TEAM MAFIA 2018

This thread is for everything EXCEPT signing up. To sign up, go here.
Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you have any questions/comments/concerns.

FORMAT:

There will be

15 teams of 5 players each

playing in

five 15 player games

.

After all spots have been filled, each team will recieve 5 role PM's, one from each game. Each team decides which player gets which role PM.

Once all 5 games have ended,

the team with the most victories will WIN the event

- see the Scoring and Tiebreaks section for more details.

THE GAMES:

All games have exactly

12 town aligned players and 3 mafia aligned players

. All scumteams will have daytalk.
All game deadlines will be

2 week days

and

48 hours nights

. We reserve the right to adjust these if games are going at drastically different rates.

Invention Mafia (

- A closed 15 player game with a public mechanic where each day, players can vote for someone to receive an invention that can used the following night. Inventions will be public. Powers outside of inventions will be limited.

: Mechanic/Role heavy Fairy Tale themed 15 player game. Scumteam will be able to choose who gets what role after formation.

SIGNING UP:

Signups will

NOT

be in this thread. They will be in a separate thread. The link will be prominent when it is created. The following information is about how to sign up in said thread.

DO NOT

sign up without verifying with all your teammates that they are able to play the event. If the event fills and it turns out a player from a team can't play, said team will be moved to the bottom of the list in terms of signups and priority will be given to any full teams that missed out because of the event filling.

Spoiler: How to Sign Up

Each team will need a:
1. Team Name (you may change this after signing up), it may appear on the winning team's prize banner.
2. Team Captain (normally the person signing up, but it doesn't have to be)
3. The other four player's names. These MUST be spelled correctly and in full or your sign up will be void.

Spoiler: Requirements for Each Player

1. No hydras
2. No secret alts. You may play on an alt account, but your "main" identity will be listed on the main thread.
3. Each player must have at least one completed game on the site and be in good standing (i.e. no banned players).

. This is to account for the people attending SurvivorMeet.

SCHEDULE:

We hope to have the event be full by the end of

1/20

. Role PM's will be posted in team PT's shortly after all teams are finalized.
Teams will have

48 hours

to decide who gets what role. After selection period has passed, we will have a

24 hour pre-game period

, after which all the games will commence.

SCORING AND TIEBREAKS:

Each additional tiebreaker breaks remaining ties in the previous.

1) Teams that won more games place ahead of teams that won less.

2) At the end of team mafia, a Private Topic will be released. In the PT, Day 1 of an open game of mafia (setup TBA) will have been played by non-team mafia participants, with the flip of the lynched player redacted. Teams will have {Time period to be decided} to submit their best guesses for who the scumteam was in that game. Teams that correctly identify more scumteam members place ahead of those who identify less.

3) Teams that correctly identify more town power roles will place ahead of those who identify less.

4) Teams that needed more (in terms of number of players) organizer help in finding replacements will place behind teams that needed less.

5) A panel will select the most valuable team based on overall performance. This will only be invoked if a first place winner has not been identified yet.

PRIZES:

Winning Team Members will get a Banner under their name (Design TBA, may incorporate team name) until there is a new Team Mafia winner. They will also likely get some sort of sign up priority for the next Team Mafia.

Team Communication

1. Each team will be provided a Private Topic (PT).
2. Each team will also be provided a Discord Channel (DC), upon request.
3. Players may copy and paste whatever they want into their PT/DC. They may not copy and paste text OUT of their PT/DC into game threads.
4. Players may continue to communicate with their team after in-game death.
5. There are no restrictions for what players can post in their PT/DC's outside of not breaking site rules.
6. We'd prefer if teams used the provided means of communication. If your team really wants/needs to user another, contact me (Ellibereth) and we'll figure it out.
7. There will be a universal dead PT. A team will only get the option to join after all of their players have won or are dead.

Talking About Other Games

1. There are no restrictions for what players can post in their PT/DC's outside of not breaking site rules. The rules for this section refer to what players can talk about in their ongoing games and ongoing game PT's.
2. Players are only allowed to talk about mod-confirmed things from other ongoing Team Mafia games.
3. Any public speculation about other ongoing games is prohibited.
4. Any attempt to publically signal players from other ongoing games is prohibited.
5. Do not try to loophole these rules. If anyone has questions at any point about what is allowed or not allowed please message me (Ellibereth).
6. Examples of things NOT allowed: Calling a player in another game scummy. Saying a wagon in another game was bad. Talking about a claim in another game. Mentioning that players in another game should have lynched someone else.
7. Example of things that ARE allowed: Stating who is on what team. Stating what Day or Night another game is in. Stating how many players are left alive on a team. Stating how many town or scum are alive in another game. Stating whether a dead player in another game has flipped town or scum.
8. You MAY talk about the preferences and abilities of any player and speculate which game and alignment they would prefer. You may speculate about the relative strengths of teams and how they would distribute role pms. You may NOT tie this speculation or otherwise refer to ANY action a player not in your game has taken in their ongoing game. A good rule of thumb is any speculation one could have made just by seeing team compositions before the event is allowed.
9. Example of things that ARE allowed: "Ellibereth sucks at scum, he probably chose a town pm" or "Zoraster is by far the best scum player on that team. If they got a scum role pm he probably took it."
10. Example of things NOT allowed: "Ellibereth is confirmed scum by team composition", when said by someone not in Ellibereth's game. "Ellibereth's probably going to flip scum in that other game so Zoraster is probably town here".
11. To repeat: If you have any doubt about whether something is against the rules or not, pm your mod and me, and ask.

Your Teammates are Always Innocent Until Proven Guilty

1. You may at no time say, indicate, insinuate, etc. that your Team Mafia teammates are or might be anything other than town. This includes in any hypothetical situation.
2. Exception: You may talk about your teammates being scum if they have flipped scum in another game (i.e. are dead).
3. If a player is NOT on your team and is still alive in another game, you must follow the rules in the Talking About Other Games thread.

Replacements

1. It is your job to replace team members who are not active. If you require assistance from the moderator or any event organizer, there will be a tiebreak penalty.
2. To replace a team member, you must PM Ellibereth AND the moderator of your subgame.
3. You may replace with anyone who is not currently on a Team Mafia team, not part of the Team Mafia Organizer team (Moderators, Balance-checkers, players in tiebreak game). However, only 5 people may be involved in the PT at any time. A replaced team member may not participate in any way unless he is replaced back in.
4. A dead player may still be replaced so long as the team follows 3.
5. The mod will force replace any player who has not posted within 3 days (Prodded after 2, no response for 1 more) of his last post (not including Night). This will come at a penalty to the team.
6. Please try to avoid replacements if possible.

There will be no blacklisting or WOTC'ing for this event. All players that qualify to play can play
