with them as well, I simply cannot at this stage. So I don't think you really have to be concerned!

Also, I apologize for all the hatred you seem to be getting here. Your posting style is drastically different than ours and I think that overall the people in this thread feel attacked by you simply existing. It's not right or fair, but it seems to be the case. I just hope you know you are still welcome on this site.

In this situation the issue isn't with the people who are responding to someone being an asshole to them, its with person deliberately coming into this thread to start drama and attack people. The responses have actually been remarkably civil given how shitty mulch is being.

But sure, ari. The people responding to the asshole are the ones at fault here.

I disagree. If you take his recent posts as their own entity, he merely stated displeasure with the ruleset, just as we have stated displeasure with overposters. When mocking posts came his way, he had fun with them. That is reasonable in most discussion settings. When a serious post came his way, we had an alright cobversation about the differences in our enjoyment of the game and he voiced a concern that he would no longer enjoy playing here if it became more widespread.

This is perfectly reasonable and his posts are nothing spectacular or shitposty. If we had not gone on the offensive he would have had nothing to respond to and likely would have gone away.

In fact, overall he has created decent discussion points here and brought up tjings which were probably the worry of at least some others on the site. Sure there was some shitposting, but we are all guilty of that at times.

I just tuink our reactions are disproportionate to his comments.

I'm interested in geriatric games (not because I want to lurk, quite the opposite, I tend to get too invested in mafia games and I'd rather avoid posting too much and not getting enough college work done), including the one currently in signups, but ... how do you feel about newcomers joining? I'm not unfamiliar with the game of mafia and I've read this game, for example, but I'm far from being a good player, mostly having trouble with reading (being slow, not confident at all and wrong a lot.)

I also am not a good player, a slow reader, lack confidence in my reads and am wrong an awful lot. These are things you can only get better at by playing! I'd love to have you join
