That's hillarious

Increases chance of scum in the lurkers, though sadly town doesn't know that.
Also James' reaction to a spoilered flip kind of served as a spoiler in and of itself - could that maybe be spoiled for those of us that prefer spoiler free?

Meji remains a decent flip.
The way I was hammered is twigging me more on Flicker the more I read it.

This is probably the most succinct way to describe the doldrums the game is in.
Maybe I should have just random wagoned Meji just to get an L-1 going?

Ooooh, and here's a good mystery for the new players - why do so many games concurrently go into night phase?
I join them at different time, they have different mods, rule sets, player counts.
Always happens though - it's weird.

They can, it's a bit suboptimal.
As stands they handed town the ability to no lynch if they're unsure of a situation late game, and gave up their ability to kill a pro-town player earlier who is unlikely to be mislynch fodder.

In post 39, Nauci wrote:I mean, it's a jedi mind trick that got you lynched and possibly both PRs outed?
Jedi mind trick, town/scum blithly followin/leading.
It's a little combo of it all methinks. The claims actually did seem to help me get lynched, which is strange insomuch as (except for the math buisness which I find laughable) there was not even a single iota of info from them to increase the likelihood of me being scum.

The only thing that really frustrated me about the lynch outside of people refusing to interact with me while calling me scum was also Oxy saying I should have helped more and not thrown a tantrum - after multiple pages of me (somewhat) patiently answering the same question over and over again.
Hurts me in the feels I sez.

I guess it's okay, sooner or later they'll play with one of the actual tantrum throwers on site and then they'll be able to assess me in a more functional light

In post 44, mhsmith0 wrote:it seems like the case boiled down to a combo of “jk claim gives him 50% scum odds” and “Thor is tunneling on oxy and if he was town he wouldnt be doing that”
It wasn't so much that I was tunneling on Oxy, it was that I changed my scum read from Teacher after his claim to Oxy as opposed to putting it on Meji when I had claimed town on Oxy and scum on Meji (this did ignore that at the same time I said that I indicated if I was wrong on Teacher I'd want to reevaluate my town reads...but...) Also there was some sort of concept that by flipping me, whatever alignment I was would also be Meji's alignment - I never quite understood how anyone reached that idea, but at least 2 people and maybe a 3rd were advocating it as part of the general overall push on me.

I think that was the general idea of the case on me.

In post 47, Nauci wrote:The reason I got scummy vibes from you was because so much of your posting was defensive (and often kind of brusque about it), which I admittedly bias against.
People tend to post defensive posts when people are attacking them and asking for answers.
I'll admit I was brusque - the attacks on me seemed immensely silly and not worth much time.
If I'd spent more time on them wouldn't I have just been less brusque but have even more defensive posting?

Would it be weird?
Is it more or less weird than not posting?

I submit it would not be weird.
It's my chosen method if I'm behind and the game is racing away - some content, even content ten pages behind, is so vastly superior to no content that they're not even in the same galaxy.

Also, if you're skimming enough to note major changes happening, than comment on those changes, even if you are skimming.
Reset your page location, say "here's what I had, but by skimming I see *this* has happened, here are my initial thoughts on *this*."

Brass's argument opening is kind of awkward.

1. If someone is lurking, there is probably a lack of posts to argue their alignment with either direction.
2. Thus far two non lurkers have been lynched.
3. I don't think anyone is actually advocating lynching his slot for lurking.

So...wha?

Oxy is rampaging away with random number math and acting like it's remotely connected to reality.
Yeah, sure, a 2/6 chances is inferior to a 2/5 chance.
But if you're sitting around going "well, scum will kill Elephant or Teacher" you're also basically admitting you have a zero chance of wanting to lynch one of them, so if one of them is scum they're already pretty much assured to win, and if your reads are right you're arguing that 2/4 is less good for random lynching than 2/4.

But what do I know? Apparently I was statistically very likely to be scum.

I will still stand by my current belief that the best scum option nowadays is to refuse to bus at all. You can and should do distancing - but never bus.
No one outside silly players gives much town cred to all but the most aggressive of bussing - so why help lynch a scumbuddy? Let someone else look like the "questionable vote" on the scum wagon.

The quicksand argument style that pulled me down to obv. scum for both Teacher and Oxy is now targeting each other and doing the same.
I think both get a little too committed to their debate point and start to loose focus on the purpose of the debate.

I just finished a Large with a (nearly) flawless town victory.
This game has been a headache in comparison

But, on a more serious note, I think multiple of these players will clearly evolve into very good players, which is nice. I am just sad that it looks like a bit of tunneling and some early derp theorylooks to be rampaging them into a town loss.
They shouldn't hold themselves fully to blame for it, and I hope they stick around for more games.

It's the same sort of odd high level thought process unneling that was my lynch yesterday. People are getting a slightly random theory in their head, deciding it's more likely true than not for no reason at all, and then pursuing it into the ground.

I suppose an important note on that - is they're doing it without scum intent in mind.
They're going 'isn't this interesting' and deciding that equates to being scummy.

Like the crumb - it's utterly meaningless as a scum or town tell. He did it, it's objectively obvious he did it. There is actually only the thinnest of margins for a solid town reason do it, sure - but in what world is there any scum advantage to doing it? There is only the same thinnest of reasoning. So, at that stage, the point is meaningless. He should have claimed it, their reaction should have been 'cute' and that should have ended the discussion.

Still kinda wish they'd just lynch Flicker or Meji.

I agree with you, though will admit I thought it was healthy after the blind tunnel of yesterday.
They do need to try to make a decision eventually though if they want to actually advance anything worthwhile.

I tend to find either extreme kind of bothersome, but would rather be dealing with tryhards than people who don't seem to care about their wincon.
