MafiaScum will be hosting a Marathon Weekend from

Wednesday, July 4th

through

Sunday, July 8th

! During this time, the

Marathon Forum

will be open for anyone to run and/or play in Marathon games: Mafia games intended to be played in a single sitting, usually lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. We will be moving the Marathon Forum out into the main forum index a week or two before this time. On the 4th, the board will open.

so I recently ran a game called "Mafia Month" where the premise was the game would last at most a month real time and if the town failed to achieve a win in that month, the mafia would win. if I were to run a game like this called Mafia Marathon where it takes place during the entirety of Marathon Weekend, would there be interest in that? I'm thinking I'd aim for 13-17 players so it's large enough that it's legitimately challenging to achieve consensus on lynches but not totally impossible.

if I run this, I'll obviously need to form a player list and create a setup in advance as well as recruit 1-2 co-mods who will be awake at different times from me (maybe one in

I have set the 'Marathon Weekend PT User Group' to open for the time being so people can join in advance in case they want to use private topics for their games. Use your user control panel to join by going there and selecting the user groups tab. From there, find the group and join. If you still have questions, let me know.

With fast post paces, it can be next to impossible even to post at all unless you disable the whatchamacallit (if someone posts immediately before you, it intercepts your post and lets you write more), which I do not see how to do -- and you might actually want the whatchamacallit on. (The mod would add to the starting post the following: "You can also use room MarathonGame99999 on the site chat to discuss the game at a faster pace.")

And I might also play even without this -- that described chaos may end up nonexistent in practice.
